The Church has always prayed for the sick to be
freed from pain and restored to health. An anointing
may be scheduled before or after a Mass or during
the week.

“MASS IMPACT”.
We are happy to report that the number of people registered for Small Groups
has increased more than 25% over last Fall’s registrants!
Groups will be meeting every day of the week, at various times.
Below are the times groups will be meeting.
Some groups have room for additional members.
Sunday: 6:15-7:45 p.m. (following Life Teen Mass)
Monday: 9 a.m. Women; 9:30 a.m. Parent/child; 6 p.m. during PSR

Second Collection for Hurricane
and Earthquake Victims
A second collection will be taken this weekend, Oct. 7 &
8, to benefit the victims of recent natural disasters.
Funds will go to Catholic Charities USA for victims of
Hurricane Maria and to Catholic Relief Services for vic-
tims of the earthquake in Mexico.
Please make checks payable to Holy Martyrs Church.
Funds will be distributed to the two charities by the
USCCB Office of National Collections.
Next weekend is Holy Martyrs Ministry of Assistance
food and donation weekend. Certain staples are always
needed, like pasta and spaghetti sauce, cereal, tuna,
peanut butter, soups, canned vegetables. Checks made
out to Holy Martyrs with Ministry of Assistance (MOA) on
the memo line are always welcome and very much ap-
preciated. Thank you for helping those in need.
El Salvador Trip Signup Deadline is Oct. 15
Thinking about joining us on our pilgrimage to El
Salvador? The deadline for signing up to go is
October 15th. The trip is January 21st - 28th.
Deposits will be due on November 1st.

Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment
The Institute of Catholic Studies will hold a Panel on
Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment: Preparing for
the Next Synod.
Edward, Hahnenberg, Ph.D., will moderate the panel on
Thursday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the LSC Confer-
ence Room in the DJ Lombardo Student Center at John
Carroll University.
This discussion is free and open to the public and spon-
sored by JCU’s Institute of Catholic Studies.

Catholic Charities’ Incredible Years Parenting Program
The Incredible Years Parenting Program offers free classes on a weekly basis at two locations. Child-
care and food are provided. Medina Catholic Charities sessions are on Oct. 12, 19 and 26 from 5:45 to
7:45 p.m. Oaks Family Care Center sessions in Brunswick are on Oct. 10, 17, 24 and 31 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
