No pitcher ever scared lethanded hitters

out o the lineup and sent them scurrying, like

mice to their holes, the way he did.

    -Tom Verducci, Sports Illustrated writer

    Hes one o th

    -Ken Grifey Jr.

I ocused on being the best I could be,

not better than others, but the best I could

be. That meant having to dig a little deeper

when I was tired, being able to throw 130 or

    140 pitches, beinga warrior.

    -Randy Johnson

He is the number one dominating pitcher in baseball. I dont

even know whos number two. Ive never seen anybody like him.

I look at those things now and I really just kind o

smile. I am able to refect more now that my career is

over, and open up about more o those kinds o things.

Back then, I think when I started having success I

didnt want to start talking about my success because

I didnt want to get too ar ahead o mysel. I just

wanted to stay ocused on the task at hand.

Randy Johnson, on his memories as a b allplayer

    Randy was co-MVP o the 2001

World Series, but his greatest joy

    was sharing success with his

    amily, including his 300th win.

    With SeattleMariners

    I miss game day quite

a bit. I miss the preparation

that I would put into leading

up to the game that I would

    pitch, whether it was

    working out in the weight

    room, sitting down with my

    catcher and going over a

game plan, adjusting thatgame plan throughout the

course o the game that I was

    actually pitching, just that

    whole day. I miss that.
