Comparable Particular:

Something that is COMMON to both the Ancient and Modern context.

Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Non-Comparable Particular:

Something SPECIFIC to either the Ancient or Modern culture

2 Timothy 4:13 “When you come bring the cloak which I left at Troas with Carpus, and the books, especially the parchments.”

Some Elements are Comparable to both cultures while Others are Not.

Primary Need: To ascertain WHAT God has said in sacred Scriptures; to determine the MEANING of the Word of God

Literary Context: Words only have meaning in sentences.

Literal Translations:– Imposes syntax & grammar of the

Original Language on the Receptor Language.

– Value: Shows what original language looked like
