Chapter Directors’ Words of Wisdom

Heartland Wings July 2016 2

Hi All-

Riding season is now in full swing. There are tons of bikes out there, having a good time and enjoying themselves. Our 6 Hundred Mile Ride project has gotten us at least one new member, and new friends at each ride. Kudos to Michael and Julie Sullivan, who are getting the word out there with texts, Facebook, emails and all other forms of social media. Jim and I have been on all the rides, and have experienced wind, heat, a few missed turns, and some new friends. At the business meeting we will discuss our rained out ride and when to reschedule it. Our final scheduled ride is Saturday after the meeting, so even if you don’t make the meeting, come on this ride have some fun.

Region C in Chippewa Falls was a great time. Lots of beautiful country in Wisconsin, and our own Dave and Denise Telford are our Region C Family of the Year. Let’s all cheer them on as they make their way to Huntington, Indiana and Gold Rush, for National Family of the Year.

Gold Rush is rapidly approaching. Lots of fun and different things to do this year. If you can’t make it, you can still be involved, as there are 50/50 tickets you can purchase on-line, and you don’t need to be present to win. It’s a fun way to support the organization.

I don’t have the location of next year’s Region C Rally, but our Regional Director Judy Schaeffer says it will be in Illinois and North of Interstate 80. Lots of good riding in the northwest corner of Illinois for sure.

As our Chapter Secretary is on an extended summer trip, would someone please take meeting minutes for the July meeting? Thanks to Michael Bumpus for doing June’s minutes.

Happy Summer! Ride Safe!

Jim and Karen Durand

GWTA News

Heartland Wings July 2016 3

For every new recruit you bring into GWTA, you get:

•FREE registration to Goldrush in 2016*

•$10.00 off your regional rally registration **

•$10.00 off your state/provincial rally registration **

* If the recruiting of the new member(s) occurs after June 1, 2016 and the recruiting member cannot attend in 2016, a $10.00 coupon for a future Goldrush will be issued.

** These credits have no cash value.

•There is no ‘cash back’ option. For example, if you have recruited four new members (a credit of $40.00), and your state/provincial rally registration fee is $35.00, the remaining $5.00 is not returned in cash

•Rally credits you hold are to be applied at the time of registration. If you acquire additional rally credits after you have registered for the current year rally, you will need to hold them to apply toward the following year’s rally. In other words, you will not get cash back on rally registration monies you have already expended

•There is a two year expiration period from the time of issue of the credit

•Credits are non-transferable

BONUS: If you recruit five new members, you will also get a one year credit of your membership dues (non-transferable).

Program begins April 1, 2016, and will be managed by Mike and Carol Brush. They will be responsible for issuing the appropriate credits to members who have recruited other members. Coupons will be issued as soon as they receive the recruiting information, including the new member’s name and membership number, from the national office.

Meeting Minutes

Heartland Wings July 2016 4

GWTA Chapter À Meeting Minutes Dillon Brother's June 4, 2016 The meeting was opened at 10:02am by Chapter Director Karen Durand. The previous month's meeting minutes were not posted as of the meeting time, so the motion to approve the minutes was postponed until the next meeting. The treasurer's report was presented. A motion was made and accepted as presented. Old Business:

1. Six 100 Mile Rides-so far one successful ride and one rainout. New people attended the first ride and may become chapter members. Still need to do final runs of remaining routes to check for road closures and construction.

2. Region C Rally next weekend in Chippewa Falls, WI. New Business:

1. First Wednesday Dessert Rides-Since we have moved the summer meetings to Saturday, that leaves the first Wednesday available for another dinner or other activity. It was decided to have a dessert ride on the following dates, led (or hosted) by these chapter members:

a. July 6th-Mike Brush b. August 3rd-Jim and Karen Durand c. September 7th-Greg and Monica Bumpus

2. Gold Rush July 11-14 in Huntington, Indiana. Lots of interesting things to do, not just hanging out at Bruce Keenon’s house. There is an online 50/50 where you can purchase tickets. No raffle tickets this year.

There was a motion to close meeting. The motion was seconded. Karen closed the meeting at 10:45am. Respectfully Submitted, Michael Bumpus-Temp. Secretary as volunteered by parents
