INTRODUCTION
WHY EARTHING?
HI-REL Earthing Electrode is a systematic Pipe Earthing System designed in accordance to IS : 3043 (1987).
The system consists of two electrodes- Primary Earth Electrode and Secondary Earth Electrode. Both the
electrodes are subjected to hot dip galvanization process. After galvanization, secondary electrode is inserted
inside the primary electrode. The empty space between the two is pressure filled with highly conductive
crystalline mixture of metal alloys and other conductive materials. This pressure filled mixture enhances the
capacity of electrode electrically as well as mechanically, both the ends of the electrodes are sealed, with the
end terminal having two holes at the top for connecting the earthing system to the equipment/load.
HI-REL Copper Bonded Earth Electrode is a systematic pipe earthing system designed in
accordance to IS: 3043 (1987). The system consist of steel rod with High Tensile Strength, Low Carbon
steel core having terminal with four holes for connection . The earth electrode has a electrolytic coating of
copper deposits and it forms a metallurgical bond between the steel core and the copper. This
combination makes the rod ideal for deep driving during which it never cracks or bended. The standard
copper thickness is 0.25 mm. HI-REL copper bonded ground electrodes have a high resistance to
corrosion and provides a low resistance path to ground.
HI-REL Earthing Electrode is a systematic Pipe Earthing System designed in accordance to IS : 3043
(1987). the system consists of Primary Earth Electrode and GI strip. The Primary Electrode and Strip is
subjected to hot dip galvanization (80-100microns) process. After galvanization, strip is inserted inside the
primary electrode to the full length and the empty space is pressure filled with highly conductive crystalline
mixture of metal alloys and other conductive material. This pressure filled mixture enhances the capacity of
electrode electrically as well as mechanically. Both the ends of the electrode is sealed with extended strip to
act as end terminal at top end. The terminal has two holes for connecting the earthing system to the
equipment/load.
HI-REL Earthing Electrode is a systematic Pipe Earthing System designed in accordance to IS : 3043
(1987). The system consists of Copper Tube Earth Electrode having purity of 99.9%. The empty space is
pressure filled with highly conductive crystalline mixture of metal alloys and other conductive material. This
pressure filled mixture enhances the capacity of electrode electrically as well as mechanically. Both the
ends of the electrodes are permanently sealed, with the extended terminal having two holes at the top for
connecting the earthing system to the equipment/load.

NOTE
HI-REL ground improving material is a Homogenous Mixture of naturally occuring highly
conductive element compounds that enhances the effectiveness of the earthing to a great extent
especially in the area of poor conductivity such as rocky and sandy etc. It is placed around the earth
electrode in the pit to improve the conductivity of earth electrode and ground conduct area. It has a
low resistance and is hygroscopic in nature thereby retaining moisture around earth electrode
during dry seasons. It is non toxic, non explosive, non reactive, non corrosive, thermally stable and
swell considerably. Thus remove intrapped air, thereby creating strong connection between
electrode and soil. The greatest advantage of this product is that it eliminates use of charcoal and
salt and does not shrink or crack with time.
GROUND ENHANCING BACKFILL COMPOUND

Bore a Pit prefererably 4-8” dia as per the Length of Earth Electrode.·Mix ground enhancing Compound with the dug out soil.·Put some quantity of soil mix Compound into the Pit.·Place the electrode inside the Pit (remove Plastic Strips) such that end terminal is above ·the ground.
Do not Hammer or cut Electrode while installation.·Refill the space around the Electrode with small quantity and pour some water then again ·put some Compound and pour the water, keep this process till the Earth Electrode is fully
burried in the Pit.
Test the earth resistivity of the Earth Electrode.·Apply Petroleum Jelly on Terminal and Terminal Hole.·Connect the Wire/Strip of the Equipment at on Earth Terminal.·Place the Chamber over the Earth Electrode.·Do proper water pouring upto 3-5 days after installation.·
