Dear Parishioners, TELL ME A STORY!! Everyone loves a good story! Stories enliven the imagination, stir the heart, make us laugh and cry, and have the power to teach, give hope, awaken! Each of us has stories that we will never forget because we have lived them. We have our favorite books, movies, plays, concerts, art, nature places, all of which tell a story. We all tell stories all day long and yet, when we are asked to share our faith story, some of us feel like we will break out in hives! This is the story which may make a difference in the life of a child, a loved one who is in pain, a grandmother who is dying, a groom who is nervous, or a friend who doubts God’s love. Jesus told stories for a reason. He shows us the importance of telling stories. We will explore stories this year: the primary story of Jesus, the stories/parables Jesus told, the stories of God’s people in the Old and New Testaments; our own stories as God’s people, and the stories of 12 saints. We are reminded by Saint John Paul II and Pope Francis that God is very near to us, God cares for us, and God calls us by name to be in communion with Him. They remind us that stories first are told within the family, where our Catholic culture, with its traditions, history, and practices, comes alive. And most importantly, they remind us that our faith is not separate from the rest of our lives. It is a way of life. This year, we have shortened our learning sessions so that families can come and learn and worship together. We invite all parents and guardians to join us. We will experience lessons, small group faith sharing, and activities with our children. At other times, we will separate into groups for each age level which will include faith formation for the parents and guardians where adult faith conversations and learning can take place. As we worship together, we will hear the Gospel message for the week. Each family will be given a special sealed envelope to take home weekly to explore that message as a family during the week. Surprises will be included on occasion! We are looking forward to meeting you, spending time with you, telling and hearing stories, and above all, growing closer to God together. Jesus’ peace, Georgette Dionne, Director of Lifelong Faith Formation

We are all called to serve…Volunteer opportunities at POTHE

The key words that we will focus on in our study this week are RELATIONSHIP and RESPONSE. What does this word relationship really mean for us? And how are we going to respond to it? Imagine the people in your life with whom you have a relationship. What characterizes this relationship? Who initiated it? What makes it strong? Now, think about your relationship with God. Where does it come from? What keeps it going? We were made to be in relationship not just with each other, but with God. Did you know that God created you out of his own love and goodness simply because he wanted you to share in his own blessed life?

For Home Study, three ways to get your materials: 1.We will have all the resources for you on the front page of our Website www.pothe.org. 2.We will also send you an email with links to the video and study questions each Saturday. 3. We will have printed copies of the Study Guides available at Church each weekend.

For Parish Study, choose from one of these sessions: St. Gregory, 6:30 pm, Sunday October 1 Holy Martyrs, 6:30 pm, Monday October 2 Sacred Heart, 9:15 am, Tuesday October 3 St. Jude, 6:30 pm, Tuesday October 3 All materials will be provided for you. Pre-registration is not necessary but is helpful. Visit our website www.pothe.org to register. FMI: Catherine, 847-6884.
