What do Herpetologists do
Conduct the research of reptiles and amphibians
Study how they are related, what they do, and how they live.
Also study the changes in the environment for the government.

Dr. J. Whitfield Gibbons Herpetologist Works at Savannah River Ecology
Laboratory. Studies amphibians and reptiles, and
their wildlife. Went to college to get a degree in
biology, zoology, and ecology.
The SCANS skills he uses Mostly, uses reading everyday. Sometimes, has to work together. And with groups of people to fugure out
things. He is very familiar with working with
reptiles and amphibians. Also he is known for his research on
sniping turtles.
Cool interesting facts Herpetology comes from a Greek word
that means “creeping”. Amphibians and reptiles lay eggs and
mammals do not. Some lizards can fly, and up to 65 feet. The oldest reptile fossil is about 280
million years old.
