Advent Prayer Lord Jesus, Master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas. We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day. We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us. We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom. We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence. We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light. Fr John Frauenfelder’s Words of Wisdom: A century ago, English poet Rudyard Kipling penned his famous advice poem “If.” He says in the poem that if you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, or walk with kings and not lose the common touch, then you will truly be a man. Kipling taught that we must be true to ourselves and not let fame and fortune sweep reality aside. Those who suddenly become Australian Idols and famous actors can easily lose their sense of bal-ance. They fall victim to drugs, alcohol and other delusions. They become intoxicated with their own self-importance, like TVs Dr. Phil, who allegedly threw a fit because a private restroom was not provid-ed for him. John the Baptist never lost his sense of balance. He made it clear that he was not the messiah. John explained: “I am baptizing you in water, but there is one to come who is mightier than I. I am not fit to loosen his sandal strap. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire.” This weekend we light the third Advent candle. The third candle is the Candle of Joy. It reminds us of the joy that Mary felt when the angel Gabriel told her that a special child would be born to her - a child who would save and deliver his people.

Year 6 Graduation Thank you to all who helped with Year 6 graduation Mass and meal on Wednesday. The Mass was a beautiful, prayerful liturgy. Thank you Father Colin, Father Thomas and Mrs Hogan. Thank you to the Year 6 parents who helped plan and prepare the hall and the Year 5 parents who did a fabulous job providing food and refreshments. My thanks also to the wonderful parents who stayed and packed up and cleaned the hall afterwards.

School Leadership Team - 2019 Year 5 have been busy applying for various leadership roles for next year. I am pleased to announce the following:

Any other positions will be announced early in 2019.

Thank you for your support Thank you all for your trust and support during 2018 and for the wonderful contributions throughout the year. On a sadder note, this is the time of year when we farewell our Year 6 senior group and with them some families who will be seeing their youngest child head off to high school after many years of association with Holy Family. Thank you Year 6, I know each of you will have special memories of your time at Holy Family. I wish you well as you move on to new and exciting challenges. Best wishes also to those families who are moving and relocating. I hope your experience at Holy Family has been a positive one. I wish you all a holy, safe and happy Christmas. I hope you enjoy the break as much as I am looking forward to it! Lou Dogao - Principal
