We are invited again to a banquet. It is a wedding banquet where it is an honor to be invited. Those who were invited decide they don’t want to attend but rather go about their business on their farm or place of work. Some mistreat or even kill the messengers. If we want to refuse an invitation we only need to explain nicely. If this is a wedding feast to which Jesus invites us, he invites for a second time. There are no exclusions with Jesus. All of us are invited, whether we are important or not. We are all brothers and sisters of Jesus. Jesus and his Father decided and declared this to all who would listen. If the invitation came today, how would you react? We may decline this in a polite way. If we know it was God speaking to us, we might have a different reaction. But do we recognize when God is speaking to us? We must learn to listen when God speaks to us. Perhaps God also wants to hear us speaking. What we should do is to stop, slow down a bit. Take five minutes or more each day and just tell God that we are listening because we want to hear that voice of the one who created us and gifted us as brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ, God’s precious son.
