In this lesson we talk about
second conditional.
We use it….1. For future actions dependent on the result
of another future action or event, where there is only a small possibility of the conditions for the action being satisfied.
Example: If I won lottery, I would stop working.
We use it…
2 For imaginary present actions, where the condition for the action are NOT satisfied.
Example: If you phoned more often, they wouldn’t worry about you.
FormationThis structure puts if and the past simple
together with would and the infinitive:
If + past simple, would + verb
If I had £5 milions, I would buy an islandIf I had a car, I would never catch a bus again.
Positive-Negative-Question forms
First or second conditional?1° cond sentences are real and possible; 2° cond

Ex. If I have enough money, I’ll buy some new shoes. (it’s much more likely that’ll have enough money to buy some shoes) 1° cond.
Ex. If I had enough money, I would buy a house with twenty bedrooms and a swimming pool. (I probably not going to have this much money, it’s just a dream, not very real) 2° cond.
