Our family is one of the most privileged in

the world to be the custodian of some of

Africa’s truly unspoiled wilderness areas.

We recognize the responsibility we have to

protect this land for generations to come, and

know that great sacrifice is often required to

achieve this.

We are so gratified to be able to share the

Lion Sands experience with visitors from

around the world. Our vision is to help people

to open their eyes a little wider; to breathe

that bit deeper; to realize and appreciate the

magnificence of the natural wilderness areas

Lion Sands Game Reserve

is the only private reserve

to have a foot in both the

Sabi Sand Game Reserve

and Kruger National Park.

The Sand River flows

through the reserve for

11km (7mi) from northwest

to southeast, while the

Sabie River flows for 12km

(7.5mi) on the southern

boundary. Because of these

continuous water sources,

the area enjoys one of

the highest and most bio-

diverse wildlife populations

in Africa. Over two hundred

different species live

in abundance, and the

dynamic birdlife will appeal

to both seasoned and

amateur bird enthusiasts

alike.

The Sabi Sand Reserve is

renowned for the quality

of its leopard viewing, the

most elusive of predators.

Kruger National Park is

the largest game reserve

in South Africa. It covers

18,989km2 (7,332mi2) and

extends 350km (217mi)

from north to south and

60 km (37mi) from east

to west.

Established in 1898

to protect the wildlife

of the South African

Lowveld, this National

Park of nearly 2 million

hectares is unrivalled

in the diversity of its

life forms, and holds its

place as a world leader in

advanced environmental

management techniques

and policies.

With more large mammal

species than any other

African game reserve,

over four hundred and

fifty species of birds, and

a vast plethora of reptiles,

insects and smaller game,

visitors are in for a real

treat.

The Lion Sands Treehouses are the ultimate bush

bedrooms. Arrive at sunset to a scrumptious picnic

dinner, and spend the hours of dusk fully appreciating

the vastness of the bushveld as it transforms from

day to night. Slumber directly beneath the Milky

Way where you may well lose count of the shooting

stars.

The More Community Trust is a non-profit
