Holocaust Memorial Day 27 January 2018 Holocaust Memorial Day takes place on 27 January each year, (the date the largest Nazi death camp at Auschwitz- Birkenau was liberated). It is a date to remember the millions of people who were murdered and persecuted during the Holocaust, Nazi Persecution and subsequent genocides. The Power of Words The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust’s theme for 2018 is ‘the power of words’. We encourage everyone to use positive words to good effect. Your voice or powerful words, thoughts, reflections, stories or case studies can help people learn lessons from the past. Help eradicate discrimination, reject hate crime or incitement of hate crime and prejudice across County Durham.
