Santa visits benefit Missions Ho, ho, ho!

For the past six years, Santa has visited homes, businesses, par-ties and schools bringing smiles and joy. Santa is a part of the Marvin

Missions Ministry with

the proceeds from visits benefiting “Give Kids a Smile Day” and the Chil-dren’s Clinics of St. Paul Children’s Foundation.

Santa’s scheduler (Mary Gammell) can be reached at 903.561.7119.

Home visits begin at $50 for 30 minutes and rates

for school parties and business parties are ne-gotiable.

The Marvin Military Care Committee would like to honor our soldiers serving overseas by collecting items now through Nov. 15 for a Christmas mailing. A collec-tion tub will be located near the Welcome Center.

Suggested Items include:

Christmas items – flat or-

naments, crosses, candy

Signed Christmas cards

Chef Boyardee – don’t need a can opener

Microwavable mac & cheese

Drink mix packets to put in water such as Crystal Light or Powerade

Snacks of any kind

Baby wipes or individually packaged handi-wipes

Dental items such as den-tal floss, toothpicks

Hard candy

Socks

Toiletries

Small American flags

Letters of encouragement

Pictures saying “thank you” (this would be a great Sunday school project for any age class!)

Donations to help under-write the cost of the mailing can be brought to the Wel-come Center or left in the collection plate and will be greatly appreciated.

Individuals and families will have opportunities to “work” in the store (located on the St. Paul’s grounds) during the two weeks the store will be open (Dec. 6-10 and Dec. 13-17). The vol-unteer shifts are 12:30-3

p.m. and 2:45-5:15 p.m. Ad-ditional volunteer hours on Monday nights are 5:00-7:30 p.m.

Marvin will host a Christmas store for the clients of the St. Paul Children’s Founda-tion in December. Families will be able to select NEW items to use as Christmas presents for immediate fam-ily members.

Bits and pieces Communion offering

Our November Communion offering will be designated for Bethesda Health Clinic, a faith-based clinic dedicated to living out the biblical and historical commission of the church to care for those in need by providing affordable, high quality health care for the working uninsured of Smith County through dedicated volunteers and staff. Four times a year, our church operates the special Saturday morning clinics. Please give generously to this wonderful medical outreach!

Marvin Kettle Day for the Salvation Army

We need volunteers for one-hour shifts from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 2. To sign up, contact Coordinator Sharlotte Hyde (903.593.9493 or [email protected]).

Our greatest generation

Help us identify all WWII vets in our congregation. We will honor them with a dis-play in December. Any families with photos and/or memorabilia from WWII are en-couraged to contact Edie Bergeron (903-534-1116). A form will be available soon at the Welcome Center for sharing memories of WWII, especially the bombing of Pearl Harbor
