For over 16 years Height Spe-cialists has been working at heights. With safe and envi-ronment-friendly Rope Access techniques we offer practical solutions where high-altitude and/or working in badly acces-sible locations is involved.

By using ropes we position ourselves and transfer from one work location to the other. We work according to standards prescribed by the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA), the inter-national standard for industrial climbing.

Height Specialists is an innova-tive and dynamic organisation and is one of the biggest IRATA companies in the Netherlands. With a large team of IRATA-certified personnel we are able to carry out various projects quickly and professionally, both on- and offshore. Over

the years we have acquired various certifications, like TÜV, IRATA and VCA and we only work with certified mechanics and fitters, climbing equipment and tools. We provide vari-ous (training) courses in our own IRATA training centre in Delft, at SAIO Safety Training partner centre in Rotterdam (both in the Netherlands) or at any desired location world-wide. We are also suppliers of all required materials and are able to advise you on security plans and procedures. The vision of Height SpecialistsIn our view the key to safe working (at heights) is a transparently organised approach of the assignment. We prepare a risk analysis before starting out

on each project to identify and prevent the hazards involved in the project. This is fol-lowed by an action plan regarding the working method to be used.

Each project is assigned its own supervisor to guarantee the security and quality of the operations.

Our people regularly undergo training and attend courses in the use of tools, climbing equipment and security systems. These train-ing courses are set up and given according to international standards.

Height Specialists only uses CEN-certified tools and equipment. All materials are logged and checked systematically according to inter-national quality management systems (TÜV, VCA and IRATA).

Each project is followed by detailed evaluation and assessment for the purpose of even fur-ther development and improvement of work-ing techniques.

What is Rope Access?

Rope Access, also known as ‘industrial climb-ing’, is a method for working at heights by using ropes, climbing harnesses and other materials. With this method we have access to difficultly accessible and remote locations. Rope Access is an alternative or complementary to the use of

conventional systems like scaffolding, suspension bridge constructions and lifting platforms. Rope Access techniques and materials have been spe-cifically developed for use in areas like construc-tion and the manufacturing industry and comply with the international guidelines.

Our consultants have many years of experience and know-ledge in the field of working at heights and the security regulations involved. These regulations always comply with the demands set by the ARBO working conditions service and VCA and ISO-certification.

The quality of personal pro-tection equipment is of vital importance. For this reason they may only be used if they

conform to strict safety de-mands. European Norm EN 365 prescribes that anti-falling devices are checked by an expert at least once a year.

Height Specialists is able to help you prepare a Risk Inven-tory and Evaluation (RIE). This

is an obligation prescribed by the ARBO working condi-tions service and the VCA and ISO-standards. We will write an action plan for you and will recommend proper working methods, materials and the (training) courses required.

Height Specialists works according to the guide-lines of IRATA and has trained and certified all their staff to these standards. Within the scope of Rope Access work, we have the largest number of IRATA-certified staff in the Netherlands.The origin of the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) is British. It is the world’s

leading organisation for Industrial Rope Access and provides the standard for access technology by way of ropes. It also complies with the de-mands and requirements set by Dutch law.

The main purpose for IRATA is to ensure that its members perform all jobs safely while attaining good quality standards. In conjunction with the industrial sector, guidelines and requirements have been formulated for each certified IRATA-company (or IRATA-member) to strictly adhere to. IRATA-members regularly undergo severe inspections and audits. IRATA-certified compa-nies can be identified by the IRATA-logo with the certificate number underneath. This logo is your guarantee for quality and security.

This accommodation is in a central location in Delft (Netherlands) and disposes of its own theory and practice rooms. Training courses can also be given at our SAIO Safety Training partner centre in Rotterdam (Netherlands), or at a loca-tion of your choice (worldwide).

All our (training) courses are organised and given by certified instructors with an instructors’ train-ing certificate. Apart from their training experi-ence the instructors of Height Specialists also have many years of field experience. This enables them to anticipate in practice on all practice-oriented questions that course participants may put forward.

Participants receive a Code of Practice contain-ing detailed course material, a certificate and if applicable a logbook and ID-card. As group size never exceeds 8 participants, quality and optimal study results are guaranteed.

When working at heights it is the employer who is respon-sible for using the correct materials and for the correct use of these materials. Height Specialists can advise and train your company in the use of personal protection devices. We know exactly what de-mands are set on these devices and we can also supply materi-als from stock.
