ISRO SETS UP SPACE SITUATIONAL AWARENESS CONTROLCENTRE IN BENGALURU.
Space Situational Awareness & Management (SSAM) has become an internationally significantarea due to the ever growing manmade space debris population and the increased collisionthreat with operational spacecraft. ISRO laid foundation stone for Space Situational AwarenessControl Centre at Peenya, Bengaluru on 2nd August, which is an important milestone in theprogress of ISRO.ISRO has taken special attention to this aspect. ISRO has set up a Directorate of SpaceSituational Awareness and Management aiming at protecting high valued space assets fromspace debris close approaches and collisions. To carryout systematically all activities related toSSAM, a control centre is being established at Bengaluru.Source- ISRO

In a first-of-its-kind initiative in the country, Mohali traffic police have launched 3-D Smart Traffic
Signal devised by the students of Chitkara University Incubated Start-up. The wireless system, called
'Intelights', has been installed at the traffic crossing near Quarkc City on Airport Road, on pilot
project basis, and will regulate traffic signals with a smart bird's eye view wireless sensor system.
The system was launched by Sharad Satya Chauhan, ADGP - Traffic, on August 2, 2019. The system,
which was devised by the students of Chitkara University over three years of intensive research,
was in the test trial phase for the last eight months before its final launch.

IIT GUWAHATI RESEARCHERS DEVELOP PORTABLE DEVICE TODETECT BACTERIA WITHOUT LAB TESTS
Researchers of Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Guwahati have developed hand-held deviceto detect bacteria almost instantaneously. This Research by IIT Guwahati will enable rapiddetection of bacteria, which is important not only in healthcare, but also in anti-bioterrorismmeasures and environmental monitoring applications. Bacterial infection is a common cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide and despitedevelopment of a range of antibiotics, the challenge continues in detecting and diagnosingbacterial infection early on, as present detection techniques tend to be time-consuming. The Virasat-e-Khalsa museum in Punjab’s Anandpur Sahib town is all set to find a place in the Asia
Book of Records for becoming the most visited museum in the Indian sub-continent on a single day.
The Asia Book of Records has confirmed the record of ‘maximum footfall in a museum in a day’ in
the name of Virasat-e-Khalsa, which will feature in the next edition of the Asia Book of Records.
“The museum had witnessed a record footfall of 20,569 visitors on a single day on March 20,
becoming the most visited museum in the Indian sub-continent on a single day,” Vikas Pratap,
Secretary, Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs (Punjab)

Aishwarya Pissay became the first Indian to claim a world title in motorsports, annexing the FIM
World Cup in the women’s category after the final round of the championship in Hungary. The
23-year old from Bengaluru also finished second in the FIM Junior category. Aishwarya, who
won the first round in Dubai and was placed third (Portugal), fifth (Spain) and fourth (Hungary)
in the subsequent outings, finished with a tally of 65 points, just four ahead of Portugal’s Rita
Vieira in the final overall standings for women. She was placed second in the junior category
with 46 points, behind championship winner Tomas de Gavardo (60) of Chile.
