Come celebrate one of Cottey’s oldest and most special traditions, one that began back in 1931! Following a candlelight chapel service, participants will go caroling and adorn the campus with evergreen wreaths.
Hanging of the Greens Semi-formal DanceSaturday, December 7, at 9:00 p.m.Hinkhouse Gym
Celebrate the holiday season with the final event of the Hanging of the Greens tradition. Sponsored by Inter-Society, this semi-formal dance will feature a theme to complement the week of activities.
Instrumental Music ConcertSunday, December 8, at 3:00 p.m.Center for the Arts
Join us as the Cottey Jazz Ensemble and Wind Ensemble perform a variety of literature, including music from the movie The Hobbit and other classic works.

Join us for a performance featuring students in all the Cottey dance classes and student choreography projects.

DECEMBER PAYROLLThe December payrolls for hourly wage employees will be issued on Friday, December 13, and Friday, December 20. The December monthly payroll for faculty and administrative staff will be issued on Friday, December 20. Enjoy your holidays!
Human ResourcesUnited Way Contributions
Please send your United Way enrollment/contribution forms to Betsy McReynolds in Main Hall. It’s a great way to give back to our local community in the form of tax-free payroll deduction. They are due by Friday, December 6. If you misplaced your form, please call Betsy McReynolds or Adam Dean for a new one.
Position Search
Cottey is currently conducting an internal search for the position of Vice President for Administration and Finance. Interested candidates should send a cover letter and résumé via email to [email protected] with a due date of December 6, 2013.
Flex Spending
Flex Spending forms for 2014 were sent via email on December 2. The enrollment forms can also be found on the Cottey Intranet in the Faculty/Staff portal. If you wish to enroll for the 2014 calendar year, you must do so by December 31, 2013.
CondolencesOur condolences are extended to Sandy McGatha, counselor in the Office of Student Life, at the passing of her mother, Pearl West. Funeral services were held at Ferry Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 27.
Our sympathies are also extended to Neal Swarnes, director of the physical plant, at the loss of his mother, Margie Swarnes. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ of LDS in Nevada, Missouri, on Sunday, December 1.
Congratulations!We extend our Congratulations to Adam Dean, director of academic computing, and wife Elise, at the birth of their baby girl, born Tuesday, November 12, at 8:22 a.m. Ainsley Ellen Dean weighed 7 lbs., 13 oz. and was 19 inches long.

Staff NewsCongratulations are extended to Terri Fallin, director of development in the Office of Institutional Advancement, who recently completed and passed her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) examination. According to the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the CFRE “demonstrates an individual’s mastery of the standards set for core knowledge and skills required of fundraising executives.” The examination is open to fundraisers with at least five years of experience who meet criteria regarding professional practice, education, performance, and service.
Fallin also recently accepted an appointment to the Board of Advocates for the Baylor University School of Social Work.
Wellness ProgramBiggest Loser Challenge
There will be a required weigh-in for employees participating in the Biggest Loser Challenge on Tuesday, December 10, in the Fitness Center. BLC participants can weigh-in from 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. Anyone unable to make that time should contact Karen, ext. 2251 and set up an appointment to weigh-in. The two highest percentages of weight lost will be announced so others know where they stand at the half way point. Remember this challenge continues until May 5, 2014.
