The month gone by has been eventful and full of activity despite the sweltering heat. We
have had the Northern India Junior Championship which saw the young brigade facing
the hot sun for four consecutive days. It was a pleasure to watch the juniors & sub juniors
braving the event with competitive scores. The play off for the A category was a sight to watch
which could finally be decided on the fifth hole. Kudos to the juniors. Our NGC lot did us proud
by winning quite a few events. The results and details are given in the magazine. After the
tournament an exclusive event was held under the aegis of Toyota Etios which was well attended.
once again another junior event saw a record number of entries. Although quite a few
golfers were of the opinion that it is hard and tough for the juniors to play in this part of the season but the
kiddies went through both the tournaments sportingly. I suppose the IGU and Albatross calendar would
have some constraints on that account.
With the petrol prices having soared, the prices of our catering items have also been revised along with the
subscription rates and other connected issues. Do look up the notice boards.
Both, the Platinum or Gold
cards are available at a yearly fee of and respectively. The fees for the first year is waived off.
The platinum card has a whole lot of privileges as compared to the Gold card but the choice is entirely with
the esteemed members.
A . Do visit & try them out.
The Coaching classes at the Swimming pool are in full swing. Both children and adults are welcome to join in.
The work on some of the fairways has begun & will be completed within three weeks. Inconvenience caused
to the golfers is deeply regretted. But then these are the only few months before the onset of monsoon that
we get to make any major changes. Do bear with us.

Maintenance of the CourseAfter the exciting and great finish of the Northern India Junior Open, a wave of motivation has struck the workers of NGC. The bright faces and comments of the young golfers and their parents about the condition of the Golf Course has made us believe that NGC will not only be amongst the best Golf Courses in NCR region but the whole of India.
Now we are looking at a major construction project on our back 9 fairways. Hole nos. 11, 12, 13 and 14 have always faced a water logging problem during the monsoon time. We are going to be reshaping certain parts of the fairways and introducing sub surface drainage and putting catch basins to drain water. A pond will be constructed on hole no. 14 (From 1st fairway bunker and extending behind) that would extend to hole no. 13 right hand side rough which will accumulate all the rain water during monsoon time. Catch basins will also be constructed on holes 11 and 12 fairways which will be connected by means of underground drainage pipes to the already existing hazards on the fairway. This process will eliminate the problem of water logging. This project will take almost 3 weeks to complete. I request the members to be patient as we might have to close these fairways during construction.
Next we will take up the job of coring the fairways for the 2nd time with effect from June 15, so that we can complete this work before the monsoon hits us. Target date of completion is 30th June.

?In primitive society, when native tribes beat the ground with clubs and yelled, it was called witchcraft; today, in civilized society, it is called golf.
?The man who takes up golf to get his mind off his work soon takes up work to get his mind off golf.
?Golf was once a rich man's sport, but now it has millions of poor players!
?The secret of good golf is to hit the ball hard, straight and not too often.
?There are three ways to improve your golf game: take lessons, practice constantly ... or start cheating.
?An amateur golfer is one who addresses the ball twice ... once before swinging, and once again, after swinging.
?Many a golfer prefer a golf cart to a caddy because it cannot count, criticize or laugh.
?Golf is a game in which the slowest people in the world are those in front of you, and the fastest are those behind.
?Golf: A five mile walk punctuated with frequent disappointments.
?There's no game like golf: you go out with three friends, play eighteen holes, and return with three enemies.
