The Brahmas and LadyBrahmas have worked hard this summer inpreparation for the upcoming fall sports offeredat Hallettsville ISD. Hallettsville can boast ofaveraging over 70 athletes per day participatingin the summer workout program. Thisincluded male and female athletes from grades7-12. The main reason for this type ofcommitment is the pursuit of championshipsthrough strength, speed, agility, and safety forthe upcoming semester. This is an ongoing
process that will be carried out throughout the2012-2013 school year during the athleticperiods that the athletes are currently enrolledin on a daily basis.
Our fall sports venue includes football, volleyball, and cross-country. There will beapproximately 124 high school athletesinvolved in these three sports. This creates a
very competitive atmosphereand speaks volumes about the importance ofathletics in the total education process offeredhere at Hallettsville ISD. This is even moreimpressive when we consider that many of ourathletes value high academic standards asindicated by their grades. It is also appropriateto recognize that many of our athletesparticipate in numerous other extra-curricularactivities offered in our school district.
As our athletes pursue championships, we areproud of how they represent our communityand school district. We sincerely thank themany supporters of the Brahmas and LadyBrahmas as we fight toward keeping this a topnotch program.

Hallettsville High School teachers and staffeagerly welcomed back our students for the2012-13 school year. The high school studentsand teachers enjoyed a successful school year in
2011-12. The FFA/Ag program did well atcontests and at the stock shows in which theyparticipated. Once again the Brahma band has
begun its preparation for another award-winningyear. This year the band is under newleadership, directed by Mr. John Turner.
In athletics, HHS was represented in post-seasoncompetition by numerous teams. Volleyball,
basketball, track, baseball, softball, golf andfootball all had playoff teams. Along with ourUIL athletic teams, our UIL academic teams
had multiple post-season qualifiers. Severalteams and individuals advanced to regionals andstate competition.
In addition to the extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, the faculty and students ofHHS have made great strides in the classroom. The transition from TAKS to STAAR/EOC has
been a monumental and ongoing endeavor. Many hours of professional development, training, practice, and review by teachers andstudents have had positive results.
The work ethic and concern of our students andteachers is unquestionable and will continue toguide us to another successful school year in2012-2013.

As we continue the 2012-13 schoolyear, we are excited about our focuson Continuous School, Student, andSelf Improvement. The department of
Curriculum and Instruction willconcentrate on providing teacherswith the proper tools, resources, andtraining necessary to improve in allthree areas.
We started the 2012-2013 school yearwith professional development thatfocused on CSCOPE and the State ofTexas Assessments of AcademicReadiness (STAAR). CSCOPEincludes quality instructional
documents that are aligned with theTEKS and the STAAR. Teachers willcontinue to participate in trainingfocused on enhancing our curriculumand preparing our students for theSTAAR.
We will also meet as departments acrossgrade levels to meet the needs of all ourstudents and prepare them for success atHISD and beyond. Another goal is to
focus on data to drive instruction andinterventions with our students whoneed it most. The new STAAR testentailed much more rigorous items thanTexas students have been tested on inthe past; therefore, we will need toprepare our students not only for thetest, but also for college and careers
beyond HISD.
As we pursue our goals for this year, wewill continue to provide quality
professional development for all facultyand staff.
