• Inside a baseball you will see the core, yarn, and stitches.
• The red and black substance is rubber.
How it’s MadeFirst they start out with a small cork.
Then they pour a latex adhesive into a drum.
Next they loop ply wool around the cork.
After that they put another layer of wool on.
Then they put a 3rd layer on.
Last they put a wool on that is much lighter.
It takes a week to make a MLB baseball!
“The Mud”• The Major League
uses the mud from a lake to make the baseballs less slick.
• They do this because a hitter was killed by a wild pitch.
• They started using it in 1938.
• Only the Major League knows where they get the mud from.
How many stitches are there?
• There are 108 stitches in a modern baseball.
• For the last stitch they go through the middle of the baseball and cut the string.
The Farthest Hit
• The farthest hit in the MLB is 634 ft.
• Mickey Mantle was the player who hit the baseball.
The Fastest Throw
• The fastest throw was 107.9 mph.
• The throw was a pitch by Bob Feller in Griffith Stadium (Texas Rangers Ballpark).
• He was born in Van Meter, Iowa.
President’s Pitch
• For 100 years president’s have been throwing the first pitch for the Washington D.C. team.
• This year Barack Obama threw the first pitch on April 5 for the Washington Nationals.
• William Howard Taft threw the first pitch 100 years ago.
• It’s a tradition for every president to threw the first pitch.

• Mark McGwire’s 70th home run was sold for $3,005,000!!!
• The baseball was hit on September 27, 1998 for a record of the most home runs in a season.
• That record was broken by Barry Bonds in 2001.

• It’s graded 9.5 out of 10!!!
• The cost of the baseball is $150,000!!!
