    Defense has banned smok g n a number of places on military bases.The services are expected to follow DoD struction 6015.18 w thregulations. The new policy bans tobacco smoking in auditoriums,elevators, shuttle vehicles, con

    ference Rooms and classrooms, Itl m ts smoking in work areas, and n d g and medical facilities.Defense wants ashtrays removed rom auditoriums and signs postedadvising members of the no-smok ng policy. shtrays are to be placedoutside auditoriums to enable smoker to dispose of cigarettes andcigars and to empty pip s, before enterin the facilities, Ineating places, Defense wants no-srnoking areas set up wherever practical.This can be worked out n agreements between military officials andconcess onaires, DoD said. No-smoking areas should be establishedbased on estim tes of the nu ber of smokers and non- mokers served in aparticular d ning facility .
