HITACHI APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM CONTINUOUS TRAINING & EDUCATION Overview of the Hitachi Apprenticeship Program Learning takes place everyday and here at Hitachi, we understand that each person absorbs and constructs new ideas, behaviours and beliefs in a wide variety of different methods and styles. Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia (HCA) developed this Apprenticeship Program to provide a structured training program that enables people to gain real life work experience and earn a qualification at the same time. An Apprenticeship is a powerful opportunity for people to learn the skills of a trade through a combination of learning on the job, with hands-on experience alongside the employer, partnered with formal learning accredited by TAFE. Our Apprenticeship Program spans over 4 years and accredits you with Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology – AUR31216. This Apprenticeship is also a four year contract of employment. At the end of the program, you’ll be well equipped, qualified, and have all the right tools in your toolbox to go through the application process for any available trades position within HCA.

Eligibility Requirements• Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident

• Completed Year 10 of Secondary Education or equivalent and be at least 16 years of age by the program’s start date.

• Willing to complete a pre-employment medical

Course Details & Learning OutcomesAs a Mobile Plant apprentice, you will be involved and engaged in all the mechanical, electrical and technical elements of HCA’s wide range of construction equipment. We will equip you with the skills and knowledge to efficiently and effectively diagnose, service and repair heavy industrial machinery - hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders, rigid and articulated dump trucks, backhoes and skid steers to name a few! Our promise of delivering reliable solutions puts safety at the forefront of everything we do. In this Apprenticeship, you’ll see firsthand how this commitment to safety is prioritised and embedded from initial commissioning, into regular servicing and maintenance, through to overhaul and the end of the service life.

How to ApplyYou can Apply Online directly via the HCA Careers Page or relevant job boards. Our recruitment team will review all resumes and will contact shortlisted applicants to complete an initial phone or video interview. If successful, applicants will be invited for a face-to-face interview at the nearest branch. An online assessment and a pre employment medical will be required for selected candidates.

I chose HCA for three main reasons; reputation for good work, safe and supportive workplace and their commitment to providing further training and education for all employees.

What do you enjoy most about being a HCA Apprentice?

For me the most enjoyable thing about being a HCA Apprentice is the opportunities the company has to offer and provides. I love that HCA go to the extra effort to send their apprentices away to gain required experience and training with other apprentices across the country.

What advice can you give to HCA Apprentice hopefuls?

Work hard, provide a good attitude and show the company that you are interested and willing to learn.

Why did you choose the HCA Apprenticeship Program?

I was encouraged to apply to the apprenticeship program through my trade school teacher. The benefits that Hitachi offer allow you to get a good start to your apprenticeship and allows for an easy transfer into a new career.

What do you enjoy most about being a HCA Apprentice?

The best part of being a HCA apprentice is the people I work with. The people within the company aren’t just colleagues they’re people you can rely on no matter the circumstances.
