The Greatest of Gifts: Holy Sacrifice of the Mass

If you would like to have a Mass celebrated for a special intension, on behalf of a

someone in great need, family member, a friend, or a deceased loved one, please com-

plete the Mass Intention envelope on the table found in the Narthex. Then place the

envelope in any of the collection plates at any weekend Mass. Please contact the office

at 713.683.9407 for information. St. John Paul II emphasized the graces that come

when a Mass is offered. "The Church believes that she will be heard, for she prays in union with Christ her Head and Spouse, who takes up this plea of His Bride and joins it to His own redemptive sacrifice."

Dear Faithful of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham,

Faithfully in Christ through Mary,

The Cathedral and Chancery Clergy

Happy Birthday!

Prophets: Messengers of God’s Mercy

If we consider that God is the Divine Bridegroom and the Church is his Bride, then the prophets can be seen as “spiritual marriage counselors.” They afflict the comfort-able and comfort the afflicted, calling us to return to our covenant relationship with God. They urge us to repent-ance, warn us of the dangers of sin, and announce the blessings of faithfulness. Their prophetic words speak to us even today, as they draw us closer to our heavenly Bridegroom. The Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham

will begin a ten-week Bible study Prophets: Messengers of God’s Mercy on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 7:00 pm. Participants will meet every week to view an engaging video presentation fol-lowed by a time of lively group discussion and fellowship. For more information or to register, visit the parish website at olwcatholic.org/bible-studies or contact John McGarry at 713.679.8110

Moveable Feasts Moveable Feasts are periodic dinners for 8-10 parishioners who meet in the home of one of the families for a social dinner. No agenda. The Host family for each dinner provides the main course, and the other members provide side dishes, bread, des-sert, and wine if desired. The hosting family rotates among the group. Both singles and couples are invited. The goal is to have a sit-down dinner to share a meal and

get to know each other. The meals are intended to be simple, soup and grilled cheese is just as good as steak and lobster. The goal of the group is to get to know better your fellow parishioners and foster the sense of family within our Parish community. Contact George Greene 713-725-9106 by email at [email protected]
