Dear Parents & Caregivers This is our nal Newsletter for Term 1 of 2019. We celebrated Harmony Day last Friday. It was a beautiful day with our students taking part inlearning that supports our ideals as a community. We had many students wear orange as wellas their national dress. Our classes have newly designed artwork displayed in the hall thatwere part of the learning that took place in classrooms. Thank you to Mrs Khandharixay forher hard work in making it a great day. This week we will continue with our school photos. Sibling photos will be taken on Thursday28th. We have our last Care Believe Succeed Assembly for the term this Friday at 10am. Welook forward to celebrating with these students as well as congratulating our library monitorsand presenting their badges for 2019. Year Five head off to Camp next week. They are all very excited and we look forward tohearing of their adventures. Our School Cross Country is Friday April 5th. Parents and carers will have received the notewith all the information. Our teachers have worked hard on redesigning our course to

PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE

This year, all students from Harrington Park Public School will participate in the Premier’sReading Challenge. The challenge opened on March 4th and closes Friday August 30th. To successfully complete the challenge, children must read books that are part of thePremier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) list for their stage. Students in Kindergarten-Year 2 canhave books read aloud to them by an adult. Class teachers are keeping a log of books they arereading with their individual class, which will then be entered for these students as theirreading log. Students in Years 3-6 have to read their books themselves. At school, they are keeping a paperStudent Reading Record of all the books they are reading in class. Students are alsoencouraged to use their Department of Education login which is usually[email protected] and their password to log in to the Premier’sReading Challenge website and ll out the online Student Reading Record for books read athome.

Our school library along with Camden Council libraries have a variety of PRC books for eachage group, clearly marked with a sticker. Children are encouraged to borrow from theselibraries in pursuit of completing the challenge. The Premier’s Reading Challenge website alsohas all the booklists and search functions for each age group.
