Dear Alumni,
I am pleased to present the 21st issue of alumni bulletin. The college organized Campus
Drives with TCS. HK also participated in pooled campus drive of Advantmed, Nestle.
Students participated in Career guidance session, Republic day celebration, Annual College
Cultural Festival (Orane‟18) and Annual sports‟ day, Industrial visits.
As ever, we always work towards giving you more and more news about college, do send us

SEMINAR ON CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN ABROAD
Seminar was organized on the topic “India to Europe-Career Opportunities Beyond
Boundaries” for B. Pharm. and M. Pharm Students on 5th July, 2018. Dr. Girish H. Kedar, a
very dynamic speaker, presented a short summary about enlisting the various universities for
Pharmaceutical Education especially for higher studies in European countries like
Netherland, Germany and Sweden. Light was put on different types of courses and
curriculum available. All the requirements for application and admission procedure were
talked on. Requirements of competitive exams, such as IELTS and TOEFL for the
application procedure based on location of university were informed to students. The cost of
living in different countries was informed. Students were also told about work option they
can avail along with rules for working on student visa and earnings students can make with
part time working options. Students enquired about scholarships available and the application
process and timeline, criteria to avail them. He also explained about how to make attention
grabbing profile on LinkedIn. Students asked many questions at the end of the session, which
were answered satisfactorily by Dr. Girish H. Kedar.
MENTOR MENTEE PROGRAM ‘INVOLVE TO EVOLVE’
AND ALUMNI MEET
The 4th
Mentor-mentee Alumni meet “Involve to Evolve” was organized on 28th
July 2018 in
the HK College of Pharmacy for second, third year and final year students. The occasion was
graced by alumni from different batches of HKCP. Alumni enlightened students about
diverse options available to pharmacy students after graduation and the wide scope for
Pharma graduates in various fields. Mr Amyn Sopariwala (Disaster management, Boston
Airport), Ms Advitte (Regulatory Affairs, Canada) and Mr. Zaid Temrikar (PhD,
Pharmaceutical Sciences) shared their experience about the opportunities of pharmacy abroad
and various competitive exams to enter into these courses. Bhagyesh Pendse (Jr. Executive
R& D) laid down the advantages of getting into R&D sector. Ms Zahara spoke about supply
chain management opportunities in hospitals, Mr Palak introduced new career opportunities
in the field of IPR and the challenges to be faced in IPR. Ms Chandrakala spoke about jobs in
Purchase department and its scope. Ms Jenil Ashani, Mr. Murtuza K, Mr. Aniket, Mr. Naveen
and Mr. Amit Singh shared their experience in sales and marketing.They also spoke about
hierarchy in Sales and Marketing Department, scope of sales, difference between sales and
marketing. Mentees asked different doubts such as difference between MBA & Pharm MBA,
Problems/ difficulties faced in Techno marketing job, Part time MBA, whether work
experience should be taken first or Post-graduation studies/MBA, examinations to be cleared
to get into courses abroad. The success of programme was analysed through feedback of
current students as well as mentors. Total 132 mentees have attended the program. The
program was appreciated by all. The mentors as well as mentee mentioned that they can get
benefitted out of such programs for all kind of assistance. It‟s indeed very good platform for
interaction.
ORIENTATION PROGRAM FOR FIRST YEAR
An Orientation Program was organized at H. K. College of Pharmacy on 4th
August 2018 for
First Year B. Pharm students and their Parents. The Orientation program was started with
warm welcome by Ms. Rachel Coderio. She gave overview of program and introduced
Principal Dr. Anubha Khale. Session was started by Dr. Anubha Khale who welcomed
audience. She enlightened the audience regarding the different prospectus of 'Pharmacy',
Pharmacy as profession and highlighted the promising growth rate of the pharma industry.
She discussed various job opportunities available for pharmacy graduates and encouraged
students to feel proud that they have selected Pharmacy profession which works towards
betterment of the society. HKCP infrastructure, approvals, introduction to faculty, B. Pharm
curriculum, examination rules and ordinances, discipline rules, attendance rules and
ordinance, antirraging, importance of lectures & practicals, student council, scholarship,
extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, industrial training for students, college magazine,
college website, tutorials, focused study & mentoring system, IPA membership, NBA
accreditations, career opportunities and job placement of HKCP were described by faculty
members in the form of presentation. The presentation ended with an inspiring speech by the
Technical Director, Prof. (Dr.) Vinaykumar Velingkar which was followed by question
answer session. Dr Anagha Raut announced about college tour, refreshment and presented
vote of thanks. After completion of college tour, parents and students had refreshment and
got an opportunity to interact interaction with the faculty and Principal.
LIBRARY EXHIBITION
Book Exhibition was organized at H.K.College of Pharmacy by library committee in the
Pharmacy Library premises on 24/08/2018 and 25/08/2018 from 11.00am to 4.00pm for two
days. It was inauguration by Dr. Savita Kulkarni (chief guest of program) at 11.00am on
24/08/2018.The vendors‟ participated in exhibition are Sai Book Centre, Bhakativendata
Book Centre and K.M. Verghese. The main objective of book exhibition is to display
Pharmacy books, Reference books and other General books with latest editions to students
and faculty members.The actual review of books help students to understand the content
related to different subject and respective topic according to the syllabus that will help to buy
books for library as well as individual students. All Faculties are participated in book
exhibition. They compared the books of same title with other authored books and selected
best out of it. All have selected around 200 titles. Students from all First to Final year
B.pharm and M.Pharm participated in book exhibition. This opportunity benefited students
and faculties to improve knowledge about different books for subjects of B.Pharm and
M.Pharm as per syllabus.The event was organized in order to sow the seed of interest in
reading books, inculcate reading habits and to improve skills in conceptual knowledge in
students. The event was successfully completed and got positive feedback from students as
well as vendors.
FRESHER’S PARTY
H.K College of pharmacy organized an astonishing Fresher‟s party for the freshers on 1st
September 2018. The theme of the party was “Saints & Sinners”. Students were elegantly
dressed for the occasion. Jovial smiles and high spirit marked the welcome of the freshers.
The party manifested youth & enthusiasm at its full flow. With pulsating ambience, and foot
tapping music, the party started with calling of each fresher on the stage by hosts. The
freshers were asked to introduce themselves and reveal their talent to the other students and
staff, while they were assessed by panel of judges. After fair assessment of all freshers, the
judges crowned and awarded the following students.

The audience were then directed towards food arrangement. Lastly joy & happiness could be
seen in the eyes of every student as they created a sense of the unity & togetherness while
welcoming the freshers to the HKCP family.
NATIONAL SEMINAR AND TECHCRUNCH
The department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmacognosy of the H. K. College of Pharmacy,
Jogehwari (W), Mumbai, organized two days intercollege scientific program on 5th and
6th October 2018. The theme of the seminar was „Challenges and Strategies in Herbal
Formulation‟ along with Techcrunch competition.
Students and faculty from various Pharmacy colleges participated in this two-day event.
This include MET‟s Institute of Pharmacy, Mumbai; Allana College of Pharmacy, Pune;
VIVA Institute of Pharmacy, Virar; D. D. Vispute College of Pharmacy & Research
Center, Panvel; Anjuman-I-Islam's Kalsekar Technical Campus, School Of Pharmacy,
Navi Mumbai; and H. K. College of Pharmacy, Jogeshwari.
Different competitions like Debate, Model Making and Innovative Product Packaging
were arranged. Students from H. K. College of Pharmacy and other colleges like Allana
College of Pharmacy, Pune; VIVA Institute of Pharmacy, Virar; D. D. Vispute College
of Pharmacy & Research Center, Panvel and Anjuman-I-Islam's Kalsekar Technical
Campus, School Of Pharmacy, Navi Mumbai participated enthusiastically in the different
competitions and won the prizes. There were total 12 groups for debate competition, 22
groups for model making and 13 groups for innovative packaging which were evaluated
by expert judges.
FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
H. K. College of Pharmacy, Jogehwari (W), Mumbai, successfully organized Industry
Sponsored, ISTE Recognized, One-week Faculty Development Program “New Paradigm in
Pharmaceutical Education and Research”from 26th November to 1st December 2018. Mr.
Sanjay B. Wagh (Director, Rumit Chemisynth Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai) was chief guest of this
program.
Faculty from various Pharmacy colleges such as Principal K. M. Kundnani College of
Pharmacy, Mumbai, Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Pharmacy, Mumbai; MET‟s Institute
of Pharmacy, Mumbai; Oriental College of Pharmacy, Navi Mumbai; Viva Institute of
Pharmacy, Virar; Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Pharmacy, Navi Mumbai; Anjuman-I-Islam's
Kalsekar Technical Campus, School of Pharmacy, Navi Mumbai; St John College of
Pharmacy, Palghar; Ideal College, Kalyan; and H. K. College of Pharmacy participated in the
event. The program included lectures and demonstration/ hands on training of different
analytical instruments by the industry experts. Core subjects like pharmaceutics,
pharmaceutical analysis, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology and pharmacognosy were
discussed.
