    1.2 Overview of HiPath 3000/HiPath 5000 V4.0

HiPath 3000/HiPath 5000 V4.0 is the joint successor version of the two product lines HiPath3000 and HiPath 5000 in version 3.0.

The systems included in V4.0 can be used in the following cases:

HiPath 3000,whose communication systems can be used as standalone systems or as networked sys-tems, see Figure 1-1). Central administration of networks consisting of HiPath 3000 sys-tems is not possible.

HiPath 5000,consists of a central administration unit (Real-Time Services Manager RSM) and a gate-way (HiPath 3000). A "Single System Image" can be created via IP networking of HiPath5000 with HiPath 3000 systems, which can be centrally administered via the Real-Time

Services Manager RSM (= multi node system, see Figure 1-2).

    Overview of HiPath 3000/HiPath 5000 V4.0

The main advantages of HiPath 3000/HiPath 5000 V4.0 are

IP-networked HiPath 3000 and HiPath 5000 systems can create a "Single System Image"which can be centrally administered via a shared server (= Real-Time Services Manager

RSM) and supports the use of central applications.

The range of functions of HiPath 5000 are greatly enhanced by the IP networking protocolIP CorNet-N.

HiPath 5000, in combination with HiPath 3000 systems, can form a network of 2000 sta-tions in which up to 64 systems can be networked with each other. A HiPath 3000 nodecan support a maximum of 500 stations in this case.

By combining HiPath 3000 and HiPath 5000 systems, all the advantages of the IP worldcan be used without having to forego the advantages and interfaces of traditional commu-nication systems.

1.2.1 HiPath 3000/5000 in the LAN

IP Payload Switching (see Section 4.7 on page 4-22)

IP payload switching optimizes communication between LAN-based IP workpoint clients.

In the past, two B-channels (with two DSP resources) in the HiPath HG 1500 and HiPath 3000/5000-internal switching network were seized for internal network calls.

In HiPath 3000/5000 V3.0 and later, VoIP voice data (payload) is transferred directly between

two IP workpoint clients in the network. When this happens, both IP workpoint clients have fullaccess to all system features.

Payload switching is also implemented for IP networking (PBX routing).

By ceasing to use B-channels, we have managed to preserve HiPath HG 1500 resources andfacilitate a higher volume of network-internal call traffic.

    Multi-SLC (HiPath 3750, HiPath 3700) and cross-system networking (HiPath 3750, HiPath

3550, HiPath 3350, HiPath 3700, HiPath 3500, HiPath 3300)Up to four SLC16 or SLC16N boards (multi-SLC16) can be integrated in V1.0 or later of HiPath3750 or HiPath 3700. The SLC16/SLC16N board hops are synchronized for full cordless mo-bility (roaming and seamless connection handover) within the system.

The system treats every handset (mobile station) as a corded device. Every handset is as-signed to a fixed port on the "home SLC16/SLC16N board" in the course of administration. Thisport is used for handset addressing.

As soon as a handset enters the range of another mobile switching center ("visitor SLC16/SLC16N board"), an extended connection is switched by a DSS1 connection initiated by the

SLC16/SLC16N. The home and visitor SLC16/SLC16N boards use this extended connectionto exchange a networking protocol (User-To-User-Signaling UUS) to support full mobility (seeFigure 1-3).

This function can be used not only within a system, but also across systems (and nodes) be-cause the CorNet N protocol used for networking supports the UUS protocol (note: you mayneed additional B-channels on the fixed connection paths (CorNet N) for the cross-system ex-tended connections (see Section 1.4)). Full mobility is guaranteed across the various cordlesssystem hops. All handset features (callback, team functions, voicemail, etc.) remain intact. Thenetwork-wide handover feature is only exception here as it is not currently supported.

Planning HiPath 3000 System Networks with Network-Wide Roaming

1.4 Planning HiPath 3000 System Networks with Network-WideRoaming

You may need additional B-channels for the fixed connection paths (CorNet N) for cross-system

    extended connections (see service manual).

If using the "network-wide roaming" feature, you must make sure that different systems withidentical DECT IDs do not have overlapping radio ranges. Handsets treat networked systemswith identical DECT IDs as a single system.

When hops overlap in systems with identical DECT IDs, handsets start to perform unintentionalnetwork-wide handover attempts which result in call cleardown.

If you have to network systems with overlapping hops (for example, to increase capacity limitsor for decentralized installation), you must configure different DECT IDs in the individual sys-tems. Thenetwork-wide roaming feature is not supported in this case.

The following diagrams show three different showing HiPath 3000 system networking scenari-os.

Scenario 1: Incorrect DECT configuration of networked HiPath 3000 systems

Identical DECT IDs and overlapping hops lead to incorrecthandover which in turn causes call cleardown.
