    b. The perturbations to camera rota t ion causedby spacecraf t torquing.c . Effects of s tar t-up t ransients - - par t icu la r ly film supply and takeup spools.d. Effects of c. g. sh i f t s due to fi lm movement.

In addit ion to the above analyt ical s tudies , a fu l lsca le s ingle camera mock-up wil l be designed and bui l t .The design ef for t should include a survey of pas t experience with large a ir bearings of th i s type, par t icular lyunder near vacuum environmental condit ions. The primarypurposes of th is mock-up wil l be to t e s t a ir bearingoperat ion under operat ional environmental condit ions, andto t e s t and evaluate the performance of the s l ip r ingstha t provide e lec t r i ca l coupling between the opt ical barand the space c ra f t . These t es t s wi l l include s tar t -upand stopping as well as s teady-state operat ion. To th isend, the weights and balances of the mock-up should beas rea l i s t i c as possible , consis tant with the prevail ings tage of the camera design.

A secondary purpose of the mock-up t es t s wil l be toinstrument for vibrat ion measurements insofar as they aredeemed useful and feas ible .

The product of th is s ix month ef for t wil l be a deta i led report covering the analyt ical s tudies outl inedabove, and a second repor t covering the mock-up designand experimental re su l t s . This second report should in clude an ext rapolat ion of the t e s t re su l t s to f ree fa l lcondit ions, as well as an examination of the launch loadsproblem. The mock-up experiments should be suff ic ient lydetai led and def ini t ive to permit immediate engineeringdeSign of a high confidence bearing and s l ip r ing conf igurat ion.One of the reports should include a summary sec t iondiscussing the est imated ef fec t s on image quali ty due togross camera dynamics (not including film velocity a ireffec ts ) .
