Highbury Hall was built in 1876 for Joseph Chamberlain MP, the eminent politician. Highbury Hall itself has outstanding character, retains many original features and provides a setting of distinction for wedding couples from all around the world by creating the ideal setting for couples to exchange their vows. At Highbury Hall we are totally committed to meeting the needs of your guests and take pride in arranging and hosting successful weddings. We have provided all the information you need to take the first step towards making your day a special occasion.
Highbury Hall is licensed to conduct civil wedding and partnership ceremonies in the magnificent Drawing Room, with its ornate wooden ceiling and stunning views overlooking the landscaped grounds of Highbury Hall.
The Main Hall is the perfect place to wine and dine up to 100 guests for a formal wedding breakfast. We will announce the happy couple from Miss Hilda’s Room, a dedicated room for the bride and groom, following the drinks reception outside in the garden or in the Dorothy Lloyd Room if the weather does not permit.
The Drawing Room is a flexible space, with a built in dance floor, room for a DJ or band with seating for you and your guests to mingle and boogie the night away. Up to 160 guests can mingle between the Drawing Room, Main Hall and Dorothy Lloyd Room for the evening reception.
Highbury Hall has 30 on-site parking spaces, as well as free on-street parking. Highbury Hall is available for hire seven days a week.

World Class HospitalityGood food is an important part of any wedding. Here at Highbury Hall we are proud of the exceptional high standard and varied menus that we offer. Using only the finest of locally sourced produce, all of our menus are designed to cater for a full range of tastes.
We have developed a menu selector, giving you the freedom and flexibility to put together your own tailor made wedding breakfast and evening buffet menu. Our team of experts are on hand to help you with your menu choices and wines to compliment each course. Our prices are based on a minimum of 60 adult guests for the meal, although smaller parties may be considered with prior approval from the Civic Catering team. All of our prices are exclusive of VAT except for the room hire, which is VAT exempt.
In addition to our drinks packages, a paying or credit bar can be made available to your guests in the Dorothy Lloyd room. We are able to provide a range of draught and bottled beers as well as a range of premium spirits.

Birmingham has a diverse mix of cultures and people from different ethnic backgrounds. At Highbury Hall we can offer you a variety of catering options through our list of approved external caterers, including many Asian and Afro-Caribbean caterers.
All of our approved external caterers have been fully vetted and carefully selected in accordance with our own standards. You will have a dedicated Venue Assistant to liaise with you and the caterers throughout the booking process.

External Caterers
Planning Your Day at Highbury Hall
We are happy to hold a date as a provisional booking for your wedding. Your booking will be held for a period of two weeks, giving you time to confirm your details with the Registrar. Please note that bookings with the Register Office may only be made up to 24 months in advance.
Our local Registrars from Birmingham Register Office perform all civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies.
Once you have established availability with both the Registrar and Highbury Hall, you can then make a provisional booking with us. The Birmingham Register Office can be contacted on 0121 675 1000.
There is a fee to be paid for the use of the Drawing Room for your civil marriage/partnership. This does not include the fees for the Registrar, which are payable direct.
Alternatively, if you would like to hold your ceremony elsewhere and hold your wedding reception at Highbury Hall you can contact us direct and provisionally book your preferred date.
Once you have decided that you wish to confirm your provisional booking, we ask that you contact us within the two week period and return the necessary completed paperwork so that we make arrangements to raise an invoice for a deposit equal to the room hire rate. Payment of a deposit will secure your booking. This deposit is non-refundable or transferable. Please refer to our conditions of booking for further details.
Your dedicated Venue Assistant will liaise with you throughout the booking process. Approximately three months prior to your big day we will arrange to discuss your requirements for your wedding. At this appointment we ask that you provide us with an indication of your numbers and menu choices in order for us to raise an invoice with your estimated costs.
An invoice will be raised approximately 7 weeks prior to your wedding based on the information you gave at your appointment. This invoice must be paid 21 days before your wedding. A final invoice (or credit note) for any outstanding balances will be sent following your wedding.
We ask that you provide us with your final number of guests, together with a seating plan one week prior to your special day.

When you enter the main door of the Council House, not only will you be welcomed by our team, you and your guests will be able to admire the grand staircase leading up to the Banqueting Suite on the first floor of the Council House. When you approach the Reception area at the Banqueting Suite, you may wish to look upwards towards the ceiling and take in the beautiful dome ceiling and chandelier above the stair case.
Upon entering the Banqueting Suite, you and your guests will not only be impressed by the views across Victoria Square and the city, you will becelebrating your wedding in a unique venue, steeped in history with magnificent architecture.

Suite
The Banqueting Suite is a unique and flexible wedding venue, which can be adapted to accommodate your requirements. Our dedicated Venue Assistants will work with you to create that extra special day. We can create the perfect setting and layout for you.
The Banqueting Suite holds up to 180 daytime guests for a civil wedding or partnership ceremony, traditional wedding breakfast and reception plus a further 170 evening guests.
Alternatively, if you are only looking to hold your wedding breakfast and reception then we can accommodate up to 200 daytime guests plus a further 150 evening guests.
The Banqueting Suite is available for hire on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Civil Ceremony / Partnership charge covers the use of the Banqueting Suite and Chamberlain Room for two hoursprior to and including the ceremony.

Special Conditions
• The menus are a guide to the extensive range of cateringthat can be provided.
• The Civic Catering team is rightly proud of its ability totailor its service to deal with your specific requirementsand particularly to meet any special dietary needs.
• The prices are based on a minimum of 60 full payingadults, although smaller parties may be considered withprior approval from the Catering Manager.
• Final numbers and special dietary requirements must be confirmed 10 days prior to the function. Increasednumbers and additional special dietary requirementsafter that date will only be possible by mutual agreement(including the extra costs) between the customer and theCatering Manager.
• When selecting a menu choice, one set menu is requiredfor all your guests with the exception of special diets andchildren.
• Minimum food spend per person including coffee is£29.10 (excluding VAT).
• Provisional bookings can be held for 14 days
• A deposit equal to the room hire is required prior to yourevent taking place – the deposit is strictly non-refundable/ transferable.
• Full payment is required 21 days prior to your wedding,based on an estimated invoice.
• Customers cannot bring their own food onto thepremises, unless it is from one of our approved EthnicCaterers. Please note that different Room Hire chargesapply.
• Customers can bring their own drink into the premises,but in all instances this will be subject to a corkagecharge.

Who can use the Banqueting Suite?
The facilities are available for use by anybody for civilwedding ceremonies, civil partnership ceremonies and/orwedding receptions on Saturdays, Sundays and certainBank Holidays only.
How do I book?
The quickest way to make a provisional booking is tocontact one of the Venue Assistants on 0121 303 2050 to discuss the outline details of the function and establishwhether a suitable date is available. You will be sent aprovisional booking email and your booking will be heldfor a period of two weeks. Should you wish to proceed withyour booking then we would ask that you complete andreturn the documentation that has been emailed to youwithin the provisional booking email.
What happens next?
An invoice will be issued on receipt of the returneddocumentation that was sent to you in the provisionalbooking email. The invoice must be settled within 30 days.Your booking will be confirmed by email once the invoicehas been paid. Please note that deposits are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable.
Can I see the facilities?
Yes. Please contact the booking office to arrange anappointment with a Venue Assistant.
Can I arrange a tasting of the food and wines?
We can accommodate a food and wine tasting ahead ofyour event, subject to a small charge. Please makearrangements with a Venue Assistant.
When can I discuss the details of my event?
You will have a dedicated Venue Assistant who will guideyou through the booking process. Your dedicated VenueAssistant will contact you three months prior to your specialday to record the details of your event. A function sheet willbe emailed to you, along with the estimated costs for yourevent. This will give you the opportunity to review the eventdetails and make any amendments, as necessary.
When will I have to pay the remainder of the costs?
Once you have reviewed your function sheet andbreakdown of estimated costs, we will arrange for aninvoice to be raised 6-7 weeks prior to your special day.The invoice must be settled within 30 days of the invoice date.
Can parking be arranged?
Access can only be provided for unloading and loading.There are no parking facilities for guests attending an event at the Council House; however the Council House is centrally located near to many car parks and is easilyaccessible by bus or train. Please ask for our location mapor refer to the section ‘Floor Plans, Technical Information & Location’.
What about people with disabilities?
The Council House offers a small amount of on siteparking, level access to the building, lifts to all floors andappropriate toilet facilities. An induction loop system isavailable in the Drawing Room.
What if guests have special dietary needs?
We offer a wide range of menus and are fully experiencedand sensitive in dealing with special dietary needs.
Is there a bar available?
There is no fixed bar at the Banqueting Suite, however wehave a fully stocked mobile bar that can be madeavailable, subject to the charges indicated under ‘AncillaryServices’.
Do you have any preferred suppliers?
Civic Catering can provide you with a range of suppliers to assist you with the planning of your event, based onprevious working relationships either as a supplier to Civic Catering or as a previous exhibitor at events held atCivic Catering venues. Whilst our experiences have beenpositive, Civic Catering does not endorse these suppliers.Customers are asked to carry out their own checks onsuppliers to ensure that they meet with your satisfaction.

Are there any terms and conditions of hiring?
You must agree to the Conditions of Booking prior to your function taking place. If your function includesentertainment then you must agree to the Conditions of Letting for Entertainment.
Who provides the catering?
Catering is normally provided by Civic Catering (in-housecaterers). Civic Catering can offer a wide range of menusand are fully experienced and sensitive in dealing withspecial dietary needs. The levels of actual provision possiblewill be dependent upon the room booked. There is also anApproved list of External Caterers providing Ethnic Catering- please see separate insert for details. Please note thatdifferent Room Hire charges apply when using ourapproved External Caterers.
Please note:
Floral decorations can be arranged via the Council’scontractor.
Coatrails and microphones are provided as a standardfacility.
Entertainment can be staged within the Banqueting Suiteand a dance floor can be provided as a standard facility.

Access to Council House
The Council House is very accessible for rail, bus and cycle users as well as for visitors on foot.
New Street and Snow Hill Stations are at the centre of the national rail network.Both stations are within 10 minutes walk of the the Council House.
Most bus services terminate or travel through the City Centre. Stops are locatedwithin 5 minutes walk of the Council House.
There are public cycle parking bays in Chamberlain Square (between CouncilHouse Extension and Central Library). For authorised users there are facilitieswithin the Underground and Courtyard Car Parks.
The area in and around the Council House is pedestrianised with routes takingyou east to the main shopping centres and west to the ICC, NIA, Brindley Placeand Broad Street.

FROM THE M5, JUNCTION 3Take the junction 3 exit from the M5 and follow signs A456 toBirmingham West and Central. Special Conditions
• The menus are a guide to the extensive range of cateringthat can be provided.
• The Civic Catering team is rightly proud of its ability totailor its service to deal with your specific requirementsand particularly to meet any special dietary needs.
• The prices are based on a minimum of 50 full payingadults, although smaller parties may be considered withprior approval from the Catering Manager.
• Final numbers and special dietary requirements must beconfirmed 10 days prior to the function. Increasednumbers and additional special dietary requirementsafter that date will only be possible by mutual agreement(including the extra costs) between the customer and theCatering Manager.
• When selecting a menu choice, one set menu is requiredfor all your guests with the exception of special diets andchildren.
• Minimum food spend per person including coffee is£29.10 (excluding VAT).
• Provisional bookings can be held for 14 days
• A deposit equal to the room hire is required prior to yourevent taking place – the deposit is strictly non-refundable/ transferable.
• Full payment is required 21 days prior to your wedding,based on an estimated invoice.

Who can use Highbury?
The facilities are available for use by anybody for civilwedding ceremonies, civil partnership ceremonies and/orwedding receptions 7 days a week.
How do I book?
The quickest way to make a provisional booking is tocontact one of the Venue Assistants on 0121 303 2050 to discuss the outline details of the function and establishwhether a suitable date is available. You will be sent aprovisional booking email and your booking will be heldfor a period of two weeks. Should you wish to proceed withyour booking then we would ask that you complete andreturn the documentation that has been emailed to youwithin the provisional booking email.
What happens next?
An invoice will be issued on receipt of the returneddocumentation that was sent to you in the provisionalbooking email. The invoice must be settled within 30 days.Your booking will be confirmed by email once the invoicehas been paid. Please note that deposits are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable.
Can I see the facilities?
Yes. Please contact the booking office to arrange anappointment with a Venue Assistant.
Can I arrange a tasting of the food and wines?
We can accommodate a food and wine tasting ahead ofyour event, subject to a small charge. Please makearrangements with a Venue Assistant.
When can I discuss the details of my event?
You will have a dedicated Venue Assistant who will guideyou through the booking process. Your dedicated VenueAssistant will contact you three months prior to your specialday to record the details of your event. A function sheet willbe emailed to you, along with the estimated costs for yourevent. This will give you the opportunity to review the eventdetails and make any amendments, as necessary.
When will I have to pay the remainder of the costs?
Once you have reviewed your function sheet andbreakdown of estimated costs, we will arrange for aninvoice to be raised 6-7 weeks prior to your special day.The invoice must be settled within 30 days of the invoice date.
Can parking be arranged?
Highbury Hall has a private car park (locked overnight) andample on-street parking in the vicinity.
Can cars be left in the car park overnight?
Yes, however you will need to make prior arrangementswith the venue, as the car park is locked overnight.
What about people with disabilities?
Highbury Hall offers a small amount of disabled siteparking, level access to the building and appropriate toilet facilities.
What if guests have special dietary needs?
We offer a wide range of menus and are fully experiencedand sensitive in dealing with special dietary needs.
Is there a bar available?
Highbury Hall a fully stocked bar. Please ask for a VenueAssistant for details of our bar tariff.
Do you have any preferred suppliers?
Civic Catering can provide you with a range of suppliers to assist you with the planning of your event, based onprevious working relationships either as a supplier to CivicCatering or as a previous exhibitor at events held at CivicCatering venues. Whilst our experiences have beenpositive, Civic Catering does not endorse these suppliers.Customers are asked to carry out their own checks onsuppliers to ensure that they meet with your satisfaction.

Are there any terms and conditions of hiring?
You must agree to the Conditions of Booking prior to your function taking place. If your function includesentertainment then you must agree to the Conditions ofLetting for Entertainment.
Who provides the catering?
Catering is normally provided by Civic Catering (in-housecaterers). Civic Catering can offer a wide range of menusand are fully experienced and sensitive in dealing withspecial dietary needs. The levels of actual provision possiblewill be dependent upon the room booked. There is also anApproved list of External Caterers providing Ethnic Catering- please see separate insert for details. Please note thatdifferent Room Hire charges apply when using ourapproved External Caterers.
