Color ramps and data classification

• Categorical data – distinctive colors• Numerical data – color ramps

Categorical data – land use

Numerical data – percentages, etc.

Red is a good color to have for the largest value. From the example here, the highest density areas “pop” out of the map in red

Numerical – color ramps: lightest to darkest

This legend is not a good example. It’s always best to have largest #s at the bottom.
