Free Sources of Qualified Buying Traffic
Forums
Forums are a great way to drive traffic, since they gather a lot of people interested in one topic, under one roof.
In fact, some forums are HUGE, and they are all around one topic or subject.
Besides this, people within forums are truly passionate about the topic.
Think about motorbikes, gardening or travelling. They all have big forums with people that are big on those subjects.
That’s exactly the type of traffic we are going after!
To find forums to post to, we’ll need to do some research on Google:

Some of the good things about forums is that you can provide value, answer questions and leave a link (for the most part) to your page.

This way you are positioning yourself as an authority right of the bat.
The more helpful you are, the better profile you’ll have and the more opportunities you’ll get to network and get in touch with your potential customer!
Remember that forums are a gold mine, but you need to have a strong profile.
And also a funnel in place to capture all of the traffic that you can generate from them!

Blog Comments
Another powerful and free way of bringing in traffic is blog comments.
However, this needs to be taken seriously and from a value-providing stand point.
Every time you comment on someone else’s blog you need to be insightful and provide further valuable content.
And be respectful of other people’s work.
In other words, just think on which kind of comments you’d like to have on your own website.
Or if the comment you’re leaving on the site is actually providing value to the visitor.
It is always better to leave an “informed comment”. Meaning that you’ll be talking about something you actually care and know about (just like the forums example)

These are usually blogs that have tons of traffic and interaction (more on this later).
You may also want to search for the actual blogger interaction.
In fact, many of the bloggers will actually answer to your comment so you can keep elaborating and creating buzz around that.

This is an example comment I make on Quicksprout.com, Neil Patel’s blog.
As you can see, the post is gaining a lot of traction and I also have a valuable backlink pointing back to my website.

Press Releases
Press releases are a great way to drive traffic to your site.
They are also an awesome source of backlinks.
And we all know that Press Releases are being used by all of the big dogs of any industry.
It makes a lot of sense to do it.
They are an effective and inexpensive (for the most part) way of promoting your website.
In fact, I use them once a month for my clients and my own sites to increase awareness.
Press Releases are a great way to get a ton of high authority backlinks in a breeze.
So they work absolutely great if you want to increase your Google rankings.
However, you need to know something.
When using press releases and leaving a link, please do so with a Brand Match Anchor Text or an URL Anchor Text.
Instead of using something like “Buy Red Shoes” to link back to your site, user your brand name and URL.

Good examples would be “www.myshoestop.com” or “My Shoe Stop”.
These are brand anchor texts and url anchor texts. Why do I suggest that?
Because otherwise you will be over-optimizing your link profile.
And that’s no-bueno for current SEO algorithms.
You can also power up a social profile like your Facebook page, your Google Plus Page, your Twitter profile and so on.
And this works wonders. So leave a link to a social profile and to an internal page for better results.

However, SEO is not the only thing you can do with a Press Release.
When submitting your press release you will notice a spike of traffic on your website.
And that’s completely normal.
Many of those visitors will be potential customers and
buyers.
So you need to make sure that you have a funnel in place so as to capture all of that traffic and value you are providing.

Outreach
One of the best ways of getting your word out there is to be featured in other people’s blog.
That’s called Guest Blogging or Outreach, and basically means that you will be providing good content on other people’s websites.
This will in return bring in traffic and authority to your business.
I’d look for posts that have lots of tweets, shares and +1s.
This usually means the post has a lot of traffic and interaction!
I usually use Buzzsumo for that.
I would take it a bit further though.

If you want to truly generate a relationship within your industry (which I strongly encourage you to do so), you should also invite people to post on your blog.
Like I’m doing with my Podcast episodes, etc.
By providing good quality content, people will be stoked to have you on their blogs!
And just think about the visits, authority and the exposure you’ll gain just by helping people finding out about you and your content.

Communities
I love communities like Reddit or Inbound.org.
This also applies to Facebook or Google Plus Communities and Facebook Groups.
When giving away value and sharing on these communities you can gain a lot of traction.
Please remember than the more moderated the community is, the better the content should be.
So don’t be afraid to send out your best content to these sites.
And join groups, interact, vote and comment. That’s the best way to grow a profile.
For example, I’ve gotten a ton of traffic from “Internet Marketing Super Friends”, one of the biggest Marketing Facebook groups out there.
I’ve been helpful enough there so as to be name “Super Friend of the Week”, and it was an honor to be part of that!

If you’re trying to game the system you’ll waste your time, your account will get shut down and you won’t achieve your goals.
The value that you put out there is the one that you get back for your business.

By giving away good quality content and brand every profile the same, you are growing on authority.
Make your profiles look like a million bucks and use every opportunity to help others.
Have a Funnel in Place
As I share on my blog and my podcast, it’s really important that you have a funnel in place to capitalize in all of that new traffic.
Turn them into customers and leads by offering even more value.
