Hi-Tech Preinsulated Pipes (S) Pte Ltd and Hi-Tech Preinsulated Pipes (M) Sdn Bhd, members of the Seng Choon Group of Companies, manufacture preinsulated pipes utilizing the latest polyurethane technologies. Our high output polyurethane injection machine and spiral tubeforming machine can produce preinsulated pipes from Dia. 15mm up to Dia. 1000mm.

COST SAVINGS Preinsulated pipes are produced in mass production on project basis, and all raw materials directly imported to maintain competitive prices. The preinsulated pipes will be supplied to site fully jacketed and insulated to minimize site work and site wastage
FLEXIBLE DESIGN SYSTEM Preinsulated pipes are manufactured in accordance to each project specification and requirements. Tailor made design and any special requests are easily formulated. Hi-Tech Preinsulated Pipes have been used for various applications such as refrigerant, chilled water, hot water pipes, etc..
AIR-TIGHT OUTER JACKET The outer jacket is produced by using spiral wound four-ply hydraulic locking system in inside lockseamed. The spiral jacket is completely air-tight and has high compressive strength and rigidity.
QUALITY CONTROL All preinsulated pipes are produced under strict quality control in the factory to ensure each pipe meets specifications. Well-trained QC personnel are stationed at each step of the production process to ensure the highest product standard.
LOWEST THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY Polyurethane foam having the lowest thermal conductivity among commercial insulation materials that results in excellent insulation properties and durability.

GUIDE SPECIFICATION FOR HI-TECH PREINSULATED PIPES
RECOMMENDED SPECIFICATION FOR PREINSULATED PIPES IS AS FOLLOWS:
Hi-Tech Preinsulated Pipes are factory preinsulated and consist of carrier pipes insulated with rigid polyurethane foam which are protected with outer jackets.
A preinsulated pipe consists of the following main components:

1 / CARRIER PIPES The carrier pipes are available in black steel, galvanized steel and plastic.

Dia. 200 to 650mm – API 5L Grade B; ASTM A53/A106 Grade B; JIS G3452
Dia. 700 to 1000mm – API 5L Grade B
Dia. 20 to 110mm – PP-R and POB Pipes
2 / INSULATION HCFC 141b blown system is presently used as drop-in replacement for Freon system and has been widely used in pipe preinsulation. It has the advantage of good thermal conductivity. Other blown systems with zero ODP and almost none GWP such as Water (CO2), Ecomate and C-Pentane will be available in the future to meet the market needs.
2.1 / PhySICAL PROPERTIES OF POLyUREThANE FOAM Polyurethane foam (HCFC 141b blown system) that is machine injected and foamed in place completely filling the annular space between carrier pipe and outer jacket has the following physical properties.
3 / JACKET The jacket materials are specified and are sufficiently sized to allow for desired insulation thickness for optimum performance of piping system.
3.1 / FOR ABOVEGROUND PREINSULATED PIPES: HOT-DIPPED GALVANIzED STEEL JACKETS. Hi-Tech galvanized steel jackets which have spiral internal or external lockseams provide excellent protection for the insulation and form an air-tight vapor barrier.
3.2 / FOR UNDERGROUND PREINSULATED PIPES: HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (HDPE) CASING. HDPE casing is corrosion and impact resistance and can be direct buried.

DEW POINT The following graph shows the dew point temperature at which condensations forms on the pipe.
EXAMPLE If the ambient temperature in a facility is 35ºC and the relative humidity is 85%, the intersection of the two shows that the Dew Point is reached at a temperature of 32ºC. This means that moisture vapor in the 35 ºC / 85% RH air will condense on the chiller pipe surface that is at the Dew Point temperature of 32ºC.
TYPICAL CALCULATION:
Ambient Temperature (Ta) = 35 ºC
Relative Humidity = 85%
Dew Temperature (Td) = 32 ºC
Chiller Water Temperature (Tw) = 6 oC
Dull metallic surface still air, α = 8 (W/m2K)
Insulation Thickness (L) = K(Td-Tw) / α(Ta-Td) = 0.021*(32-6) / 8*(35-32) = 0.023m = 23mm
Then a safety margin should be added in 50% is typical. The insulation thickness V.S cost of Air Conditioner unit and energy consumption should be also taken into account.
Therefore, typical pre-insulation thickness to prevent condensation is 23mm x 1.5 = 34.5mm

Note: 1. Hi-Tech preinsulated pipes have 150mm exposed ends to facilitate field joining. Jackets are about 5.7m long.
2. Insulation thickness and foam weight of carrier pipes shown on above tables indicate calculated value only. Actual weight varies due to tolerance of carrier pipe OD and manufacturing dimensional tolerance of steel jacket.
3. Insulation thicknesses shown on above tables are based on specifications of carrier pipes : Dia.15mm to 150mm – BS 1387 Heavy or Medium Gauge; Dia. 200 to 650mm - API 5L Gr.B, ASTM A53 Gr.B; Dia. 700 to 1000mm - API 5L Grade B.
4. For insulation thickness and foam weight, there are slight differences between API 5L Gr.B and BS1387 pipes on Dia.65mm, 125mm and 150mm; so are API 5L Gr.B and JIS pipes on Dia.200mm, 250mm and 300mm.
