Here are some recommendations that you should considerate and might help you.

Do you have some problems with our tools?

Some usual problems reported on our support forum are originated from script conflict with 3th party tools. If you know Joomla suficient enough, you already know that there is a huge amount of solutions and extensions available for free or some commercial from other team or developers. Naturally, you will search others extension to complete some particular funcionality and your website needs, but understand that we are responsable only for our templates and tools; and we cannot garantee that all 3th party extensions will work perfectly along with our tools. So, it is your hands and it is your responsabity to choose those extensions on Joomla Comunity. Anyway, you always can ask for support in our forum and if is possible, we will try to help you.

Another usual problem reported in our forum, is related with permissons on files and directory. Some tools need that some specific files are set with rewrite or read permissions, so you can find some problems if you don’t have this permissions set. Take note that we cannot control your server security configuration, but we can point you directions were you must change this permissions. If you are unable to change it, we recommend that you contact your host server provider.

Overview files

The first step to start working with our free Joomla !1.5 module is downloading the News Show Pro GK1 package, available on our free download extension section. The installation is quite simple and it should not be a problem, if you follow correctly this instrutions.

IMPORTANT!!! Be sure to unpack the file first, before start working on it.

After the download is done, you need to unpack the news_show_pro_gk1_pack.zip file.

Let’s get started by showing a brief overview of the files available inside the News Show Pro GK1 pack.

mod_news_pro_gk1.zip » (Installation: use the Joomla Installer).This file is the module and must be installed using the Joomla Installer.

News Show Pro GK1 Installation

Using your Joomla! Administrator, navigate to the administrative panel on your website. From the top menu, select “Extensions > Install/Uninstall”

Click the ‘browse’ button, select the mod_news_pro_gk1.zip file and press ‘Upload File & Install.’

If all goes well, a message will appear saying ‘Upload Module - Success’

After installation is set, it will display an overview of the module.

Now that the News Show Pro GK1 is available on your Modules Manager, let’s take a look inside of the module configuration and see what’s able to do.

News Show Pro GK1 configuration

From the top menu, navigate to select “Extensions > Module Manager”, find the News Show Pro GK1 module on the available list and click on it to edit configuration.

Find the News Show Pro GK1 module on the available list and click on it to edit the module configuration.

Inside, you will be able to configurate the different parameters that will allow to select to articles to display on the module and also to style it’s content.

Start by selecting on the details panel (on left side) the option to enable the module, set it on the desired module position on your template and also, set menu assignment to determine the pages were the module will be show.

Next, let’s get to the right side of this page, were you find all the module parameters. We will explain in detail each of the parameters available.

Module parameters:

Configurate the following parameters fields.

Module Class Suffix:

A suffix to be applied to the css class of the module (table.moduletable), this allows individual module styling.

Module unique ID:

Unique ID for module (must be unique if you have two or more modules on one page) (i.e. newspro1).

Main block width:

The width of main articles block. It must be always integer value (in pixels) (i.e. 400).

Links block width:

The width of links block. It must be always integer value (in pixels) (i.e. 300).

Table cell padding:

Set padding for table cells. Add px or % suffix ! (i.e. 3px).

Section:

Section which will be source of news headings.

Category:

Category which will be source of news headings.

Sections:

Sections which will be source of news. IDs separated by comma.... (i.e. 2,5).

Categories:

Categories which will be source of news. IDs separated by comma... (i.e. 3,5)

IDs of news, separated by comma... (i.e. 3,5)

Module mode:

In category mode links are connected with main articles. Main articles and links have always one page (amount of pages depends on amount of categories). In category mode field ID’s will not work !

Amount of articles pages:

Max. amount of articles pages. (it works only in standard mode).

Amount of links pages:

Max. amount of links pages. (it works only in standard mode).

Amount of columns:

The amount of columns in one table with main articles (columns per page)...

Amount of rows:

The amount of rows in one table with main articles (rows per page)...

Links amount:

Amount of links per page (in category mode - amount of links per one category).

News sort value:

Value to sort in database by Date, Title, Order, Random, Frontpage order or Hits.

News sort order:

Order of sort in database by asceding or descending.

Showing frontpage articles:

Enable it if you want to show frontpage articles.

Show unauthorize links:

If you want to show all articles without getting informations about user permissions.

Show only frontpage articles:

Enable this option if you want to show only frontpage links.

Number of first news:

It is usable when you need articles in tabmods - you can show first 5 news from categor and in other instance you can show next 5 articles (then set this option as 5).

Show list with links:

Enable it if you want to show list with links.

Select position of list with links:

Set list links to bottom, float left or right position.

Show category name:

Enable it to display category name on category mode.

Readmore:

News readmore button text.

News header - link: News image - link: News text - link:

Logical values to display respective links from elements.

Select creating or publishing date of news.

Author name:

Options by Name, Username or Alias.

With the previous fields you can set styling positions of different elements.

The previous fields represent the news content order elements that are set graphically by checking each radio buttons with diferent values. This will set the order of display.

Logical values to enable nofollow atribute on respective links elements.

Max. amount of chars in list element title:

Set value of characters to be display in the list links title.

Max. amount of chars in list element text:

Set value of characters to be display in the list links text.

Show description in list:

Enable this option if you want to display description on link list.

Clean (X)HTML in content:

If you load part of news content then we recommend to turn ON this option.

Plugin support:

If you want to use images (for example, as thumbnails) from groups build on Photoslide. Enable ONLY if you have installed Photoslide GK3 Component (see respective chapter).

Use only plugin images:

If you want to use only images from Photoslide GK3 group and not from articles.

Use default image:

You can use default image from group to be displayed on every articles without images on their content.

Create Thumbnails:

Enable if you want to generate thumbnails from the article image. This option will reduze substancialy page time loading. Very Important! Please insure rewrite permissions on cache folder on module directory.

News image height:

Set height value of the image. Add px or % suffix ! (example 100px). If you leave this value as “0”, the original image height will be assumed.

News image width:

Set width value of the image. Add px or % suffix ! (example 100px). If you leave this value as “0”, the original image width will be assumed.

News image margin:

The margin of the news image. Add px or % suffix ! (i.e. 3px or 0 3px). The first example, you will provide full sides margin. The second one, you will atribute margin only for left and right side of image.

Thumbnails background:

Set background color in hex value for generated thumbnails (i.e.) #FFFFFF.

Thumbnails stretch:

Enable if you want to generated thumbnails stretching according to images dimensions set on the module.

Thumbs quality:

Set generated thumbnails quality in percentage (i.e.) 95%.

Cache time:

Set cache time for thumbnails in minutes. 0 value means no cache.

Autoanimation:

Enable this option if you want autoanimation in main block articles.

Animation speed:

Specify animation speed in ms. (i.e 500).

Animation interval:

Specify time animation interval in ms. (i.e. 5000).

Module advanced parameters:

Parse plugins:

If you want to enable parsing plugins in article content - please enable this option.

Clean plugins code:

Enable this option if you want to clean all {plugin} texts from article content.

Use Mootools:

Now modules support new technique of assets JavaScripts files. Use this option only if you have a problem with scripts on your site. In other situations option automatic is strongly recommended. If you want to run more than one copy of this module on one page then set this value for disabled. Also if you have an mootools framework in version 1.11 included on your site then disable this option.

Use script:

Now modules support new technique of assets JavaScripts files. In other situations option automatic is strongly recommended. Use this option only if you have a problem with scripts on your site. If you want to run more than one copy of this module on one page then set this value for disabled.

Use compressed engine:

To minimalize filesize you can use compressed version of engine, but for debugging you should use uncompressed version of engine script (then disable this option).

Additionaly - when you use more than one copy of this module per one page then you must set this same value of this option for all instances of module.

Parse plugins:

If you want to enable parsing plugins in article content - please enable this option.

Clean plugins code:

Enable this option if you want to clean all {plugin} texts from article content.

IMPORTANT! This option can cause problems with encoding.

Use module CSS:

Disable this option when you are using template with built-in styles for this module.

MODULE ADVANCED PARAMETERS

News Show Pro GK1 Thumbnails generationThis is a new feature added on this version and it’s on experimental stage. Most probably, it will be considerated stable on next version of News Show Pro GK1 - 1.3.0, along with new possible features to be added.

Most important information that you should have in considerate, if you have any problem of thumbnails generation, you need to insure that cache directory on module have rewrite permissions or otherwise, you probably will have problems with this. So, if this is the case, use your FTP software to access your files and change permissions to 755.

Joomla!1.5.12 Users - This version of Joomla brings a bug on moving files system. So, it’s strongly recommended that you update your joomla to the latest version, or otherwise you also will have problems with this feature.

Those are the parameters available for the module configuration. Most important ones are section, category or articles ID’s identification for content display, the unique module ID and the use of script or mootools on advanced parameters. All the rest are also important also, even those for styling design, but as long as you make some pratice and gain some experience, all the configuration process will become very easy to understand. Using News Show Pro plugin on PhotoSlide GK3

Some considerations for Image display using the plugin for the PhotoSlideLike the thumbnails feature, the plugin can be essential to optimize the cache loading time of your internet page, in case you »

need to use large amount of module and number of article with image display. By using this tool, you can display a different and smaller image by creating a specific group on PhotoSlide GK3 with each image related to respective article. So, with this tool you will be able to speed up the page loading, but also gives another important option to stylish differently your front end articles announcements.

The News Show Pro plugin allows you to create different images dimensions for each image. So besides the main group »image dimension, on each slide added on the group, you can change the values for that specific image. Naturally, you need to have support enable on the module parameters and leave the dimensions fields on the module with “0” value, to avoid overrule dimensions.

Also, when you enable the plugin support, with the respective list of news configurated to be display on the module, some »mixed with those set on the PhotoSlide group, if you leave width and height “0” values, the ones not selected on PhotoSlide will display the first image of the article with default image size.

How to create group on PhotoSlide for News Show Pro GK1

Naturally, PhotoSlide GK3 component is needed and if you don’t have it, you can get it on our free download section on gavick.com. Since PhotoSlide GK3 component have is own HelpFile, we will only provide orietation to create the group.

Notice! There no need to install any plugin on PhotoSlide GK3 version, since interface is already installed by default on the component.

So, navigate to Components > Gavick ProtoSlide GK3 and click on Add Group button:

HSet the following parameters of the group and save it.

The News Show Pro GK1 group built on PhotoSlide GK3 is done. Now, you need to add slide content on it. So, press on the group name “News Show Pro”.

Group name:

Set you group ID by providing a name.

Group description:

Give description of the group.

Select group type:

Most Important! Here you must be sure to select from the drop down list the “Group for News Show Pro GK1 ...” type.

Image width:

Set width value for image in px.

Image height:

Set height value for image in px.

Background:

Set background color for image display in hex code (i.e. #FFFFFF).

Image quality:

You can control image quality in percentage (Recommended 95%).

Start by adding your first slide by clicking on “Add Slide” button, set the following parameters and save.

WARNING!!! It is very important to have set ONLY one image in Photoslide connected with one article - if you set more images connected to same article, most probally will cause some problems. The only exception is when is created with diferent level access.

After you build your News Show Pro GK1 group on PhotoSlide GK3, now it’s time to see how we can display on the module. So, navigate to “Extensions > Module Manager > News Pro GK1” and click on it.

Name:

Give name ID for your image.

Image:

Patch you image for uploading .

Access:

You can set special access for User level display on each image.

Image width:

Set width of image, if you want to display with different dimensions set on the group configuration by default. If not, leave it with “0” value.

Image height:

Set height of image, if you want to display with different dimensions set on the group configuration by default. If not, leave it with “0” value.

Article:

Select the article for image display.

Style:

If your source image have different dimensions from the group configuration, recommend “stretch” option, for size automatic adjustment.

Remember the module parameters chapter? So, how do we display those images added on the PhotoSlide GK3 group?

Naturally, you need to configurate your module in way to display the article that you select on the group to have images from PhotoSlide. After this is done, go to “Plugin Support” parameter and select “Enable” option.

Save the module configuration and let’s see the result on front page. As you know the native Jooma Newsflash 1 article from basic installation doesn’t have any image. Now, as you can see on the screenshot, there the one that we add on the PhotoSlide GK3 group..

Simple, isn’t it?

Let’s test the different image dimension feature. So, i return to the PhotoSlide GK3 group for News Pro GK1 and i will add another image with different dimensions front the group.

And there you have it. The Newsflash 2 article have now it’s own image on PhotoSlide with a different dimensions set by default on the group. So, this feature gives you a great control for styling your News Show Pro GK1 content display.

News Pho GK1 plugin on PhotoSlide GK2 version.

For some reason, if you need to use the News Show Pro GK1 plugin on the previous version of PhotoSlide GK2, you will need to install the plugin on the component to have available this feature. So, see the respetive HelpFile of PhotoSlide GK2 version and you will see how to install the respective plugin.

Important! The Plugin must be installed using the PhotoSlide GK2 plugin installer. Do not use the Joomla Installer.

Even if you have need to use the PhotoSlide GK2 version, for example, because you like some specific News Image module style that is not available on PhotoSlide GK3 version, you can have both component installed on your Joomla Website.

On the right screenshoot, you see an example with main block news display on the left and the list block set on the right side.

Module variation: If you leave blank the Module Class Suffix field, this will be the style that you will get (lite version).

In this next screenshoot, you can see the same module, but with different variation style.

Module variation: If you set “[space]dark” the Module Class Suffix field, this will be the style that you will get (dark version).

Important! Please, leave a space before dark word, like “[space]dark”.
