Highlighting the people, places and events in Lake & Sumter counties.
* E xc e e di ng T h e Sta n da r dA B O U T U S
Style magazine is distinctive, sophisticated, and reflects the best of Lake and Sumter counties. We enjoy introducing readers to amazing and extraordinary people who are making a difference in their work or special causes of devotion, and we delight in showcasing local talent—artists, musicians, crafters, and outstanding students—who call this area home.
We also highlight the latest local trends, new medical advances, and where to go
for entertainment and special events. We share the fun outdoor activities
that are enjoyed on our beautiful lakes and the area’s many golf courses, along with all the great
places to dine for an amazing array of foods and drinks.
We listen to our readers by sharing their favorites, too,
everything from their
top picks of places, people, and things in our annual “Hot List” survey, to striving to raise awareness of local issues and plights that should be addressed, such as human trafficking and homelessness. We are devoted to making sure people know the available resources, organizations, and people who provide help to those in need.
Merriam-Webster defines “style” as “a distinctive manner,” and “the state of being popular,” and we at Style magazine take pride in exemplifying our name with passion and panache.
Style magazine covers all of Lake and Sumter counties and The Villages, reaching more than 210,000 audited readers.
We not only set the standard, but we are also committed to continually improving the standard.—KENDRA AKERS, PUBLISHER

John Snyder has worked for Dunstan Plumbing Co. so long he feels like he’s a Dunstan. “I consider myself a fourth-generation owner,” says John, following
in the tradition of William Dunstan Sr., who founded the company in 1922; William Jr., who took the reins in 1951; and junior’s son David, for whom John worked from 1979-1999, when the Dunstans sold the company to John. As plumbing has changed over 95 years, Dunstan has evolved into a modern full-service company with state-of-the-art technology for residential and commercial needs. But the real key to longevity is long-term employees. John has worked with
some Dunstan colleagues for 20, 30, even 40 years, so they’re not just “employees” to him—they’re family members who are as tight as a cinch clamp on a pipe fitting. “You can’t survive in business for 95 years without that,” John says. “They’re family. They’re a group. They’re part of a team.”
John Snyder

We stand by our statement that print is alive and well; however, we have always held the philosophy that Style magazine would be available everywhere the reader is. Therefore, many years ago,
we made the decision to offer downloadable apps for the magazines, and a digital edition that offers special content not found in print editions. Style magazine now has a tremendous following, allowing readers to obtain their content several days prior to the printed edition hitting the streets.
