A. WORK SHALL BE IN CONFORMANCE WITH CURRENT BUILDING CODES, THE AMERICANDISABILITIES ACT, INDUSTRY STANDARDS, AND OTHER APPLICABLE REGULATIONS.

B. DRAWINGS ARE DIAGRAMMATIC ONLY. DO NOT SCALE. FIELD VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONSAND NOTIFY ARCHITECT WITH ANY DISCREPANCIES PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION,FABRICATION, OR ORDERING OF MATERIALS.

C. PROTECT ALL ORIGINAL/HISTORIC FINISHES TO REMAIN FROM DAMAGE DURINGCONSTRUCTION. E. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING AND/OR REPLACING MATERIALSDAMAGED BY WATER INTRUSION DUE TO THEIR NEGLECT.

F. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DISPOSAL OF ALL DEMOLISHED MATERIALS.

G. RETAIN AND PROTECT ALL EXISTING LOAD-BEARING WALLS, COLUMNS, PIERS, BEAMS,JOISTS, ETC.

H. PROVIDE TEMPORARY SHORING AS REQUIRED WHERE ITEMS ARE TO BE REMOVED.

I. REFER TO DRAWINGS, SPECIFICATIONS, SCHEDULES, DEMOLITION AND RESTORATIONNOTES AND STRUCTURAL, ELECTRICAL, AND MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS FORDESCRIPTIONS OF WORK.

J. DEMOLISH ALL ELECTRICAL, MECHANICAL, AND PLUMBING IN AREAS COVERED BY THISCONTRACT. REMOVE PIPING TO A DEPTH OF 3/4" BELOW THE SURFACE. SEAL ENDS OFALL ABANDONED PIPES AND CONDUIT. COORDINATE THE EXTENTS OF THIS WORK WITHTHE MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, AND PLUMBING DRAWINGS. PATCH AREAS AFFECTEDBY DEMOLITION TO MATCH ORIGINAL OR ADJACENT WALL FINISHES.

K. EXISTING UTILITIES NOT SCHEDULED FOR REMOVAL SHALL REMAIN INTACT AND MUST BEPROTECTED. CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY ALL EXISTING UTILITIES.

L. COORDINATE EXACT LOCATIONS AND DIMENSIONS OF NEW DOOR OPENINGS WITH THEFLOOR PLAN AND CARPENTRY REQUIREMENTS.

M. PROTECT EXISTING TRIMS FROM DAMAGE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DOORCASINGS, BASEBOARDS, WOOD BLOCKS, CHAIR RAIL, BEAM CASING, PICTURE RAIL ANDHANDRAILS.

N. SALVAGE AND CATALOG ORIGINAL ELEMENTS DESIGNATED FOR REMOVAL, INCLUDINGDOORS, WINDOWS, TRIMS & CASEWORK FOR REINSTALLATION AND PATCHING.

O. PROTECT EXTERIOR BUILDING ELEMENTS FROM DAMAGE DURING CONSTRUCTION,INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO LIMESTONE DETAILS, CAST STONE DETAILS, TERRACOTTADETAILS, BRICK MASONRY, SITE DETAILS, WINDOWS AND DOORS.

P. PROTECT EXTERIOR BUILDING ELEMENTS AND LANDSCAPING FROM DAMAGE DURINGCONSTRUCTION.

Q. PROTECT EXISTING BUILDING PLAQUES FROM DAMAGE. COVER WITH PLYWOOD FORPROTECTION THROUGHOUT CONSTRUCTION.

R. MAINTAIN BUILDING SECURITY THROUGHOUT PROJECT.

H. PROTECT FROM DAMAGE ALL EXISTING WORK, FEATURES, AND ELEMENTS TO REMAIN. DO NOT REMOVE, CUT, MODIFY, OR OTHERWISEDAMAGE ANY HISTORIC MATERIAL OR ELEMENT WITHOUT OBTAINING PRIOR APPROVAL FROM THE ARCHITECT, UNLESS OTHERWISEINDICATED.

I. INSPECT ALL SUBSTRATES, GUTTERS, FRAMING OR ANY OTHER ELEMENTS HIDDEN FROM VIEW. NOTIFY ARCHITECT OF ANY UNFORESEENDETERIORATED OR DAMAGED AREAS PRIOR TO PROCEEDING WITH WORK.

J. HISTORIC ELEMENTS TO BE REMOVED ARE TO BE REMOVED INTACT. REUSE THESE ITEMS TO REPLACE SEVERELY DAMAGED OR DETERIORATEDELEMENTS OF THE SAME CONFIGURATION AND MATERIAL.

K. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR NOTIFYING THE BUILDING OCCUPANTS PRIOR TO ANY INTERRUPTIONS WITH UTILITIES.

L. REPAIR TO MATCH ORIGINAL OR ADJACENT ALL AREAS AFFECTED BY THE REMOVAL OF FOREIGN/OBSOLETE ELEMENTS FROM THE BUILDINGINCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO CONDUIT, UTILITY CONNECTIONS, SIGNAGE, RAILINGS, AND OTHER SIMILAR ATTACHMENTS.

M. PREPARE AND PAINT ALL ITEMS ORIGINALLY PAINTED IN AREAS OF WORK (UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED). REPAIR OR REPLACE DAMAGED ORDETERIORATED ITEMS. IF UNSURE OR QUESTIONABLE, CONTACT ARCHITECT PRIOR TO PROCEEDING WITH WORK. PAINT UNDERNEATH ALLHARDWARE.

N. BACK PAINT ALL EXTERIOR TRIM BEFORE INSTALLATION. ALL WOOD IN CONTACT WITH CONCRETE SHOULD BE PRESSURE TREATED LUMBER.

O. HEAT DEVICES SUCH AS HEAT GUNS, CUTTING & WELDING TORCHES, SOLDERING IRONS, AND OTHER SIMILAR DEVICES IS PROHIBITED DUE TOTHE HIGH RISK OF FIRE IN AN HISTORIC STRUCTURE.

P. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT THE SITE FROM DAMAGE AND SHALL BE REQUIRED TO RE-GRADE AND SOD DAMAGED AREAS. PROTECT ALLSURROUNDING TREES TO REMAIN WITH FENCING AT DRIP LINE.

Q. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN SECURITY OF THE BUILDING AT ALL TIMES. MAINTAIN ENTRANCE TO THE BUILDING DURING THE WORK OF THISCONTRACT. PROTECT TENANTS, PEDESTRIANS AND PUBLIC FROM ANY HARM.

R. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE BLOCKING FOR ALL WALL MOUNTED ITEMS INDICATED IN DRAWINGS WHETHER ITEMS ARE INCLUDED IN THECONTRACT OR NOT. COORDINATE REQUIREMENTS/LOCATIONS WITH ARCHITECT.

S. THE INTENT IS TO RESTORE ALL AREAS OF WORK TO A FINISHED BUILDING, THEREFORE EVEN IF ANY DETAILS ARE OMITTED OR NOT APPLICABLETO A SPECIFIC CONDITION OR LOCATION, THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY REMAINS TO SUPPLY ALL COMPONENTS BY IMPLICATION.SHOULD A SPECIFIC CONDITION NOT BE REFLECTED BY A TYPICAL DETAIL, DRAWING, OR SPECIFICATION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONSULTWITH THE ARCHITECT PRIOR TO PROCEEDING WITH SUCH ITEM OF WORK.

T. WELL MAINTAINED CONDITION: ITEMS INDICATED TO BE RETURNED TO A WELL MAINTAINED CONDITION SHALL BE REPAIRED TO A FULLYFUNCTIONING CONDITION, WITH REPLACEMENT OF ANY DAMAGED OR DETERIORATED MATERIALS OR COMPONENTS THAT INTERFERE WITHTHE FUNCTION OF THE ITEM BEING RESTORED - OR ELEMENTS THAT SHOW VISUAL SIGNS OF A LACK OF MAINTENANCE. ITEMS ARE TO APPEARAS THOUGH THEY HAVE BEEN WELL MAINTAINED OVER THEIR LIFE, SHOWING MINOR IMPERFECTIONS, SCARS AND OTHER SIGNS OF WEARTHAT DO NOT INTERFERE WITH THE FUNCTION OF THE ITEM.

U. PLANT PROTECTION: NO PLANTS SHALL BE REMOVED WITHOUT THE ARCHITECTS APPROVAL. THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR IS TO CLEARLYMARK ALL PLANTS THAT ARE TO BE REMOVED OR PROTECTED AND NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT FOR APPROVAL BEFORE REMOVAL BEGINS.
