worker of The Jewish Board, offers individuals and
families of the Bayit short-term supportive
counseling, information, and referrals to
additional sources of ongoing support. She provides confidential consultations at no fee to
congregants on a variety of matters pertaining to
personal and professional transitions (e.g. illness,
bereavement, caregiving, divorce, retirement,
infertility, marriage, birth, adoption, unemployment or underemployment) as
well as life challenges (e.g. special needs, mental illness, addiction and
recovery, elder abuse, domestic violence, lack of financial resources for food
and shelter). Shira also co-facilitates support groups and moderates
educational workshops. Working in collaboration with the shul’s clergy,
administration, and lay leaders, she helps address emerging concerns,
developing programs that meet the needs of the community. Shira is
passionate about helping to strengthen warm, inclusive, and caring Jewish

Bedzin Exhibit: January 21st-26th
The exhibit "Life and Death in the Bedzin Ghetto" will be
featured for the first time on the East Coast, this January, at the
Hebrew Institute of Riverdale. Learn about the story of the
young people of the Polish city of Bedzin before, during, and
after the Holocaust. Only a few of them survived.
The opening event will be on January 21st from 2pm-5pm.

Alvin's son Len and grandson Nathan will be at CSAIR, 475 West

YINR MEMBER IN NEED OF LIVER TRANSPLANT: Uri Landesman, a long-time YINR member, needs a liver transplant
and has begun a search for a donor. He is seeking a living donor between the ages 18-55, with type O or A2 blood and a healthy
liver. The procedure involves having three of five liver lobes (60% of most livers) removed, 90% of which is regenerated within six
weeks. Hospitalization following the procedure averages five days and most donors are back to work within three weeks. While
compensation cannot be provided for this great act of kindness, reimbursement will be provided for any uninsured medical

L'DOR V'DOR SUMMER INTERNSHIP: The Hebrew Home at Riverdale is accepting applications for their L’Dor V’Dor
Summer Internship, an innovative, fun and meaningful four week program for Jewish teenagers. Interns volunteer at the Hebrew
Home, connect with residents, and attend educational seminars & workshops. L’Dor V’Dor will be held from July 2 - July 27,
Monday - Friday from 9:00am – 5:00pm. Participants are selected on the basis of their application, interview, and references.
