Re: Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (the national data collection) is a joint initiative of all Australian governments, and public and private education authorities. National data is collected annually to identify the number of school students receiving an adjustment to assist them with their learning, and the level of adjustment that they are receiving in order to access education on the same basis as other students. Participation in the national data collection process is mandatory for all schools and helps schools to identify and meet the varying needs of individual students. The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability. The school will update its NCCD data over the coming weeks. Student and family privacy is protected throughout the collection of data. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy (https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy). Uniform Winter is certainly upon us and more and more children are coming to school dressed for the colder weather. Please can we remind families of our winter uniform (which you can see beautifully modelled by our three kindies): Long bottle green pants and a bottle green jumper (over our school shirt). Students may wear a coat/jacket when playing outside, but this should be removed when indoors. Students are still required to wear a brimmed hat when playing outdoors. A reminder that we have plenty of pre-loved bottle green jumpers at school, which can be purchased for a gold coin donation.

Parent Information Night The Library was buzzing with excitement as parents and carers joined Mrs Rankin and Mrs Potts in discovering what it feels like when children are beginning readers. Mrs Rankin led our families through the wonderful story of Kaboodle, leaving the families very motivated to decode the text with lots of laughs along the way. Mrs Potts Shared the importance of reading every day, an essential to developing rich language from an early age and the importance of a good fit book. We will be sharing two of the links shared on the night onto our school Facebook page! Thank you to our wonderful presenters and to everyone who took part in the evening.

Sporting Success! Congratulations to Bryce and Angel who both competed in the Regional Cross Country Finals last week. Both athletes performed in the AWD category, with Bryce achieving first place and Angel coming second. This is a fantastic achievement by both students, and our school is very proud of their successes. This result means that both students have now qualified for the State Finals which will be held in Sydney.

Be safe

Be Respectful

Be a Learner

Next weeks rule:

COLA North or South

When students are in the COLA areas, North or South, they must play small ball games only, walk on hard surfaces and sit when eating.

Peer Support – Doing My Best In Peer Support this week the children will be encouraged to attempt new and unfamiliar tasks by trying the best they can. The activity involves the Peer Support group being separated into 3 groups and rotating through 3 different tasks. The different tasks will help the children to identify different strengths in each other and that everyone’s different strengths can be used to solve a problem or complete a task. Discuss with your child their individual strengths and provide them with opportunities to utilise these strengths during the week. Remind them you will be proud of them in all situations if they always do their best.

Got It! Tip of the Week While supporting your child to understand their feelings, it’s often useful to help them to come up with some ways to solve the problem that triggered the feelings in the first place. They will probably need to know that you understand their feelings before they are ready to think about what to do next, so help them to take their time. You might say something like, “What do you think we should do?” or “What would make things better?”. Praise them for trying hard to come up with different ideas to solve the prob-lem and when they use more helpful strategies next time a similar situation occurs. This will help them to feel good about themselves and develop effective problem-solving skills.
