Women don’t always have the same classic heart attack symptoms as men. Many women may have a feeling that “something isn’t right.” Karen didn’t think she was having a heart attack because she just felt “tired and irritable.” But when she started having pains in her arm and back, thankfully she called 911. The Redmond team was able to resuscitate Karen and provide her with a cardiac stent. Karen says she would not have survived without the emergency heart team at Redmond. She tells everyone to “go immediately” when they have heart symptoms.

Redmond Regional Medical Center, “the heart hospital,” has a rich history of cardiac services dating back more than four decades. Dr. Ray Young, cardiologist with the Harbin Clinic, began the cardiac program in 1972, and Dr. Scott MacLeod joined him two years later. The two designed and built the first Cardiac Catheterization Lab in Rome. With the arrival in 1986 of cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Daniel Goldfaden, Redmond expanded services to add coronary intervention and cardiothoracic surgery. Redmond is the only full-service heart hospital in North West Georgia.
Redmond is proud to present An Evening on the Runway at the Historic DeSoto Theatre, using this stage in the heart of Rome, to promote heart health and heart disease awareness. Redmond is committed to its rich cardiac history as it continues to fight heart disease in Floyd County and North West Georgia during the Heart Month of February, and beyond.

SECURING THE FUTURE OF OUR HISTORY
This evening’s proceeds will benefit the Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 2008 to secure the future of the iconic 1929 theatre in downtown Rome.
In early 1928, O. C. Lam, owner of Lam Amusement Company, laid plans
to construct a new movie theater in Rome, Georgia, modeled after New York’s Roxy. It was the first venue in the South designed and built as a “talkie” for sound films.
When the DeSoto opened in August 1929, it was one of the seven largest movie venues in Georgia. It was an instant success and the pride of Rome. The Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation mantains and preserves this legacy for future generations.
