TARA ABBEY—REPAIRS BEGIN!The Tzu Chi Foundation Malaysia, is a non-government Buddhist organization based in Taiwan that provides global disaster relief among many other charity missions. They have been very active in Nepal since the earthquakes, and after serious assessment, Tzu Chi offered to be the benefactor for the restoration of Tara Abbey. There is no wait period for government approval because the foundation will be giving the funds directly to the construction company—Miyamoto International Nepal. Miyamoto will be responsible for the design, consultation, and supervision of construction for the temple and repair of the dorms. Construction is estimated to begin within two months. On April 20th, Tzu Chi and Miyamoto representatives met with Thrangu Rinpoche and Monastery staff to sign a memorandum of understanding for the repair and retrofit.
