Skåne’s recreation areas Whether you’re a confirmed nature lover or just looking for relaxation, there’s plenty to choose from. Region Skåne manages 20 forest and recreation areas, where you can fish, canoe, swim and enjoy the beautiful countryside. Seven of these areas provide access for wheelchair users. The newly-opened Fulltofta Nature Reserve in the heart of Skåne is a hub for these recreation areas. This is a modern experience centre where you can learn about the countryside and the impact we have on it. Wander, listen and experience! There are secrets everywhere, which can only be felt by a touch of the hand, seen if you look and heard if you listen out. The exhibition area has expert- written factsheets for those who want to find out more, as well as films about Skåne’s recreation areas. There is also a café offering snacks and light hot meals. When it gets chilly outside, a warming fire will be burning. Outside, many paths lead straight out into the Skåne countryside. The project is run by the Foundation for Recreational Areas in Skåne and Region Skåne. For more information, contact Fulltofta Nature Re- serve on +46 (0)415 512 45 or visit www.strovomraden.se The Skåneleden Trail A hike along the Skåneleden Trail (Skåneleden) really lets you enjoy the incredible variety of countryside and cultural experiences on offer. The trail consists of around 1,000 kilometres of hiking paths. The trail is divided into six sections, each with its own map. Every section is divided into stages of varying length. Each stage has campsites with shelters, a fireplace, firewood, dry toilets and, in most cases, water. If no water is available at the campsite, it can be found along the trail. The trail is marked with orange rings around trees and posts. Where the trail changes direction, signs show which way to go. Hiking along the trail does not require expensive equipment. Wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring a set of waterproofs in case the weather turns bad. Welcome to Skåne’s recreation areas and the Skåneleden Trail! We recommend taking a picnic and a hot drink. Maps for the trail are revised and reprinted every few years. The Coast-to-Coast Trail (Kust till Kustleden), 367 km The Coast-to-Coast Trail is the oldest of the trails. It runs from Sölvesborg in the east to the Bjäre Peninsula in the west. The trail passes through the deep Göinge forests, across traditional areas of small-scale farming and open agricultural countryside, and past views of the sea. The trail is covered by two maps: Kust till Kust Öst (east) and Kust till Kust Väst (west). The Ridge-to-Ridge Trail, 140 km As the name suggests, the Ridge-to-Ridge Trail (Ås till Åsleden) takes you from the Söderåsen Ridge to the Linderödsåsen Ridge, or the other way round. At Söderåsen, the trail takes you through the wild Söderåsen National Park, onwards through the heritage areas of central Skåne and east to the Österlenleden Trail. A map of the trail is available. The North-to-South Trail, 331 km The North-to-South Trail (Nord till Sydleden) runs from the Vittsjö area in northern Skåne down to Ystad, Malmö or Trelleborg. The trail takes walkers on a journey through the deep Göinge forests in the north, across the open plains and finally to the sea in the south. The trail is covered by two maps: Nord till Syd Nord (north) and Nord till Syd Syd (south). The Österlenleden Trail, 165 km The Österlenleden Trail is a circular trail which you can join in places such as Ystad. The trail takes you through cultivated areas, past manors and castles, along idyllic wa- terways and through the wonderful landscape of Österlen, where you walk right alongside the sea. A map of the trail is available. Köp e n - ham n n Köp e n - ham n n Maps can be purchased at the nearest tourist office or ordered via www.skaneleden.se
