Messages from the Pastor

ELECTION TIME! Every parish in the Diocese of Wilmington is incorporated under Title 287 of the Delaware Code. Each parish, as a corporation, has five (5) trustees which include the Bishop, the Designee of the Bishop (usually the Chancellor of the Diocese), the Pastor of the Parish and two (2) lay persons who are registered members of the Parish. Each year in accordance with State Law, an election must be held to elect the two parish trustees. On the form below, please nominate a parishioner of Holy Family to serve as a trustee of the parish. The person must be a registered member of the parish and at least 28 years of age. Trustees are needed to sign any official papers such as the purchase of property or transfer of property. Please return this nomination to the office or place it in the collection basket by Jan. 20th. The elections will occur on the weekend of Jan. 26th & 27th, 2019. SNOW WATCH !! In the event of a severe storm and a State of Emergency is called, all parish offices are closed and all liturgies and programming are cancelled. In each case, the obligation to attend Sunday liturgy is dispensed. Mass intentions are, of course, rescheduled. Before ven-turing out, it is always wise to call

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

While praising God in the Blessed Sacrament you will be hearing the Divine Mercy Chaplet being sung.

It is a beautiful experience,

In the peacefulness, you can feel His presence.

Why not try it ?

SILENT PRAYER:

Our parish has a group of people who will earnestly pray for any needs you have. This is done anonymously via a telephone prayer chain. If you have a special need for which you are in need of prayer call: 731-4297, 738-3033 or 894-0726 before 7:30 p.m. and we will pray for you.you

MARRIAGE MOMENTS

Sunday January 6:

Copartner means equal in dignity and decision making. Being a mem-ber of the same body means that we are in

this life together. What happens to one of us,

impacts the other.

PARENTING POINTERS

Sunday January 6:

January 6 is the Feast of the Epiphany when Chris-tians celebrate the 3 kings, who had been following a star and found the baby, Jesus. Celebrate this with your children by simply

walking outside and marvel at the stars. Seek

to understand the mystery of the universe.

“Books for the Veterans at the

VA,”

This is a new initi-ative by the VA,

and supported by the Knights of

Columbus, trying to break the boredom at the VA hospital in Elsmere. This Initiative is an opportunity

to get rid of reading books and give them to the Volunteer Services Department at the VA Hospital.

The donated books are then placed on bookshelves or taken room by room to the Veteran's free of charge!

It is a new mission, a new program. It is a mission by Volunteer Services Department to break the boredom in the Hospital, break the boredom of Hurry Up and Wait. Patients and their families arrive at the hospital for various testing and meetings or interviews and arrive early just to wait. This is a great oppor-tunity to donate , clear the shelves of books in your home, garage, attic, basement and donate to the VA hospital for the patients, veterans and their families. The Initiative will put books in the hands of Veterans and family while they are in the hospital waiting for service by any department.

What is required? You clear the bookshelves in the home, check the basement and garage for books and take the reading materials to the VA Hospital in Elsmere.. Just take the books to room 189, right by the Chapel on the lower floor. Enter via the West Wing near Valet Parking. This initiative supporting veterans and the VA does not cost the individual or group The only associated cost would be the cost of gas and the value of personal time gathering and taking the books to the VA in Elsmere.

If you are donating the books as a member of or in the name of the Knights, please request and fill out an , “IN KIND,” form.(room 189)
