STAGES OF THE HERO’S JOURNEY

The hero starts off in their normal world, but is then presented with some information that acts as a call to

head off into the unknown.

In the film Avatar, RDA recruits Jake to take his murderedbrother’s place on Pandora and become an Avatar.

In The Lord of the Rings, Frodo is given the One Ring b!andalf in order to keep it safe.

In Harry Potter " it comes literall as a #ritten invitation to

$%og#arts &chool of 'itchcraft and 'i(ardr.)

In tar !ars" *uke receives the call as a plea recorded ina hologram.

THE CALL TO ADVENTURE

The hero refuses the challenge or "ourney##usually becausehe feels a sense of duty or obligation, fear, insecurity, or a

sense of inade$uacy.

In Avatar, Jake’s is torn bet#een his allegiance to RDA and

his gro#ing connection to the +a’vi.

In The Lord of the Rings" Frodo tries to give the Ring backto !andalf.

In The Lord of the Rings" the #i(ard !andalf mentors Frodo" 0ust as he
