The 2019 Richard Rohr Retreat ‘The Universal Christ’
Beginning on Friday December 6th at 12 noon and ending with lunch on Monday December 9th
It’s with great excitement that Holland House brings you this very special retreat based on Richard Rohr’s most recent work – “The Universal Christ”.
Excitement because this retreat is being run in collaboration with Rohr’s Retreat Centre – The Centre for Action and Contem-plation in the U.S.A. Holland House has been offered some ex-clusive video and other resource by the CAC to help make this retreat a fabulous experience, and they’re aware and supportive of this particular event – the only one of its kind in the UK this year.
The retreat will focus on Fr Richards latest (and some say great-est) of his works, which looks deeply into what we mean and understand by the “Christ” .
“The union of matter and spirit, of human and divine, is re-vealed in the cosmos as Christ and in human history as Jesus. Richard Rohr’s long-awaited book paints a portrait of God’s infi-nite love, offering a healing vision of wholeness at the heart of
the universe” – which is what we’ll be exploring together.
The retreat will be run by Revd Ian Spencer – Warden of Holland House, Mr Urs Mattmann, and Mrs Dorothy Littlewood (Alumni of the CAC Living School).
Price £295 fully inclusive of all meals and accommodation

Praying Differently
Prayer is at the heart of all spiritual journeying, yet for many of us it seems difficult and unsatisfying. Often this is because we've never progressed our prayer-practice, that is, we've never learned about the very many other ways we might pray. The Christian tradition has a very rich heritage of prayer practice, and these one-day retreats are designed to introduce prayer practices that connect directly with body/heart/mind - a trans-formative experience.
Places are limited to four people to enable
one-to-one discussion / teaching. Prayer practices include; Prayer rope, rosary, icons, lectio divina, meditation, breath work, Centring Prayer, Christian mantra, devotional. During the morning the participant will have time to find a practice that feels in harmony with them, and in the afternoon Revd Ian Spencer will be available to talk on a one-to-one basis to help establish the new practice with each person.

Neil Douglas-Klotz
Treasures of the Hidden Gospel
From 5pm Friday1st until 2pm Sunday 3rd November Following on from the hugely successful retreat in September 2018, Holland House has been able to secure Neil Douglas-Klotz for another very special weekend. In Neil’s words the weekend involves “Heartsong, Silence and Movement, with the Aramaic words of Jesus”. Neil continues — “The Aramaic words of Jesus provide a direct pathway to his experience of contemplative prayer, healing and the sacred. During this workshop we will learn and chant together selected short phrases from his Prayer, the Beatitudes, and other sayings in the Gospels. We will then use them in contemplative prayer and silence as well as experience simple body prayers in the form of Dances of Universal Peace, linked to his Middle Eastern way of experiencing Alaha — Sacred Unity — as a force that moves through every aspect of our everyday lives”.

FINDING YOUR GOD is a one-to-one residential, 2 day retreat offering an opportunity to explore what God, the Divine, the Absolute, means to you.
Even people of longstanding faith can feel they’ve never really encountered God, traditional images sometimes being unhelpful. This retreat is for any-one who wants to widen or deepen their explora-tion of the Divine, moving from other peoples ideas of God, to discovering God deeply for ourselves.
These are one-to-one retreats so enquiries are sim-ilar to those from The View From the Hill retreat, i.e. email Revd Ian Spencer [email protected]
Ian will send an overview of the itinerary which in-cludes four sessions of one-to-one time during the two days.
The price is £170 fully inclusive, dates to be agreed by mutual arrangement but will always be during Tuesday to Friday.
THE VIEW FROM THE HILL
Need to step back for a while and take a view as to what's happened in your life, your faith, your health or work? If there's one certainty in life, it's that things change - including long-held beliefs, aspirations or desires.
The View from the Hill is for anyone who needs to step back from their life-situation and have some time to take stock and perhaps deepen their experience of the presence of the divine in their life. It's an individually guided retreat (IGR) that lasts for three days during which time we sit together on our (metaphorical) hilltop.
Day one involves asking “why have I come to this place?” and re-membering the journey.
Day two is about laying the past and future down, and learning to become very aware of the present moment, and what the im-
plications are for our lives when we do that. Day three involves preparing to leave the hill, returning to the life-situation from whence we came, but perhaps better pre-pared for encountering it afresh. I meet with the participant twice each day, once in the morning, once in the afternoon – to listen and to be a companion “on the hill”.
Dates for the retreat by appointment Cost: £285 fully inclusive
