Principal for a DayCongratulations to Allison Work-man who did a wonder fu l job serving as “Prin-cipal for a Day” on Thu rsday, March 14. Alli-son’s parents, Matt & Debbie Workman, pur-chased this op-portunity for her at the 2013 St. Paul Dinner Auction. Al-lison did a great job answering her messages and visiting classrooms, with the assistance of Mr. David Timmermann. Allison is the granddaughter of Governor-Elect Ken Kapp.

From the Governor Elections were held at our last meeting, and congrat-ulations go to Governor Elect Kenny Kapp and the entire board of directors elected. They will begin a new Moose year on May 1st. Thank you for the warmth and kindness you have shown me this past year. The year was enjoyable, but went by very quickly. Thank you for the hard work and energy you have supplied on all the Moose projects. Like me, you have done this because you care about Mooseheart and Moosehaven and our families in the Highland area, who need a lift once in a while. With your help, we have over the past year been able to contribute in full to HACSM our $5000 pledge. This year we also began a $1000 college scholarship fund to be awarded to a High School senior annually in memory of John Kutz. Thank you again for everything you have done, and everything you will continue to do to make our Highland Lodge 2479 the best that it can possibly be. God Bless Mooseheart.

Bill Ambuehl, Governor

Moose-Ings Thanks to the Helvetia Sharpshooters for hosting our meeting after stick pick up on April 8 and providing chicken and trimmings. Congratulations to: Jed Driemeyer who bowled a 299 game on April 2 and April 10 at Hi Top Bowl; Ryan Wirz who finished in 6th place singles scratch in GCBA Tournament at Poplar Junction with 738. Congratulations to Don Carnley whose name was drawn in the “Queen” drawing on 4/8/12 and a joker was pulled for $50.00 (not present). Collect at future meeting. Queen fund over $3100.00. Ron Smith’s name was drawn at the 3/25 meeting - five of spades.

Congratulations to Duane and Melanie Steiner whose granddaughter, Allie Steiner, was born on April 3, 2013 weighing in at 8 lbs. 3 oz. Thanks to Wayne Sackett who won the 50/50 drawing at the 3/25 meeting and the 4/8/13 meeting and donated both to the

John Kutz Scholarship Fund.

MAD Thursdays We would like for each member to wear his Moose shirt on the 3rd Thursday of each month. The next MAD (Moose Awareness Days) will be on April 18 and May 16. If you “get caught” by a Highland Member without your Moose shirt (if you are permitted to wear one to work), you will be fined $1.00 which will go to the Food Pantry.

Food Pantry Don’t forget to bring items for the Food Pantry to the next meeting. Currently they are needing fruit cocktail, jello, canned beets, salmon, chili & chili beans, saltine crackers, white potatoes, pears, pudding mix, canned peas, canned carrots, tuna helper, ketchup, chicken noodle soup and vegetable soup. Non-food needs include dish and laundry detergent, kleenex, bathroom tissue, shampoo, toothpaste and deodorant.

Moose Logo & Items Moose logos that can be put on shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, etc. are available for $5.00 at Compustitch on the square. Take your apparel to them and they will sew it on for you. We now have summer mesh caps for sale for $10.00. We also have bottle and can coolies at $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00. Pick up hats and coolies at the next meeting.

Sunshine Child at Mooseheart Regular correspondence is important to the children. Children love to receive mail on their birthdays, on holidays or just a little note letting them know you are thinking about them. Gift cards are also a great idea. We have Wal-mart, Target and Kohl’s just to mention a few. All letters, cards and gifts should be addressed to your Sunshine child at the address below. Please always put what Lodge you are sending it from. This will ensure that gifts are handled properly and will be acknowledged quickly.
