It is my hope that our residents find Joy, Wellness, & Independence here at Brentwood as we strive for excellence in all departments! Check below for some quick reminders from the marketing department: Welcome Home Party: We will host welcome home parties for all new residents here at Brentwood. We hope our Welcome Home parties will socialize the new & old residents while also creating eternal memories of JOY. Our parties will occur at the end of each month, each new family will receive an invitation from our activity department. Please stop by and enjoy the festivities during these parties! New Resident Luncheons: We are asking all new families to sign up for our new resident luncheon socials. We would like to welcome new residents & their families to our community with a catered private lunch on us! The socials are an opportunity to gather with family and friends privately while catching up on old memories. Please contact the Marketing Office about this opportunity. Events: • July 24th the Heart Gallery, will be here! The Heart Gallery is a traveling photographic exhibit featuring children in foster care who need a loving home. We will host the exhibit July 24- August 4th, please invite your family out for the opening day! • August we will host our back to school bash for children heading back to school! As details develop I will notify residents should you want to participate this year. • August 11, 2017 we will host a chat with HTS Therapy on Balance Therapy in our east side activity area from 10:00 AM -11:30 AM. • September we are looking to host Congressman Pete Visclosky again ! Details to come in late July. New Resident Alert: A balloon in the dining hall signifies a new resident! Please welcome our new residents with a simple hello, a friendly smile, and a hug! Please make this transition easier for ALL new residents with your hospitality! Family Shout-outs Extra ….Extra …Read All About It : We are still allowing our families to connect via the newsletter! Submit a personal message or picture for your loved one to be featured in our newsletter! We will add as many entries each month to the newsletter, please be advised space is limited! From the Activity Director’s DeskAre there any activities or outings that we currently don’t have on our calendar that you would like to see happen here at Brentwood? If so, please attend our monthly Activity Meeting. That meeting is held to discuss new program ideas and remove programs that y’all would like to be taken off the calendars. New suggestions are always accepted and welcomed.
We had a request to take a trip to the Casino, so we will be going there in July. Please remember that if you’d like to go on an outing with us, you need to sign up in one of the sign up books. The bus sign up book on West is located on the sofa table in the café area. The bus sign up book on East is located on the sofa table right outside of the dining room.

RESIDENT SPOTLIGHTThis month, we are “spotlighting” Cathy S. Cathy was born in Clay County, Hoosier Township, Illinois. Cathy was married to Ted on February 16, 1945 at a Methodist Church in Hobart, Indiana. They were married for 71 years and her husband, Ted, lived here at Brentwood with her. Cathy and her family moved to Hobart when she was a young, 5 years old. She grew up in Hobart and went to school in Hobart. The only other state she lived in was Illinois until age 5. Cathy & Ted had 3 children; Sharon, Charles, & Nancy. Together, they have 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Cathy worked in the office at a sheet & tin mill in Gary. She also worked at Montgomery Ward in the Personnel Office. As a family, they enjoyed going to state parks, starved rock, and turkey run. They loved to cook together and enjoyed family holidays the most. Cathy & Ted enjoyed traveling. Some of the places they enjoyed together were; Amazon River and Panama Canal. They went on cruises and had a good time going from the Atlantic to Pacific Ocean. What is Cathy’s favorite thing about Brentwood? She said her favorite thing about Brentwood is all the friends she has met and has reunited with old friends. Cathy didn’t realize some of her old friends lived here until she moved in. Cathy enjoys the activities, scenic drives, picnic, Portage Beach Riverwalk, games and book club, as she is an avid reader. Cathy wants everybody to know that she really loves the staff here at Brentwood.
