Heatless Desiccant Air Dryers

Drytec MDA Heatless Desiccant Air Dryers provide constant –40°C pressure dew point.

These Dryers are designed to supply clean and dry compressed air for critical applications.

Pre-filters and after-filters are supplied with Drytec Heatless Air Dryers to keep the air clean and

maintain the integrity of the desiccant medium.

A reliable electronic controller makes sure that the dryer operates perfectly.

Principle of Operation

The twin tower are designed for continuous absorption

of water vapor from compressed air by using the

hygroscopic desiccant with high crush strength and a

high surface / volume ratio. To be dried, compressed

air pass through one desiccant bed which absorb

moisture, while the other one is being simultaneously

regenerated with the expanded purge air. To

regenerate the desiccant, the use of heat is

unneeded. The wet bed is dried by diverting a

small portion of the super dry air from the outlet

at atmospheric pressure. The purge flow rate is

adjustable to suit the specific outlet conditions

(desired dew point). The super dry air flows in a

counter direction through the wet bed, sweeping

all the water vapor previously absorbed by the

desiccant.

MDA ensures pressure equalization in the twin

towers before the switching. This prevents line

surge and minimizes desiccant attrition. The

reactivated tower will gradually be re-pressurized

at the end of its reactivation cycle before switchover takes place. Purge flow and de-

pressurization are in downward direction, counter flow to the drying air flow.

PLC is standard

MDA Desiccant Dryers has a very

reliable electronic controller which

makes sure that the dryer operates.

Touch screen PLC is able to show

the cycles as well as the valves

which operate on real time. It also

shows the dew point (if

applicable). User friendly multi-

lingual PLC helps the users to

understand the operation system

easily.

Activated Alumina

Drytec uses absorption media in its heatless range of desiccant

dryers to achieve consistent dew point. Activated Alumina,

Molecular Sieve and Silica Gel are used in varying ratios

depending on the application.

Technical specifications

Ordering : If a compressor delivers 850 Nm³/h at 9 bar

pressure and 45°C inlet temperature, the

selection will be as follows :

850 x 1.25 x 0.73 = 931 Nm³/h

The correct dryer is MDA1000

Drytec MDA heatless desiccant dryers provide constant –40°C (-70°C is optional) pressure dew

point. These dryers are designed to supply clean and very dry compressed air for critical applica-

tions. Pre-filters and after-filters are supplied along with Drytec heatless air dryers to keep the air

stream clean and maintain the integrity of the desiccant medium.
