HISPANIC DAY, 12th of October

• Christopher Columbus was born in 1451 in ¿Genoa?1451 - Valladolid, 20th of May in 1506 . His parents were Domenico Colombo and Susana Fontanarrosa. He was a sailar and he wanted to reach India by another way.

• During many years, he was asking for the money. The Catholic Monarchs Isabel and Ferdinand financed Columbus travels. When he got the enough money, he started this important voyage.

THE DISCOVERY

•He reached land on the 12th of October.

•He made four voyages.His first expedition departed on the 3rd of August in 1492.

The 12th of October is a very important Festivity in Spain.

During the dictatorship on this day, it was celebrated “THE THE HISPANIC DAY”. HISPANIC DAY”. Later it was Later it was called “THE COLORCAST called “THE COLORCAST DAY”DAY”

It’s a National Day. It’s “The Civil Guard Day”, A popular military parade l takes palce on the 12th of October, featuring attendance by government and the royal family.

It’s the most important day in ZARAGOZA, a Spanish city in the Northeast of Spain. “THE VIRGIN OF PILAR DAY” Zaragoza’s Cathedral is called

“EL PILAR”

• From 1978 (when our Constitution was voted for spanish people), we celebrate our

• In Spain, each Community celebrates its ”Community Day”

• The 28th of February is our Community Day.

We celebrate Andalusian Day with our students in different ways:

Because it commemorates the referendum of the '80 years, when we have full autonomy to the region of Andalusia. We have an Andalusian Constitution.

And men wear black trousers, whith a white shirt and black hat.
