Dear Columbian,

Have you ever stood in some timeless exotic place and wondered…What was this like hundreds of years ago? What were the thoughts of long-ago travelers as they passed through Angkor Wat and gazed at a sunset or breathed the richness of the Himalayan air? During this 22-day journey by private jet, your days will be filled with such questions. Were the feet that trod this cobbled path in Butrint clad in Roman sandals? Did the monks who first worshipped on this Nepalese mountain look out and envision a wider world? What occupied the ancient trader’s mind as his caravan approached Petra’s imposing Treasury? Can you still hear the bustle of Tamerlane’s marketplace in Samarqand? Will you be drawn to the 2,000 images of Buddha in Vientiane? We invite you to join Professor Leigh Linden of Columbia University’s Department of Economics and SIPA, its renowned School of International and Public Affairs, fellow alumni, family and friends for History’s Lost Cities, a remarkable October 2009 journey that will take you into worlds filled with echoes of the ancient past. Experience more of the world than is possible by any other means in the good company of like-minded travelers from Brown University, Emory University and the Harvard Museum of Natural History. We urge you to call soon as space is quite limited on this extraordinary program. Call 1-866-325-8664.

Sincerely,

The hidden city of Petra. India’s

fabled “Land of the Kings.” The

jungle temples of Angkor. Ancient

cities of Laos. The last kingdom

of the Himalayas. The mythical

city of Kathmandu. Battlegrounds

of Genghis Khan and Tamerlane.

The ancient ruins of Butrint. They

link together a compelling chain of

human history.

They were crossroads of trade,

bustling with lively markets, the

murmurs of travelers, the energy

of commerce. They were quiet

sanctuaries, safeguarded from

intruders.

And now they are yours.

We will cross miles and span centuries for a

voyage into your own understanding — past,

present, and future.

Linked together by mystery, connected

exclusively by private jet, History’s Lost Cities

A treasured trademark of our journeys by private

jet is the concept of Surprise and Delight.

While our brilliant expedition staff members,

behind the scenes and on the jet, are carefully

orchestrating every detail of your extraordinary

journey, they’re also plotting behind your back.

As spectacular as the scheduled events and

experiences of your expedition already are, our

goal is to make them even better. We call these the

Surprise and Delight moments — and your private

jet expedition is studded with them.

They’re not listed in your brochure. They aren’t

mentioned in your trip documents.

They’re not on the schedule. And you will never

know when they’re coming. But be confident that

they are coming.

Without giving away too much, we can tell you

. . . we’ve produced baby elephants on command.

We’ve delivered brilliant dance performances in

the middle of public squares. We’ve transformed a

simple rest stop into a feast of homemade pastries

beside bubbling springs in a forest glen.

We take special pride in our ability to take your

breath away. In fact, we’re a little bit smug about

it. So come along and let us surprise you. Let us

delight you.
