HILLSTON SHOW SOCIETY REGULATIONS

1. All exhibits to be in readiness to be judged or paraded as scheduled. 2. All exhibits shall, at the date of entry, be the bona-fide property of exhibitors.

Particulars of age of their respective exhibits also pedigree and breeder’s name, when the same are known, to be given, if unknown this fact is to be stat-ed.

3. Exhibits of flowers must be grown by exhibitor. 4. If called upon by the Committee, exhibitors must make a statutory declaration

that their exhibit or exhibits conform with the conditions under which the prize or prizes for which they compete are offered and the committee may absolutely withhold any payment of any prize unless such declaration shall be made within one month of the date when the exhibitor shall be called upon to make such declaration.

5. Machinery will be allowed to work on the ground during the day of the Show. The President, or any Vice President has the power to stop any machinery at anytime, should it be deemed necessary.

6. Stallions shall be ineligible to compete in open ridden ring events. 7. No person other than Officials or Press Representatives to be allowed in the

Ring with Judges during competition. 8. The signing of the Certificate of Entry of any animal shall be taken as a

guarantee that the animal specified is free from all disease, so far as known to the owner. In the case of infectious disease being spread through or by any exhibit, the exhibitor shall be held responsible.

9. Every care will be taken of exhibits but no responsibility will be accepted by the Hillston Show Society Inc.

10. Awarding of prizes is solely in the hands of the judges, whose decisions shall be final.

11. In all classes where there are less than four (4) entries, the Judge may at his/her discretion award a first prize and/or a second prize, or make no award, dependent upon the Judge’s estimate of the standard or quality of the exhibit.

12. Protest against an award must be lodged, in writing, with the stewards of the section, or at the Secretaries Office, no later than 5.00pm on the day of which the award is made. Every protest must be accompanied with $5o.oo to be forfeited if the protest is deemed frivolous.

13. The Committee reserves the right to at any time postpone the Exhibition or any event there of, in consequence of the inclemency of the weather, or from any sufficient cause, to a date or dates deemed suitable by the Committee, and no entry fees be returnable in the event of such postponement. The reasonable-ness of the cause for postponement shall be decided by the Committee, and their judgement shall be conclusive and not open to question by any exhibitor or other persons affected by such postponement.

14. Any person including an exhibitor/competitor who, inside the show ring in the opinion of the Committee, behaves in an offensive, threatening or insulting manner, uses any threatening, abusive or insulting words to any official of the Society, or Judges in regard to the Society, shall be liable for disqualification.

HILLSTON SHOW SOCIETY - REGULATIONS -

..CONTINUED.. 15. Any person disqualified by the Board of Appeal (Royal Agricultural Association of N.S.W. ) will not be allowed to exhibit or take part at the Show in any capacity whatever. In the event of any entry or exhibitor having been disqualified by any Association, the Committee of this Association shall have the power to decide whether such entry shall be allowed to compete. 16. No responsibility is accepted for any errors and/or omissions in this Schedule. 17. No collectors will be allowed on the ground, except those authorised by the Committee to collect there, and any person infringing this regulation may be removed by any member of the Committee, with or without the assistance of the Police. 18. No exhibits may be removed at any time without the permission of the Chief Steward of the Section.

19. All riders/Competitors must sign indemnity forms, wear indemnity wrist band and must wear ASA approved helmets in all events. (Horses Rings 1, 2, Horse Sporting Ring, Team Penning)

20. Drug Testing Policy– The ASC has formulated Rules for Prohibitive Sub stances and Discipline for Horses. Show office will have a copy of these rules.

PAVILION HOURS

The Pavilion will closed to the public at 5:30pm. Exhibits may only be removed between 5.30pm and 6pm on

the day of the show, and then only with the consent of the Chief Steward of the pavilion.

Ring Announcer: Allan Hutchison Chief Ring Steward: Eunice Stiboy The committee reserves the right to change, add, combine or delete any ring event without notice. Indemnity forms are to be signed before competitors are permitted to compete in all horse events. Armband must be shown to stewards when entering events. In all ring events the exhibitors may be required to make a statutory declaration to the effect their entry is eligible for the class concerned, if it is subject to a dispute.

In registered breed events entrants will be asked for registration papers and current membership. NOVICE - Not having won an event at any Agricultural Show in that class.

Attendants in Led Classes MUST BE SUITABLY ATTIRED.

WOOL ARTICLE/GARMENT STATE

COMPETITION Competition to be Conducted at Society, Group and State Level

CLASS: THREE DIFFERENT TYPES OF WOOL

ARTICLE AND/OR GARMENTS CONDITIONS: 1. For the purpose of this competition the following definitions apply:

a) Garment: an item that can be worn e.g. dress, jacket, scar f, hat b) Article: a utility item that is not worn but can be used in the home e.g.

blanket; with an outfit ego bag; for amusement ego toy; as a decoration ego picture etc.

2. The whole article and/or garment must be constructed of, and contain a minimum of, 80% wool.

3. Exhibits (articles/garments) may be knitted, crocheted, sewn, felted etc and must be hand crafted (use of sewing machine is permitted). 4. A sample of the yarn, fabric or fibre with label must be attached to each item making up the exhibit. If a label is not available (as in a handspun/felted item) a handwritten label with relevant details and sample will suffice. 5. An exhibit in this competition may consist of the work of one individual or a group of individuals, or an organisation. 6. All three article/garments must have been completed within the 12 months prior to the local show and made by the exhibitor/s. 7. An exhibit having won at a local show may be exhibited (the same three article/garments) at the Group Final. The winning exhibit at the Group Final is then eligible to compete in the State Final.

8. An exhibitor is only eligible to represent one Society at Group level and one Group at State level.

9. An exhibit (article/garment) that has previously competed at Group level is not eligible to compete again. 10. If this class is not scheduled or attracts no entries at a local show, the Show Secretary (or delegate) may select three suitable individual exhibits and, with the exhibitors permission, enter them in the Group judging as an exhibit representing the particular Society concerned. 11. It is the responsibility of the Group Secretary and winner to co-ordinate the transfer of the winning entry to Sydney for the State judging.

A.S.C RICH FRUIT CAKE COMPETITION

REGULATIONS 1. An exhibitor having won at a show, will bake another cake for entry in the Group Final; the winner

will then be required to bake a further cake for State Final at the next Royal Sydney Show. 2. An exhibitor having won at Show Level is not eligible to enter any other Show until after the

Group Judging, when, if not the winning entry, can compete further. 3. An exhibitor is only eligible to represent one group in the State Final. 4. An exhibitor having won at Group Level cannot compete further until after the Royal Sydney

Show. 5. Each cake entered must be the bona-fide work of the exhibitor. 6. If for any reason a winner is unable to compete at Group or State level then the second placeget-

ter is eligible to compete.

RECIPE FOR THE SUNBEAM FRUIT CAKE COMPETITION

INGREDIENTS: 250g (8oz) Sultanas 250g (8oz) Chopped Raisins 250g (8oz) Currants 125g (4oz) Chopped Mixed Peel 90g (3oz) Chopped Red Glazed Cherries 90g (3oz) Chopped Blanched Almonds 1/3 Cup Sherry or Brandy 250g (8oz) Plain Flour 60g (2oz) Self Raising Flour ¼ teaspoon Grated Nutmeg ½ teaspoon Ground Ginger ½ teaspoon Ground Cloves 250g (8oz) Butter 250g (8oz) Soft Brown Sugar ½ teaspoon Lemon Essence of Finely Grated Lemon Rind ½ teaspoon Vanilla Essence ½ teaspoon Almond Essence 4 Large Eggs METHOD: Mix together all the fruit and nuts and sprinkle with sherry or brandy. Cover and leave for at least one hour, but preferably overnight. Sift together flours and spices, cream together the butter and sugar with the essences and one egg at a time, beating well after each addition then add the fruit and the flour mixtures. Mix thoroughly. The

mixture should be stiff enough to support a wooden spoon. Place the mixture into a prepared tin no larger than 19-20 cm and bake in a slow oven for approximately

3 1/2 - 4 hours. Allow cake to cool in the tin. NOTE: To ensure uniformity and depending on size it is suggested the raisins

be snipped into 2 or 3 pieces and almonds crosswise into 3 or 4 pieces.

sections of the Pavilion. Juniors can enter in the open sections. The points award-

ed are only added from the Open section for the most Successful Open Pavilion

Exhibitor.

The Most Successful Open Pavilion Exhibitor will be presented with a trophy valued at $100.

The Most Successful Junior (17yrs and under) Pavilion Exhibitor will be presented with

a trophy valued at $50 The Junior points are added from all the Pavilion Section.
