Management Module Release Notes The following is a listing of the relevant fixes or new features that were implemented in the noted levels of firmware.

Version A0250/00 1. New Features and Functions

1-1. Management Module firmware - Supported CB520X x2 server blade. 1-2. Equipment parameter - Added the parameters of CB520XB2 server blade.

2. Improvements 2-1. SEL dictionary - Revised some HVM SEL and BMC SEL. - Revised the comments of SEL used for engineer’s debugging. “MRC Error Information” -> “RC Information“(*) “QPI RC Error Information” -> “RC Information (QPI)” *… The comment related memory error will not be revised.

3. Bug Fixes The following problems are fixed. - Next boot version of server blade firmware is not displayed correctly. - Management module wrongly recognizes power supply status of server blade. - Smart configure does not finish. - Cannot open and manage the Hosts in HCSM with the error message. - Both management modules failed when setting IPv6 address or IPv6 default gateway address that is not appropriate. See Appendix A for bug fixes.

2. Bug Fixes The following problems are fixed.

- The management module firmware doesn't notify SNMP manager and Hi-TRACK of the second internal HDD correctly.

Hitachi Compute Blade 500 Available Firmware & Release Note Reference - The user who has privilege of switch module 1, 2 or 3 and does not have privilege of switch module 0 cannot execute CLI commands of switch modules. - The user who has privilege of switch module 0 can execute CLI commands of switch modules 1, 2 or 3, even if without the privilege of switch module 1, 2 or 3. - Optional Physical Mac data of onboard LAN on Non-primary blades is set illegal data if Optional Physical MAC data is set to 520XB blades that are enabled onboard LAN and are installed 8 Port Mezzanine card of the SMP configuration from Web console. - Both management modules failed when setting an IPv6 default gateway address that is not able to route. See Appendix A for bug fixes.

Version A0241/00 1. Bug Fixes

The following problem is fixed. - Web console, HCSM, and Hi-track becomes unusable, if Internet Explorer screen is closed while Web console and Management module are communicating.

- HVM Web Console cannot display any 'English' indication when the "manager#0" is not set in JP1/ServerConductor/Blade Server Manager. - Wrongly detect a "Redundancy lost of Power supply module" when modify the power capping setting. - Rejected modify boot order setting from HVM Web console when Lpar status is active. - “Switch module: The Equipment Parameter for a proper switch module does not exist.” SEL is displayed.


The following problems are fixed. - A blade was unexpectedly shutdown when a transient outage happened. - N+M cold standby failed occurred when Hitachi 8Gb FC mezzanine card installed on CB520A or CB520H or CB540A server blade. - Warning/Caution SEL of CPU/RDIMM Overtemp is displayed.

Management Module firmware - Supported N+M cold standby for 4-blade SMP on CB520X server blade. - Supported full-slot(8 slots) server blade running with maximum CPU/DIMM/Mezz/HDD configuration by enabling power-capping(APC) automatically. - Supported an onboard LAN(CNA) of CB520X B1 blade. The newly supported functions for the onboard LAN(CNA) are as follows.

-- Configuring and displaying Optional Physical WWN/MAC of the onboard LAN(CNA) by Web console. -- Displaying Default Physical WWN/MAC and current ones of the onboard LAN(CNA) by Web console. -- Displaying the history of the CNA firmware version of the onboard LAN(CNA) by Web console.

The OpenSSL Vulnerability (CVE-2014-0160; Heartbleed) could expose sensitive metadata through incorrect memory handling in the TLS heartbeat extension.

Version A0180/00 1. Improvements

Enable a restoring CNA settings to user. (Previous Version from A0160 to A0175 is Available only in maintenance personnel privilege.)

2. Bug Fixes (1) An unexpected value is set as the default gateway for logical partitioning manager. (2) Duplication of the IP address for logical partitioning manager causes duplication of virtual WWN. (3) When HBA configuration information restoration is performed twice in the state of server power off, The 2nd time is rejected. (4) Emergency Power Control(EPC) is not canceled when FAN failure recovered.

Activating the remote console on Web console may fail with an application error of Java, but it can be recovered by reattempt. When all of the following conditions are met, this problem may occur

(1) Management console PC uses Windows Server 2008 Enterprise x86 SP1 and Internet Explorer 7. (2) Management Module firmware pack version is A0170/00. (3) http communication protocol is used for connecting remote console via Web console.

2. Improvements At the previous firmware version, when the LAN controller LSI in the module gets Chip-level soft-error (*1), the firmware reboots the LAN switch module to recover itself. During the rebooting, all the operating systems on the blades lose the link to the switch module and lost the connection of Ethernet. The new firmware improves the recovery process. When it gets the error, the firmware rewrites only the memory area where the error occurs and recovers the data without rebooting the switch module. Therefore, the operating systems do not lose the connection of Ethernet. (*1) These errors occur when the radioactive atoms in the chip's material decay and release alpha particles into the chip. It does not damage the hardware but corrupts the data.

2. Bug Fixes (1) The problem of the virtual NIC process continuing using the physical CPU dedicated to LPAR even if LPAR requires of CPU. When virtual NIC load is high, the following system event logs may be taken. "Logical CPU slowdown due to too many logical CPUs." (2) Management module's internal status may become incorrect, when communication failure occurs between the management module and the LPAR manager while an LPAR manager configuration is saved (ex. F9 function in LP screen). In such a case, saving an LPAR manager configuration will fail even after communication between the management module and the LPAR manager is recovered. (3) The problem which passes the improper value to guest OS, as the value which guest OS recognizes as CPU frequency. Therefore, OS time may gain for 20 seconds at the maximum per day, when the conditions are met. - 32 bits versions of RHEL5 series, - RHEL5.4 or higher - using the kernel parameter "avoid_smi" (4) LPAR migration (concurrent maintenance mode) using a migration path which matches both following conditions does not progress at all after starting memory transfer of guest OS and displaying the following message; "Stage=0x4050 : (SRC) Transferring Memory Data" (in the case of Virtage Navigator use)
