High Quality Childcare and Education in a Rural Setting
Welcome to Casterton Childcare Centre
The setting was purpose built and opened in March 1995, providing care and education for
children aged from 6 weeks to 5 years old. We pride ourselves on really getting to know each
child and how they learn and develop. We recognise each child as an individual and allow
them to flourish in an environment of equal opportunity and respect.
At Casterton we want our children to be happy individuals, therefore our aim it to
Provide a happy atmosphere in which children may thrive.
Provide an environment and active learning experiences which take account of, and react
to, the children’s developmental needs and interests. ‘What the child can do’ will be our
starting point.
Ensure the children have positive experiences of success at their own levels, in order to give
them confidence and motivation for their future learning.
Provide a curriculum which offers purposeful learning opportunities and endorses the
principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Create a partnership with parents and the local
community that encourages and enriches the
development of the children.
Inspire all children to become happy,
independent, social and kind individuals.
Nurture the child’s own unique personality.
Dedicated and Well Qualified Staff
Caring for your children is a passionate, energetic and hardworking
team of professionals, some of whom are long serving members of staff.
Our team have or are working towards relevant qualifications ranging
from Level 2 to Level 6 and above. We also believe in developing our
current practice and knowledge by accessing training both in-house
and through outside agencies.
Our Caterpillar Room
6 weeks -18 months
Our Caterpillar Room is a bright and calming room with an atmosphere similar to a home environment. Staff
work closely with parents to get to know the children’s individual routines, allowing them to feel safe and secure.
Our children in the Caterpillar Room are given a variety of different experiences, taking in to account their
developmental milestones. These include sensory and messy play, music and singing, and they regularly explore
the outdoor area, giving them a sense of the world around them.
"I’m extremely happy! I
feel great comfort knowing
my child is cared for and
encouraged to positively
develop"
Our Ladybird Room
18 months—2 ½ years
Our children in the Ladybird room are encouraged to become more independent learners. Through the layout
of the room and the low level furniture, the children have the freedom to choose their own resources which
helps them to develop their skills. The routine is a little more structured and our children are encouraged to
participate in the planned learning activities that are on offer, giving them chances to socialise, build friend-
ships and share. Children also have the opportunity to explore the outdoor area, both the baby garden and the
larger garden.
Our Honey and Bumble Bee Room
2 years —3 years
The Honey and Bumble Bee Room is a light spacious
environment set out to allow the children to choose their
own learning, the resources and opportunities for first hand
educational experiences are at the children’s finger tips.
Our children are encouraged to continue to develop their
independence skills both with dressing and eating. The
routine is structured and planned learning activities take
account of the children’s interests, along with a variety of
child initiated learning. We offer a free flow system, indoors
and out so our children can choose where they would like
to explore. Snack and lunch times are very sociable, giving
our children the opportunity to try new foods and the
encouragement to serve themselves.
I am so pleased I chose
Casterton Childcare Centre for
my daughter. Her personal
development has been
amazing and I am happy to
leave her with such caring and
helpful staff.
Our Preschool Room (Butterflies)
We have a separate Preschool classroom that was designed
specifically to cater for our Butterfly children. Our Preschool
environment allows our children to move freely between
leaning experiences both indoors and out, and staff plan a
vast array of educational experiences for the children, taking
into account their interests, creating next steps for the chil-
dren’s development. The Preschool children are exposed to
an atmosphere of rich language and learn the phonic sounds
in a fun and active way. We also offer Forest School sessions
for our children within the local community.
“I love that the
Nursery offers a
Forest School.
My child has

weaning, blending any foods necessary
to support parents.

fruit, vegetables and rice snacks through-
out the week and water or milk to drink.
Water is also available throughout the
