2 Holy Queen 2013 FEBRUARY

"In the spiritual journey of the Rosary, based on the constant

contemplation - in Mary's company - of the face of Christ,

this demanding ideal of being conformed to him is pursued throughan association which could be described in terms of friendship.

We are thereby enabled to enter naturally into Christ's life

and as it were to share his deepest feelings''.

 Pope John Paul II

3Holy Queen 2013 FEBRUARY 3Holy Queen 2013 FEBRUARY

This is the hour when I want to gather you

all into the spiritual cenacle of my Immaculate

Heart. Here, the prodigy of the second Pentecost

for the Church and for all humanity will soon take

place.

The Holy Spirit will give his perfect testimony.

It is the testimony of the Holy Spirit which

will convince the world of sin.

In the light of his truth, all humanity will un-

derstand the abyss into which it has allowed itself

to be led by Satan who, in it [humanity] and by

means of it, has wanted to repeat the proud gesture of his rejection of God and of hisLaw.

Thus humanity has arrived at building a civilization without God, has given itself

a morality contrary to His Law, has justified every form of evil and of sin, and has al-

lowed itself to be seduced by materialism, hatred, violence and impurity. By the divine

fire of the Holy Spirit, humanity will be completely purified, that it may again become

that new garden where the Most Holy Trinity will receive its greatest glory.

It is the testimony of the Holy Spirit which will profoundly renew the Church.

In the light of the truth, the Church will see itself in all its human weakness and will

be healed of its crisis of faith; it will be set free from the snares of errors, which havespread the deep wound of apostasy and infidelity within it.

Renewed by the divine fire of the Holy Spirit, the entire Church will reflect the

glory of its Lord and will again become a faithful and chaste spouse, all beautiful, without

spot or wrinkle, in imitation of its heavenly Mother.

It is the testimony of the Holy Spirit which will bring you to an understanding of

the whole and entire truth.

The hour has come when my Son Jesus must be glorfied by all. With the prodigy of the

second Pentescost, humanity will acknowledge Jesus Christ as its Redeemer and as its

only Savior. Then the Holy Spirit will open hearts and souls to welcome Christ, who will return

to you in the splender of his divine glory.

Thus my Immaculate Heart will finally attain its great triumph’’.

PRAYER

O Most Holy Virgin Mother, dearest one of the Holy Spirit, we pray that His light may fall upon

humanity, and especially on the church, to be renewed for paving the way for the Second Coming,

and the triumph of thy Immaculate Heart, Amen.

In the Light of His Truth

“And my God will fully satisfy every need of yours according to his

riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:19).

Our Lord has earmarked the year 2013 as an Year of Blessing for Spirit

in Jesus. Vast and deep like a sea, blessings lie before you; ask and you shall be

given, that is what the Lord said. This promise was given during the Night

Vigil on 31-12-2012. Since then I have started praying for blessings everydayand I do experience the miraculous intervention of Our Lord daily in my life.

What a relief this divine promise gives to man hard pressed by miseries!

In 2013 Spirit in Jesus is ushering into its Silver Jubilee year. It com-

mences on 01-03-2013. And what is our great jubilee celebration ? For Spirit in

Jesus which has been chosen to be a holy community our great call is to get

sanctified. “...As he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your con-

duct” (1Pt 1:15). The greatest thing that God demands from us is our own in-

depth sanctification. We live in a world full of sins and iniquities, in a genera-

tion which can neither think of the holiness of God nor is able to put it in

practice; a generation which, in order to accomodate with the world, listens to

interpretations of the word of God that destroy its sharpness and power. Where

does the holiness of God stand ? And what is the level of man’s thoughts ? We

see compromises and adjustments everywhere.

“The unfolding of your words gives light” (Ps 119:130). Light is the

holiness of God. And when the word of God is interpreted and proclaimed

the holiness of God shall permeate to its listeners. The Kingdom of Heaven

grows there.

In my 25 years of spiritual life and service the greatest emphasis was given to

sanctification process. Through word of God people were led to a deep sin-conscious-

ness that the power of sin is Satan, and thus disarming the powers of sin and liberating

the children of God - that was the service, a service that sanctifies man to such an extent

that a return to sin is impossible. It was to this service that I gave pre-eminance andpeople in general had a felt-experience.

Though many people have experienced physical healing, it was not those healings

per se that drew them close to Jesus. It was the sanctification they received and anoint-

ment of the Holy Spirit that

encouraged them to lead a

life of holiness. Physical

healings need not necessarily

be premanent. But for a per-

son who lives the word of

God his inner sanctification

will be durable. Sanctifica-

tion and anointment of the

Holy Spirt - they are the

strength and unity of Spirit

in Jesus.

This Jubilee Year we

need to dedicate to God nu-merous children who are

holy. In this world of sin

each one of us shall trans-

form to be the real light of

Jesus and thus enlighten the

world. Every child of Spirit

in Jesus shall lead a life based

on the word of God. We do

not at all compromise withthe world. “Do not love the

world or the things in the

world. The love of the Fa-

ther is not in those who love

the world” (I Jn 2:15). Keep

in mind this word. Jesus

Christ who lived in this

world and defeated it is here before

us. The Holy Spirit which Jesus gave

us will strengthen us.

Be united with Jesus. Every-

one who obeys the word of God isin union with Jesus. A passage in the

Book of Job is heart-touching. Job

has passed through severe pain. Even

while enduring them Job said: “My

foot has held fast to his steps; I have

kept his way and have not turned

aside. I have not departed from the

commandment of his lips; I have

treasured in my bosom the words of his mouth'' (Job 23:11-12). Job knew

and discerned the footsteps of God

even in his distress. It was for that

reason that he held his foot fast to the

steps of God. Thus he walked on the

lines drawn by God. He never fal-

tered. In order not to falter he never

faltered from the commandments of

God. In order not to falter from thecommandments he kept the word of

God in his heart like a treasure.

The footsteps of God that Job

found out are the words of God.

Those who keep the word of God

have their foot on the footsteps of

God. Man shall keep the word of

God in his heart like a treasure. God

will transform his life into one of

blessing. Job became blessed once the

period of his test was over.

God led Spirit in Jesus

through paths of great sorrows. He

leads us through such miseries which

many other evangelists have never ex-

perienced. But even while enduring

them the Spirit of God strengthens us to listen tothe voice of God and live accordingly. Beyond the

sorrows of today a great glory of God awaits us.

Let the year 2013 be an year of empowerment. We

shall achieve the in-filling of the Holy Spirit

through fervent prayers.

Our hearts shall not get hardened in this

period of test. Stand firm by the word of God.

Do not panic when you hear “Messiah is here,

Messiah is there”, as Jesus said. One who has apersonal relation with the Lord will never fail.

We shall strive to possess the blessings

which God has reserved for us. I pray and wish

that every day of 2013 be a day of blessing. Wish-

ing you all the blessings.

Tom Zacharia, Chief Editor.

Liberation of the im- prisoned

Jesus came also to set free

those who are in prison. “To

open the eyes that are blind,

to bring out the prisoners

from the dungeon, from the

prison those who sit in dark-

ness” (Is 42.1). Which is that

prison? Where is it? Who has

authority over it? Who arethose imprisoned there?

Scholars of the Bible do not

give a clear answer to the

above questions. Even the

meaning given to the word

‘imprisoned’ is not clear.

Some even say that “this is a

reference to those who may

 be imprisoned because of

debts. Jesus will address

words to those who may be

responsible for each impris-

onment”. (reference to Luke

6:35,37. The New Jerome

Biblical Commantary 43:59).

Certain others argue that

Jesus has been saying “com-

Salvation of All Souls(A theologian of the Catholic Church)

forting words” to the poor, the persecuted,

the imprisoned and the blind who lived dur-

ing his time (cf. The international Bible

Commentary T.P.I,Bangalore,2004 p.1456).

Jesus was not a social reformer. And his

tachings were not on the fundamental

changes required for the then prevailing so-

cial set up; on the contrary he has been

preaching and working for the physical,

mental and spiritual good of man. It is ar-

gued that the extent to which one should

spiritualize the references here to the poor,

the captives, the blind and the oppressed is

a vexing problem. The captives and theoppressed are not mentioned again and ‘no

specific ministry to them is recorded’ (Word

Biblical Commentory, John Nolland, Luke

1-9;20; Vol 35a Word Books Publisher,

U.S.A 1969,p.197).

To “free the oppressed” means the spiri-

tual freedom that Jesus gave to man, it is

the freedom from the dominion of sin and

Satan. In fact St.Paul has been referring to

this aspect while proclaiming on the resur-

rection of Jesus (Acts 10:38), argues

Leopold Sabourin SJ, a theologian. (The

Gospel according to St.Luke, St.Paul Pub-

lications, Indian Edition, Bombay, 1984,

P.137; Also cf.Word Biblical Commentary,

Isaiah 34-66, John D.W. Watts,

Vol.25,1987,P.303).

Who lives in the Shadow of death?

Words in Luke 1:79 and Mathew 4:16

help us to identify the persons who live in

prison. They reveal the salvation promised

to a particular category of people at the

coming of Jesus, the Savior. St.Mathew puts

it thus:

“The people who sat in darkness have

seen a great light, and for those who sat in

the region and shadow of death light has

dawned” (Mt 4:16).

Scholars of the Bible are not clear on

these words as well. On the section “the

people who sat in darkness” some scholars

interpret it as referring to Jews who were

oppressed variously in those times; in fact

nothing is said about people “who sat in the

region and shadow of death” (Word Bibli-

cal Commentary Mt 4:15-16,p.71).

However, Leopold Sabourin argues that

the first part of Mt 4:16 refers to theMessaianic salvation which God has spo-

ken through prophet Isaiah several times,

Testimony“In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my

God I cried for help. From his temple he heard

my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears’’

(Ps18:6)

My name is Shyni. For over a pe-

riod of seven years I was ailing from se-

vere headache and shoulder pain. I was

healed of this distress during the Spirit in

Jesus retreat conducted at Erumeli in April

2012. Even during the day time sessions, I

couldn’t but sleep. While Bro. Tom

preached the word of God, I found my-

self unable to stay awake. Then he told ev-

erybody to stand up and praise the Lord. I

did so during which a powerful ball of light

descended into my heart and at the same

instant I fell down. Since that time I am

free from daytime sleeping and thence I

could engross in hearing the word of God

more effectively. Praise the Lord!

and “the shadow of death” in Lk 1:79

is verbatim translation of the Hebrew

word “tsalma wet” meaning thick dark-

ness (The Gospel according to St.

Mathew, vol,I page 307; The Gospel

according to St.Luke, p.84).

Slaves who fear death

To understand the identity of those

‘who sat in the region and shadow of

death’, Hebrews 2:15 is useful i.e:

“through death he might destroy the

one who has the power of death, that

is, the devil, and free those who all their lives were

held in slavery by the fear of death”. It amply

reveals the purpose of the crucifixion, death and

resurrection of Jesus. No one gives a clear an-

swer to questions as to “who were the people held

in slavery by the fear of death”, where were theyheld captives, and how Jesus rescued them. Some

people argue that fear of death has been univer-

sal phenomenon that existed at all times and

Jesus, by his death, removed this fear (Sacra

Pagina, Hebrews, Alan C Mitchell, 1989, p.75).

Fear of death, mentioned in Heb 2:15 indi-

cates neither the fear of natural death nor deliv-

erance from the same. Death is the fruit of sin.

It is more than a corporal sin; it is the last enemy

to be destroyed (1 Cor 15:26) by Jesus, argue cer-

tain theologians (The New Jerome Biblical Com-

mentary, Hebrews, 60:18).

The dead who hear the voice of the Sonof God

We shall now listen to

what the Holy Spirit teaches

on the above questions for

which definite answers have

not yet been obtained. The

redemption plan that in-

cludes the birth, death and

resurrection of Jesus is

meant for all, from Adam

onwards. His teachings andworks are eternal as well. If

so his words too are meant

for all from Adam to the last

person on earth. They have

to hear those words and be-

lieve in him, for, it is expe-

dient to eternal salvation.

(Jn 5:24;3:16-18;14:6).

Therefore, the message pro-

Page 11: Holy Queen Magazine - Feb 2013

claiming the salvation mission of Jesus (Lk

4:18-19) was meant for those who were liv-

ing at that time and yet to live, for the ones

who were saved and sitting in the bosom of

Abraham (Lk 16:19-31), and for the dead

and damned under the dominion of Satanin hell. Though the people who lived prior

to the time of Jesus were dead in body, they

were living before God (Lk 20:38;Mk 12:27).

“Very truly, I tell you, the hour is coming,

and is now here, when the dead will hear

the voice of the Son of God, and those who

hear will live” (Jn 5:25). He revealed this

truth by raising Lazar and many others (Lk

11:1-44).

Those who saw the light of theSon of Man

The dead, prior to hearing the voice of

Jesus, saw the light of the salvation which

he was going to give, at the very instant he

was born. In fact it is this truth that Lk 1:79

and Mt 4:16 reveal and which we have been

trying to comprehend. Those who were sit-ting in the region and shadow of death were

not those who were resting in Abraham’s bo-

som after death. On the contrary they were

those who got damned after death and got

trapped in the clutches of Satan. He has

imprisoned them. They are shackled and in

darkness. With the birth of Jesus the light

of salvation beamed on them.

Since the children of God disobeyed the

words of God and rejected his counsel they

became bound and oppressed and pushed

to the region and shadow of death (Ps

107:10-11). In fact much before the advent

of Jesus, God had revealed through King

David :

“He looked down from his Holy height,

from the heaven the Lord looked at the

earth,

to hear the groans of the prisoners,to set free those who were doomed to

die” (Ps 102:19-20;107:14).

Hope to those who lived in thefear of death.

Prior to the advent of Jesus those who

were chained in the prison of Satan were in

the region and shadow of death. An expla-

nation of this word is given in Hebrews 2:15.They were living in the fear of death. But

what sort of fear of death they had ? Were

they not dead in body already ? The fear of

death they faced is not the death or fear of

death that we find in ordinary life. What they

“...the Lord is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him’’ (Ps 92:15)

My name is Jose. For several months, a grave physical pain specially on myarms and legs was tormenting me, resulting in sleepless nights. Whether in a straight

position or not I was unable to sleep well. But the Lord rendered his healing hand

towards me on the third day while attending the retreat conducted by Spirit in Jesus

ministry at Erumeli in April 2012. The annointing of the Holy Spirit which I experi-

enced in this particular retreat was entirely powerful compared to the prior experi-

ences.

feared in fact, was eternal damnation - being thrown

into eternal fire as slaves of Satan. That is the second

death. And that happens after the Final Judgement.

On this we read in the Book of Revelation: “And the

sea gave up the dead that were in it, Death and Hades

gave up the dead that were in them, and all were judged

according to what they had done. Then Death and

Hades were thrown into the lake

of fire. This is the second death,

the lake of fire; and anyone whose

name was not found written in the

book of life was thrown into the

lake of fire. ” (Rev 20:13-15).Those who were in hell as slaves

of Satan prior to the advent of

Jesus were, in fact, living in this

fear. They had no hope at all about

salvation. And therefore, they

were in darkness. But at the very

instant when Jesus was born the

light of Salvation shone on them,

they saw it as well (Lk 1:79; Mt

4:16).

Jesus who opens andcloses prisons for eternity

It was in his prison that Satan

chained the children of God. See-

ing their plight God asks: “Now

therefore what am I doing here, says the Lord, seeing that my

people are taken away without

cause “ (Is 52:5). “Is my hand

shortened, that it cannot redeem?

Or have I no power to deliver ? (Is

50:2)

am He; there is no one who can deliver

from my hand; I work and who can hinder

it ? (Is 43:13; also refer 49:24-36)

The doors of the prison in which Sa-

tan has chained his slaves were made of

bronze and their bars were of iron. It was

about the Saviour who was to break them

that God spoke through prophet Isaiah:

“I will go before you and level the

mountains, I will break in pieces the doors

of bronze and cut through the bars of iron

(Is 45:2). Satan had locked the prison doors

in such a way that no one could open them.

However, with the keys of authority thatJesus obtained through his death and res-

urrection (“the keys of Death and of Ha-

des” Rev 1:18), He opened the prison which

no one will shut (Rev 3:7) and will shut the

eternal lake of fire which no one will open

(Rev 3:7).

Salvation of all souls from

Adam onwardsQuoting Hebrews 2:15 the Church au-

thorities teach: “ Christ went down into the

depths of death so that “the dead will hear

the voice of the son of God, and those who

hear will live. Jesus, “the Author of life",

by dying, destroyed him who has the power

of death, that is, the devil, and (delivered)

all those who through fear of death were

subject to lifelong bondage” (ccc 635). Thesubsequent section teaches that Jesus de-

scended into hell and saved Adam and Eve

who were in bondage.

If Jesus did save Adam and Eve from

hell, would he not save others also ? Since

he is just he saved all who heard his word

and belived in Him. It is this truth that

St.Paul teaches: “When he ascended on

high he made captivity itself a captive; he

gave gifts to his people” (Eph 4:8). Jesus

descended into hell and proclaimed the word

of God to souls in prison. Thus the word

“the hour is now here, when the dead will

hear the voice of the son of God” (Jn 5:25)

was fulfilled. The fulfilment of the word “the

hour is coming when the dead will hear the

voice of the son of God” (Jn 5:25) is being

fulfilled through Spirit in Jesus in these days.

They believe and proclaim only those truths

laid down in ccc 635-636. Through the in-

tercession of Holy Mary we shall pray that

everyone shall accept the teaching of the

Catholic Church and pray and atone for the

sins of the damned ancestors.

Faith is not a wish to believe or

a will to believe something contrary to

reason. Faith is not living as if some-

thing were true. Faith is the acceptance of a truth based on the authority of

God’s revelation, as manifested in the

church and in scripture. God alone

causes faith in the believer, and faith is

not the acceptance of abstract ideas. It

is so often said, “Oh by faith you have

to accept a number of dogmas” No!

Faith is participation in the life of God.

In faith, two persons meet: God and

ourselves. Our affirmation of faith does

not come because we see a truth very

clearly. But it comes from the vision of

him who reveals that truth - and we

know that he cannot deceive nor be de-

ceived.

Wisdom Became Flesh

Holy Mary and the Holy Spirit

From the word of God when we come to know that Holy Mary is wisdom

incarnate then a doubt may arise in us: Does it mean that Mary possesses the same

status of God Almighty? In other words, the statement that Mary is wisdom, is it

equivalent to stating that Mary is God? When God created man, he gave him not only

his own image and likeness, but also his own spirit - his breath, i.e., life. To put up a

claim therefore, that man is God is superfluous. Similarly, as one receives the Spirit of

God, i.e. the Holy Spirit, one does not become God.

Jesus says : “If those to whom the

word of God came were called “gods”—and

the scripture cannot be annulled...” (Jn 10.35).

No one will become God only because he re-

ceived the word of God, but he has the im-

age of God. That is, he gets sanctified by the

word of God and grows in the nature of God.

Though Mary is wisdom incarnate,

she would never become God. Mary said,

“Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be

with me according to your word”. Here

Mary revealed that she is only a servant of

the Lord. “For he has looked with favor on

the lowliness of his servant” (Luke 1:48). HolyMary never exalted herself, but humbled her-

self as a lowly servant of God. During the

wedding feast at Cana when the wine gave

out, what did Mary say to the servants even

while informing Jesus of the same? “Do what-

ever he tells you” (John 2:5). She converted

herself as a servant and always took care to

glorify God. There are many priests in the

Church who beleive that the Church will de-clare Mary as co-redeemer. Many think so

because she has a very prominent status in

God’s redemption plan. Even from the early

times an allegation has been extend that as

devotion to Mary increased there has been a

tendency to deify her. O, how much God val-

ues virgin Mary since she made God’s plan

successful without a fault and gave his son to

the world ! O, how much God wishes to exalther!

If the Holy Spirit has found joy in any

human being in the world that is in Holy

Mary only, because she did not grieve the

Holy Spirit; instead she loved and respected

the Holy Spirit. The intensity of love and re-

spect that Mary had towards the Holy Spirit

trancended those of the prophets, apostles and

saints. Ipso facto the Holy Spirit loved

Holy Mary very much and found joy in

dwelling in her.

When did Holy Mary receive the

Holy Spirit? Nowhere in the Bible is such

and incident mentioned. When Jesus got

baptised in the river Jordan, Holy Spirit

came on him (Mt 3:16). But when did the

Holy Spirit come on Mary? When angel

Gabriel visited Mary he said, “Do not be

afraid, Mary, for you have found favour

with God. And now you will conceive in

your womb and bear a son and you will

name him Jesus” (Lk 1:30,31). Then Mary

said to the angel, “How can this be, since I

am a virgin ?” The Angel then said to her,

“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and

Page 16: Holy Queen Magazine - Feb 2013

the power of the Most High will

overshadow you’’ (Lk 1:34,35). Then

Mary answered, “Here am I, the ser-

vant of the Lord, let it be with me

according to your word’’ (Lk 1:38).

The moment Mary received

the word of God and surrendered

herself saying, “Here am I, the ser-

vant of the Lord, let it be with me

according to your word’’, we can

legitimatly believe that the Holy Spirit

came upon her. By the power of the

Holy Spirit which came upon her the

word of God which Mary receivedin her heart became flesh in her

womb. Hallelujah! The word of God

and the Holy Spirit received by Holy

Mary were two cumulative treasures

to her. Mary safeguarded the word

of God without sustaining any stain

or blemish, and loved it.

Mary never gave any pain to

the Holy Spirit or grieved it or neutralised it; instead she became

strong in spirit and loved and pro-

tected the Holy Spirit.

Mary was convinced that what

she received was the Spirit of the

Holy God and that it shall not be

grieved and therefore she did not

grieve the Holy Spirit by any word, deed or thought. Instead Mary nour-

ished the Holy Spirit by her prayer,

fasting and virtuous deeds and made

it strong and healthy.

In those days when the Bible

was not available to all, and when

there were no sacraments, it is amaz-

ing that Mary became the power

house of the Holy Spirit. Today the Bible is avail-

able to all. There are ample facilities to read, hear

and meditate the word of God. Sacraments which

enrich the soul are available in abundance. Yet

christians seldom get renewed or filled with the Holy

Spirit. Why does this happen? Mary who had none

of these was strong and rich in spirit.

Anointment that proceeded from Mary

The visit of Mary to the house of Elizabeth

is an incident which reveals how powerful was the

Holy Spirit that dwelled in Mary. After receiving

the word of God from Angel Garbriel and getting

filled with the Holy Spirit, Mary proceeded to visit

her aunt Elizabeth. “In those days Mary set out and

went with haste to a Judean town in the hill coun-

try, where she entered the house of

Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When

Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child

leapt in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled

with the Holy Spirit and exclaimed with a

loud cry, ‘Blessed are you among women,

and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And

why has this happened to me, that the

mother of my Lord comes to me?”(Lk1:39-

43 ).

I consider this incident as a great

miracle. Mary was neither an evangelist nor

a miracle worker. She was much above

them. Another lady whom she meets andgreets gets filled with Holy Spirit. It is a great

miracle indeed! Even though Mary was not

known as a miracle worker she performed

the greatest of miracles. There are so many

preachers and priests all over the world.

When one of them greets another person,

does the Holy Spirit proceed from him ?

Does the listeners get an infilling, or even a

touch of the Holy Spirit ? But when Marygreeted a great power proceeded from her.

Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

The child in her womb leaped with joy.

About twenty years back while I was

meditating on this incident, a question arose

in my mind. What was the word that Mary

used to greet Elizabeth ? It is not mentioned

in the Bible. The only mention is that Mary

greeted Elizabeth. I asked Jesus: Lord,

What were the words that mother uttered

to greet Elizabeth ? There was no answer.

Every morning during my personal prayer

I used to ask this question. And there had

been no answer. I repeated this question for

a long time. One day the Lord asked me a

counter question: “How did you greet

people after your first Charismatic retreat”?

Immediately I answered, “Praise the Lord”.

At once a reply came from the Lord,’ Marygreeted Elizabeth with the word Hallelujah’.

‘Hallelujah’ is a Hebrew word :

Hallelu-jah. Hallelu = Praise, jah = yahweh:

Praise to Yahweh. Its Engish translation is

“Praise the Lord”. When Mary visited Eliza-

beth she greeted her with the word ‘Hallelu-

jah'. That is a word of God. The Holy Spirit

ushered into Elizabeth through that word the

moment she heard it. Sometime during 1994-

95, the Charismatic convention of Idukki

Zone was taking place at Puliyanmala,

Idukki district. The Chief guest of the con-

vention was the National Chariman of the

Charismatic movement, Fr.Thamburaj. At

that time he was the principal of Loyola

College, Madras. I was also there to receive

and bring him from Kottayam Railway Sta-

tion to the convention place. We were travel-

ling by a vehicle of Bro.Jose Vattakuzhy who

hailed from Idukki District. On the way I

asked the priest for permission to raise a

doubt. Actually I was afraid of asking a doubt

to such a great personality, though I was very

happy and pround to be with such a great

dignitary. But he was very loving and humble

and I appreciated him very much, though

Page 18: Holy Queen Magazine - Feb 2013

that was first encounter. Later he visited my house

twice and stayed with me briefly.

When I requested permission to raise a

doubt, he permitted. My doubt was this: What was

the word used by Mary to greet Elizabeth ? Theanswer given by the Lord was there in my mind. It

was a great joy to my mind. I wanted to share it

with such a great person - that was my intention.

After hearing my question he pondered over it for

a while and replied: ‘the word Mary used was

‘Assalamu Alaikum’. When I heard it I felt dis-

heartened. Oh God, is the answer

the Lord gave me wrong? Then I

asked, ‘What does it mean?’ He re-plied: ‘May God bless you’. It is a

word used by the people of the

world especially Muslims to greet

each other. When I meet a person

of a Charismatic group I greet him

saying ‘Praise the Lord’; when I

meet a lay person I say ‘Good

Morning’. But the word used by

Mary was not that.

Then I shared my experience

and revelation from God with the

priest. In great joy he shook my

hands and praised God though I

was doubtful and fearful about his

appreciation of my experience.

But during his preaching in

the convention he proclaimed thatMary greeted Elizabeth with the

word ‘Hallelujah’. I felt very happy. A re-

puted priest has proclaimed something re-

vealed by a lay person in a public meeting -

it was wonderful. He was a great devotee of

Holy Mary. The Holy Spirit had given him

an open mind to accept the truth.

It was the anointment that proceeded from Mary that filled Elizabeth and the

child in her womb. That reveals the great relation of the Holy Spirit with Holy Mary.

This provides the best evidence that Holy Mary is divine wisdom. Also this was the

fulfillment of the word spoken by Gabriel to Zacharia that John would be filled with

Holy Spirit in the womb of his mother itself, and that the power of prophet Elijah would

work in him (Lk 1:15-17).

God pours out his Holy Spirit on man in two ways. One, God directly anoints his

servants with the Holy Spirit. In Jesus, Mary, the apostles and the prophets, the Spirit of

God directly came from the Father and anointed them. Two, through the laying of hands,

prayer and preaching by the persons anointed by God. But if the vessels anointed by God

are empty and unworthy the power of the Spirit will not emanate from them. Jesus said:

“As the scripture has said, “out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water"

(Jn 7:38).“While Peter was still speaking , the Holy Spirit fell upon

all who heard the word’’ (Acts 10:44). This anointment wasmeant for the multitude. And that came from heaven. This hap-

pened because Peter had the infilling of the Holy Spirit. People

got healed when the shadow of Peter fell on them. They brought

people to the streets and laid them on mats and cots. While Peter

was passing by, people wished that at least his shadow might fall

on them (Acts 5:15). The shadow of Peter was the power of the

Holy Spirit that emanated from Peter.

It was the anointment in Mary that ushered into John,

the child in the womb. That anointment made John a prophet

and filled him with the power of Elijah. Mary who was filled

with the anointment of a prophet and the power of Elijah was

no ordinary woman. All these happened because she was the

Wisdom of God. In the scripture it is said of wisdom, “Although

she is but one, she can do all things, and while remaining in her-

self , she renews; In every generation she passes into Holy souls

and makes them friends of God, and prophets’’ (Wis 7:27).

Wisdom entered into the soul of John who was the holysoul of his generation and made him God’s friend and prophet.

This happened through Mary who was the incarnated wisdom

of God. These signs and words are clear evidence to the fact

that wisdom and Holy Mary is one person. It was the power of

the Holy Spirit that dwelled in Mary which entered into John.

Holy Mary was the most suitable vessel of the Holy Spirit.

Halleujah ! Mary is the incarnated wisdom of God.

at the top of the list this time also.

When I glanced through the list of

the wealthy for the last year and found these

names again, a question arose in my mind.

How do they retain their place in the list of the wealthy even after spending so much

amount on charity? Should not their wealth

have diminished ? Each one should make a

soul search. Am I giving from my posses-

sions in such a way that it does not affect

my wealth ? Or is it because God is giving

bountifully to those who give ? The truth

may be that both those who give and those

who do not give do not want their wealth todiminish.

Once I happened to be at the Majes-

tic Bus Station at Bangalore. It was 2 o’clock

in the afternoon. I was very hungry and had

some meals from the wayside cafetaria

which cost me thirty rupees. A boy of about

ten years from the street came there begging

for food. His gestures and pitiable

appearence went unheared. His eyes were

on me now. He was asking for the leftover

of the food which I had only half finished.

I thought it was bad giving him my left-

overs. Therefore I thought that I shall give

him some money so that he can have food

with that money. I had small denomina-

tion notes worth rupees thirty with me. At

least thirty rupees was required for a square

meal. If I give the whole amount of rupees

thirty, I may not have any small denomina-

tion currency for my bus journey. Withhold-

ing rupees ten with me I gave him rupees

twenty. The beholders and myself felt like I

had done some remarkably good thing.

During my return journey the Holy

Spirit reminded me of it. Could he have

enough food with the twenty rupees I gave

him ? Had I given him ten rupees more, he

could have had a full meal. I could have

given a hundred rupee note in the bus; but I

gave more importance to my selfish inter-

est. Was it because of empathy for him that

I helped him? Was there any great sincerity

in my action? It was no great thing to part

with rupees thirty from the thousands I had

with me. Then it would have been of great

value to him. Does it please the Lord that I

gave him twenty rupees ? At the moment of

the final judgement will Lord Jesus tell me

“I tell you, when you did this for one of the

least important of these brothers of mine,

you did it for me” (Mathew 25:40)? If this

is the kind of charity we have the chance is

quite bleak.

Dear friends, ponder over and find

how our love of God and love for men are.

Holiness does not consist in doing ex-traordinary things. It consists in ac-cepting and following the will of God

Holiness is not the luxury of a few. It is everyone’s duty : yours and mine.

In order to be saints, you have to se-riously want to be one.

Our willingness is important be-cause it changes us into the image of  God and likens us to him! The deci- sion to be holy is a very dear one.

Renunciation, temptations, struggles, persecutions, and all kinds of sacrifices are what surround the  soul that has opted for holiness.

Is it possible for us to share selflessly?. The

wealth of one of the most rich of the world

can wipe out poverty from a whole impov-

erished nation. The wealth of a few of themost rich can wipe out poverty from the

entire world. Still crores of people are in

poverty today. Modern human being of the

21st century has lost love of God and love

for man. Men have become more like the

richman and Lazarus of the famous par-

able that Jesus told. A few of us live in luxury.

They strive to increase their riches. At the

other end there is poverty, disease, tears and

despair. Life to many people is a fight for

survival; for some others it is a fight for sa-

tiating their greed.

We like no harm to occur to us and

our material possessions. Myself and my

family, my preferences, my health, my

wealth, for me and my family alone. ‘I am

not one to interfere in their affairs, their

problems are of their own making’ - this is

the excuse we cite to evade the poor and

the wretched. Fellowship is lost from the so-

ciety. Today’s families are like islands. They

have no connections with others. If at allthere is any, it is one of competition and

upmanship. The intensity of fellowhip and

selflessness of the early church has got di-

luted to such an extent that today we have

become strangers to our own brethren.

“The group of believers was one in

mind and heart. No one said that any of

his belongings was his own, but they allshared with one another everything they

had” (Acts 4:32). People amass wealth in a

competitive spirit. It is not for one’s require-

ments but to be one step ahead of others in

the matter of wealth that they strive. How

can such people have the mind set to give?

“Don’t do anything from selfish ambition

or from a cheap desire to boast, but be

humble towards one another, always con-sidering others better than yourselves. And

look out for one another’s interests, not just

your own. The attitude you should have is

the one that Christ Jesus had” (Philipians

2:3-5).

It is the seventh commandment of

the Lord - “Do not steal” - which is vio-

lated when eyes are closed towards the needs

Page 23: Holy Queen Magazine - Feb 2013

7/30/2019 Holy Queen Magazine - Feb 2013

of the brethren. “If a rich person sees his

brother in need, yet closes his heart against

his brother, how can he claim that he loves

God” (1 John 3:17). When we turn our face

away from the needy we are unjustly hold-

ing back our wealth which he too is entitled

to. Thus it becomes stealing. It is God’s will

that this commandment is obeyed. That is

why the Lord through Moses commands

the Israelites to give one tenth of their in-

come to the Lord (Levi 27:30-32). Jews, es-

pecially the Pharisees, tactfully utilized the

loopholes in the laws for their selfish ends.

Still they boasted that they were completein their obedience to the laws. Jesus told

them unmasking their selfishness: “Woe to

you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For

you tithe mint, dill, and cummin, and have

neglected the weightier matters of the law:

justice and mercy and faith. It is these you

ought to have practised without neglecting

the others.” (Mathew 23:23).

God’s will regarding us is that we

should not merely abide by the laws me-

chanically for its own sake, but should work

selflessly for the growth of the kingdom of

God and the welfare of our brethren. “Each

man is to bring, a gift as he is able, in pro-

portion to the blessing that the Lord your

God has given him” (Deut 16:17). The giver,

it is to be understood, loves God and the brethren more than his wealth. Love and

compassion for the brethren cements one’s

relation with the Lord. People mostly love

and adore the God-given wealth, and not

the giver which God is. “As for those who

in the present age are rich, command them

not to be haughty, or to set their hopes on

the uncertainty of riches, but rather on God

who richly provides us with everything for

our enjoyment. They are to do good, to be

rich in good works, generous, and ready to

share, thus storing up for themselves the

treasure of a good foundation for the fu-

ture, so that they may take hold of the life

that really is life’’ (1 Thimo 6:17-19).

Not only regarding material wealth,

it should be possible for us to give and share

ourselves completely in all respects. It may

not always be money; may be a merciful

word, nearness or a loving glance that may

be needed. It may have more value than

money. “Whenever you possibly can do

good to those who need it, never tell your

neighbour to wait till tomorrow. If you can,

help him now” (Proverb 3:27). All that we

have are bounties given by the Lord. Gifts

given by the Lord, both spiritual and mate-

rial, are to be shared. A loving smile may

radiate its light in one’s life for a whole day.

A word of compassion may save a man

from death. Even a little may be enough for

the needy.’A little of ours may be abudant

for him. Howsoever rich one may be, if he

is not able to share with others, he is in real-

ity only a poor man. Idle money in hand

does not have any value, but when it is put

to use it acquires value. Likewise when one’s

God-given graces and capabilities are uti-

lized their value is enhanced. When another

life is made joyful our joy is doubled. When

we console a person our own problems areforgotten. We are doubly consoled.

If we patienly lend our ears to a fel-

low being in agony the Lord will help us in

the moment of our tears. “When you give

to the poor it is like lending to the Lord and

the Lord will pay you back” (Proverb 19:17).

The life of the one who shares his goodness

is filled with goodness. Evil increases in thelife of one who shares his evil with others.

When we give, God sees to it that what we

have is not diminished and our require-

ments are fulfilled. “And with his abundant

wealth through Chirst Jesus my God will

supply all your needs” (Phili 4:19).

“The axe is ready to cut down the

trees at the roots; every tree that does not

bear good fruits will be cut down and thrown

in the fire. The people asked him. What are

we to do then? He answered, whoever has

two shirts must give one to the man who

has none, and whoever has food must share

it” (Luke 3:9-11). Through John the Baptist

the word of the Lord reminds us to part with

not just one tenth but even one half if needs

be. Giving away his own life for us Jesus

Christ taught us the necessity for giving our-

selves completely. Lord Jesus has called upon

us to be in the path of service without mea-

sure, limitations and selfishness.

Let it be possible for us to give our-

selves wholly to the Lord and our brethren.

Let us rejoice over it. “The people had given

willingly to the Lord and they were happy

that so much had been given” ( 1 Chron

29:9). Have you been able to rejoice that you

have promoted the growth of the kingdom

of God or the upliftment of your brother in

distress? How can anyone rejoice from self-

ish acts ? One should be thankful to God for

giving an opportunity to help someone.

These are given by God because of His love

for us. We should thirst for getting the grace

to give. It should be like a mother feeding

her child even when she is starving. The self-

ish settings like ‘me’, ‘mine’ etc have to be

shed. It is the love of God the Father who

because of his love for us has given his only

begotten son. We have to repay Him that

love. Sure, God will bless us. “Some people

spend their money freely and still grow

richer; others are cautious and yet grow

poorer “ (Pro 11:24).

The Holy Mother yielded herself

wholly, submitting to God’s plan for the re-

demption of humanity. Let her life be our

role model. We can walk in her footsteps

both in the love of God and our love for the

brethren. O, Mother of perpetual help, teach

us to share among ourselves and to give our-

selves to the Lord.

Hallelujah!

Consecrated to God from her earliest years,

St Agatha came from a rich and illustrious family of

Catania (Italy). Quintain, a man of Consular dig-

nity but evil intent, became enamoured of her and

desired to marry her. Upon her refusal to give in to

his evil designs, Quintain had her brought before

him by means of the emperor’s edict against Chris-

tians. He ordered her to be taken to a brothel where she suffered assaults and strata-

gems upon her honour more terrible than torture or death itself.

Undaunted, she boldly declared that Jesus Christ was her light and salvation.

As a result, she was scourged, her flesh torn with iron hooks, her breasts chiselled

out, her sides lacerated and scorched with fiery metal. Furthermore, he remanded

her to a dungeon of a prison, denying her the benefit of both food and medical care.

But God was merciful to her - St Peter appeared to her in a vision, and consoled and

healed her.

Brought a second time before Quintain, she again remained inflexibily con-

stant in her faith and sacred vow. She was then ordered to be dragged naked over

burning coals mixed with potsherds. An earthquake took place at the time of this

second torture, forcing Quintain to flee from the town in terror. The following night, 5

February 251, Agatha breathed her last, uttering: “Lord, my Creator, from the cradle

you have always protected me; you have taken me from the love of the world and

given me patience to suffer. Receive now my soul!’’

St. Agatha gave herself without reserve to Jesus Christ; she followed him invirginal purity, and then looked to him for protection. And down to this day Christ has

shown his tender regard for her mortal remains - again and again, during the eruptions

of Mount Etna, the people of Catania have exposed her veil for public veneration and

thus experienced safety; in modern times, on opening her tomb in which her body lies

waiting for the resurrection, her skin has been found to be intact, a sweet fragrance

emanating from this temple of the Holy Spirit.

ST. MICHAEL:

MESSENGER OF TRUTHJoseph Marian Varghese

“At that time Michael, the great

prince, the protector of your people, shall

arise. There shall be a time of anguish,

such as has never occurred since nations

first came into existence. But at that time

your people shall be delivered, everyone

who is found written in the book” (Daniel

12:1).

The name of the Prince of the

Heavenly Host is mentioned five times

in the scripture. In the Old Testament,

his name appears three times in the book of Daniel. In the New Testament the

archangel is mentioned briefly in the

epistle of St.Jude. In the book of Rev-

elation we are told of his strength and

his military victory against the ancient

serpent and his followers “And war broke

out in heaven; Michael and his angels

fought against the dragon. The dragon

and his angels fought back, but they were

defeated, and there was no longer any

place for them in heaven. The great

dragon was thrown down, that ancient

serpent, who is called the Devil and Sa-

tan, the deceiver of the whole world - he

was thrown down to the earth, and his

angels were thrown down with him” (Rev

12:7-9).

His name, from the Hebrew

‘Mikha’el’ - meaning “Who is like God ?” -

was the war cry of the good angels, in the

battle fought in Heaven against the rebellious

angels. In the light of the word of God in

Daniel 12:1, we are sure that Archangel

Michael is entrusted with a unique and spe-

cial role in the salvation of mankind. Private

revelations inspired by Holy Spirit also call

for a more meaningful and ardent devotion

to St. Michael than ever before.

Because of the vision in Revelations

12:7-9, Archangel Michael has always been

known as the great defender of the Churchand as the arch-enemy of the devil. It was in

this capacity that St.Michael was called upon

by Pope Leo XIII to protect the people of

the Church after he mystically heard the ter-

rifying threats of the devil. As a result of this

experience that took place on October

13,1884, the Pope composed the following

prayer that was recited after all Low Masses

throughout the world:

“St.Michael the Archangel, defend us

in battle, be our safeguard against the wick-

edness and snares of the devil. May God re-

buke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O

Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power

of God, cast in to hell, Satan and the other

evil spiritis who prowl about the world for

the ruin of souls, Amen.”

This prayer accompanied by three

Hail Marys and other prayers, is recited af-

ter Low Masses in the traditional Latin Mass.

It is still regarded as the most popular prayer

ever to the archangel. According to St. Tho-

mas Aquinas, St.Michael is the breath of the

Redeemer’spirit who will at the end of the

world, combat and destroy Antichrist, as

he did the ancient serpent earlier. Accord-

ing to many Doctors of the Church, it was

Archangel Michael who performed many

services in scripture for which his name is

not mentioned. Regarded as the guardian

angel of the Israelites, it is believed thatSt.Michael was the angel mentioned in the

book of Exodus chapters 14 Verse 19, 23:20-

21 and 23:23. It is believed that St.Michael

stood in the way against Balaam (Num

22:22). St. Michael is also thought to have

slain the army of the Assyrians: “And it

came to pass that night, that an angel of

the Lord came, and slew in the camp of

Page 28: Holy Queen Magazine - Feb 2013

the Assyrians a hundred and eighty-five

thousand” (2 Kings 19:35). Because of these

exploits, Christian tradition gives to

St.Michael four offices 1) to fight against

Satan; 2) to rescue the souls of the faithful

from the power of the devil, especially at

the hour of death; 3) to attend the dying

and accompany them to judgment, 4) to be

the champion of God’s people, and to serve

as the Patron of the Church. In the Book

of Joshua we read of Joshua’s reverance

and obedience to St. Michael.

Because of St. Michael’s varied ac-

tivities, it is thought by St. Basil the Great(329-379) and many of the Greek Fathers

that St. Michael is the leader or prince of

all the Angels, even of the choir of Seraphin,

which is the rank closest to God. St.

Michael, for reasons not given, was ac-

cepted in early times as a healer. Medicinal

springs at Phrygia, Chairotpa and Colossae,

where many reportedly were cured, were

said to have been established by this arch-

angel. Sanctuaries were dedicated to the

archangel. Many saints like St. Joan of Arc,

St. Paul of the Cross, St. Francis of Assissi

and St. Aubent had great devotion to St.

Michael. St. Michael is venerated in France

as the Patron Saint of mariners. The arch-

angel appeared in 708 to St. Aubert, the

Bishop of Avranches and requested that ashrine be built on what is known as Mount

- Saint - Michel, overlooking the Atlantic

Ocean. In the icone and photos St. Michael

is usually represented as an angelic warrior,

striking a victorious pose, fully armed with

sword and a shield that often bears the Latin

incription: Quis ut Deus? - “Who is like

God?”.

To St. Michael is given the distinc-

tion of being the first angel to be commemo-

rated by a liturgical feast. Observed on Sep-

tember 29, this feast was instituted to com-

memorate the consecration in the year 530

of a church near Rome. On september 29th

we celebrate jointly the feast of all Arch an-

gels. Names of other Archangels are St.

Gabriel (St.Luke 1:11) , St. Raphael (Tobith

12:15) and the other four archangels “who

stand before the Lord” are said to have the

names Uriel, Raguel, Sariel and Jeremiel.

The last mentioned four names are taken from

apocryphal works. Present day mystics likeVassula Ryden and Maureen Kayle are

blessed with the visions and apparitions of

St.Michael frequently and they have recorded

and published many messages from

St.Michael. The visions are aimed at the

shining of truth and dispelling of darkness.

Of these messages, the establishment of a

devotion to his shield of truth is very im-

“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who

build it labour in vain. Unless the Lord

guards the city, the guard keeps watch in

vain” (Ps 127:1)

My name is Philomina. I had sought

for prayer from Mariam Koodaram that we

may get a house of our own. We prayed ar-

dently for it intending to give a testimony in

‘Itha Ninte Amma’ for the greater glory of

God. As a result now we are blessed with a

house of our own in Thrissur. My heartfelt

thanks to Jesus and Holy Mary.

portant. He says “I have come to establish

in the world a devotion to my shield which

is truth itself. These times are evil. Satan is

on the prowl, trying to snatch souls from

the path of righteousness at every turn.

Therefore, Jesus has sent me with this prayer

on my lips for all mankind.” (Prayer in box.

Holy love messages, Maureen Kayle, March

14,2006)

St.Michael has also attached certain

promises to those who, with sincere hearts

seek the protection of his Shield. They are

(1) those who seek Holy Truth in decisions

will be made to see the light of truth and the

darkness of Satan’s lies, (2) The truths of

the Tradition of Faith will be revealed to

those who seek this with sincerity. The evil

of liberalism will be brought to light.(3) Sa-

tan, who opposes Holy Truth, will not be

able to penetrate the shield which

St.Michael places over hearts. His lies will

be repelled by this mighty shield.”

We all know that the condition of

the present world is very complex. Many be-

lievers are finding it very hard to discern

truth. No one can be followed blindly now.

We must, for the sake of our soul, discern

what spirit we are following, and where the

real truth lies. Satan is convoluting the truth

on every level and pushing his agendas for-

ward. So make it a habit of saying the prayer

to St. Michael composed by Pope Leo XIII

and the prayer of protection behind the

shield of truth always and try your best to

promote the devotion to St.Michael. Re-

member, those who compromise the truth

listen to Satan who is the father of lies. Com-

promise is an attempt to re-shape the truth

according to personal and hidden agendas.

The truth cannot be changed to meet per-

sonal ambitions. Rather, hearts must bemoulded in the truth.

We may therefore imitate the devo-

tion practised by St.Francis of Assisi to

Archangel Michael. Thomas of Celano, a

companion and biographer of St.Francis,

writes of the devotion “St.

Francis.............often said that the blessed

Michael should be honoured more especially

than rest of the angels, in as much as he has

the office of presenting souls to God”. The

saint also kept a feast of forty days in honour

of St.Michael between the feast of Assump-

tion and September 29. He also advised that

“Everyone should offer to God, to honour

so great a prince, some praise or some spe-

cial gift.” (Angels and Devils p.112, Joan

Carroll Cruz, TAN Books).

St. Gertrude the Great has written

about the faithful care which Angels have of

us, and how we should honour them. “As

the feast of Saint Michael approached, Saint

Gertrude prepared herself for Holy Com-

munion by meditating on the care which the

Angels had of her, by the Divine cammand,

not withstanding her unworthiness, and as

Prayer of protection behind

St.Michael’s shield of Holy Truth

“St. Micheal, you are our defender

and safeguard against evil. Place your Shield of Truth over us in the battle which Satan

wages against truth. Help us to see the righ-

teous path of Holy love. Clarify our choices

between good and evil by placing us always

behind your Shield of Truth. Amen.”

Word as God and God as Word,.

this is Christian faith. By this faith spiritual

life, death and attainment of heaven is in-

herent in any individual. Jesus was born as

the light of the world, lived, died on the

cross, resurrected and ascended into heaven.

In the end times he will come back for the

final judgement. This is our faith. Jesus knew

exactly from where he came and to where

he was going. So all that Jesus says is truth.

Jesus is truth. Therefore by believing in Jesus,

believers believe in truth. Jesus has com-

manded, “I am the resurrection and life”.

For the overall welfare of man he com-

manded as a directive, “Obey your God the

Lord with all your heart, all your soul, and

all your strength”. God Jesus is not demand-

ing just superficial love from us. This is the

command given for the salvation of man.

For all these God Jesus needs his own testi-

mony only. Jesus is God, the creator of ev-

erything. Therefore Jesus needs no one else’s

advocacy. Lawyers search for witnesses. To

win the case is their sole aim. But Jesus has

no need to argue and win before any court

Touch andFeel JesusDr. C.T. George

or judge. Jesus does not need the help of any

witness, no one can raise arguments against

Jesus. No force can oppose Jesus, it must beclearly understood. Man needs witnesses and

proof. It is because nobody lives for truth.

The sole thought and work is for winning

somehow, gaining money, defeating and de-

stroying others. For instance we have the in-

famous ‘God’s hand’, when the football

match was won by a goal born of a strike of

hand. These are tactics employed by man to

deceive other men; for God there is only one

subject: truth everwhere, always and for all.

Jesus who is our role model won all by him-

self, when the world by all means tried to de-

feat him. Therefore let us believe in all these

truths that Jesus is the light of the world, that

he is the way, truth, life, resurrection and the

Living God who will come back for the fi-

nal judgement.

Receive Jesus with faith. Word of the

Lord is the tool for it. All verses in the Bible

are God-given. We believe in God. Believ-

ing in God means, believing in the word of

God and believing in the word of God

means believing in God. The Holy Bible is

all that we who live in the present day world

can see, read, comprehend and understand.

. It is the treasure trove of the word of God,

designed for mankind to see God who can-

not otherwise be seen. When we place the

Holy Bible close to our heart, take and read

it, contemplate over it and proclaim the

word, it is Jesus, whom we place close to

our heart, see, think about, meditate over,

qualify, believe in and live. Thereby we touch

and feel and know him personally. Our

prayer should be like this: by touching this

Holy Bible, O Jesus, we are touching you;

touch me also, dwell in us (me). Sarcastic

comments about holding on to the Bible like

a personal effect are all out of place and

meaningless because what we do when wetake the Bible along with us is taking Jesus

also along with us. It means being led by

Jesus. It is in full faith, total submission,

complete holines and all-pervasive transfor-

mation that we take the Holy Bible along

with us. Then we will have Jesus with us

eveywhere and always. Me and Bible means

me and Jesus. It is God-given promise that

there is God where there are two of you. Thus the promise that our God is with us

becomes reality. It is Jesus himself who is

the happiest one when we who believe in him

make it a reality. Jesus cries when he sees

our wrong doings. The smallest sentence in

the Bible is “Jesus cried”. But the most pow-

erful sentence also is the same. Jesus cries

for us always. It is we who are responsible

for it. For escaping the punishment for it

and for Jesus to stop crying and start rejoic-

ing, what we have to do is to stop being in

sin. The merciful God will always be with

us to save us.

In problem times, diseases, torments,

gladness, thankful moments, in victory,

whenever you pray to Jesus, place the Holy

Bible close to your heart and pray. Then say:

Jesus my Lord, I consecrate to you in my

heart. Come into my heart. The one who

came in search of me, a sinner, accept me

in toto. Do not forsake me, I am a prodigal

before you. Let me inside your holy temple, come and dwell in my heart. Lord, be kind

to me. Have mercy on me. O my Redeemer,

redeem me; Healer, heal me; Strengthner,

strengthen me; Giver of hope, replenish my

hope; Giver of life, give me life; Resort of

the forsaken, be my resort. By touching the

Holy Bible, I touch you Jesus, I touch and

feel you, Lord Jesus. Jesus touch me, a sin-

ner. Touch me, I will be blessed. Just like thewoman who was healed when she touched

the edge of your cloak, I touch you when I

touch the Holy Bible. Heal me completely.

‘God is with us’ means, the word of God is

with us. So with the Bible means with Jesus.

When I place the Holy Bible close to my

heart, I embrace Jesus. For Jesus to enjoin

us we have to prepare ourselves, with all our

might, our body, mind and soul for Jesus toenter into our innards. Jesus will come, dwell

in us. Our prayer should be like this: O

Jesus, who dwells in Holy Mary, in

St.Joseph, in the apostles and saints, come

and dwell in me. Jesus, God of heaven de-

sires to dwell in the innards of you and me.

Let us for that grace place Jesus close to our

heart.

India to install the Largest SolarTelescope in the World

Ladakh, the cold desert in the

country, will have the world’s largest state-

of-the-art solar telescope on the earth soon.

This National Largest Solar Telescope

(NLST) will be set up at high altitude

Pongong Tso Lake Merak near Line of

Actual Control on the Sino-Indian divide.

It will be unique globally because the largest

solar telescope, the Mc-Math-Pierce Solar

Telescope, in the world at present is 1.6

meters. It is situated in Kitt Peak national

Observatory at Arizona in the United

States. The NLST will have the reputation

of being the world’s largest telescope till

2020. It is expected that a larger telescope

may become operational in the US by 2020-

2021.

All the telescope’s instruments will be

developed by the Indian Institute of

Astrophysics (IIA) and will be remotely

operated through the master control facility

at Bangalore. The link will be through a

satellite which will be provided by the Indian

Satellite Research Organisation (ISRO).

The telescope will address the

fundamental question about the nature of

solar magnetism. They include solar

dynamo, solar cycle and solar variability that

determine and control space weather.

Eucharistic Miracle: 2009

(National Catholic Register) : If reports

from Poland are true, an alleged Eucharistic

miracle that took place a year ago may have

merit. The Metropolitan Curia of Bialystok

has announced the results of the

investigation of an Ecclesial Commission

appointed by Archbishop Edward

Ozorowski on March 30, 2009. Father

Andrzej Kakareko, Chancellor, writes that

on Oct. 12, 2008, a consecrated host fell out

of the hands of the priest distributing holy

Communion. The priest picked it up and

placed it in the vasculum in the tabernacle.

After Mass, the vasculum and its contents

were transferred to the safe in the sacristy.

Seven days later, after opening the

safe, a red stain was seen on the host. Ten

days after that, the vessel with the host was

transferred to the tabernacle in the chapel

of the rectory. The next day, the host was

removed from the water and placed on the

corporal in the tabernacle.

On Jan. 7, 2009, a sample from the

host was sent to the University in Bialystok for analysis. According to two medical

professionals, professor Maria Sobaniec-

Lotowska and professor Stanislaw

Sulkowski, the sample, in their opinion,

most resembled the myocardial (heart) tissue

of a living organism.

As part of its investigation, the

commission interviewed witnesses and

pathomorphology experts. The commissiondetermined that there was no third-party

intervention. The case has been forwarded

to the Apostolic Nunciature in Warsaw.

The Constant Conversion of St. Paul(National Catholic Register) : St. Paul did

not really fall off his high horse on the road

to Damascus. There’s no horse in the Bible

story, and we probably got the idea from the

famous depiction of St. Paul’s conversion

 by the artist Caravaggio.

Whether St. Paul fell off his high

horse or not, it still remains a vivid picture

of what conversion is all about. We’re riding

high, going about our business, thinking

we’re doing what is right, when

enlightenment comes. We’re hit between the

eyes by the truth of the Gospel. We’re

blinded and knocked down, and then the

Lord calls us. It is then that our life is turned

around, and we receive a new name, a new

direction and a new destiny. For too many,

the idea of a religious conversion consists

of a once-and-done decision. Influenced by

evangelical revivalist preachers, many think

conversion is the same thing as “going

forward,” “getting saved” or “accepting

Jesus into my heart as my personal Lord and

Savior.”

For too many, conversion is equatedwith an emotional religious experience of

repentance and acceptance of Christ’s

forgiveness. Furthermore, too many think

this once-and-done experience provides a

free ticket to heaven, and they don’t need to

do anything further.

This is not true conversion. The

conversion of St. Paul happened on the road

to Damascus, but when we read his epistles,

we see that the struggle continued. In his

Letter to the Romans, he cries out, “O sinful

man that I am! That which I would do I do

not do, and that which I hate I do” (Romans

7:19). St. Paul was a work in progress. His

conversion was not completed on the road

to Damascus — it was only just begun.

Living Sunday as the Lord’s day(Vatican Radio) : “ What does Sunday, the

day of the Lord, mean for us? It is a day for

rest and for family, but first of all a day for Him”, tweeted Pope Benedict XVI.

The Holy Father spoke of how Sunday is a

propitious day for people to entrust

themselves, their prayers and intentions to

the Lord, because on Sunday, through the

Eucharist and living to His life-giving Word,

we have a direct channel of communication

to the Lord.

Hunger: The greatest scandal andthe greatest challenge

(Vatican Radio) : The scandal of hunger

occurs in a world where there is enough food

for everyone. That’s the moral message at

the heart of a major new anti-hunger

campaign that has been launched in Britain

by 100 leading char it ies including the

Catholic development agency, CAFOD. The

Executive Director of CAFOD, Chris Bain

says “one of the biggest crises” in our world

is that of hunger but points out that it

needn’t be that way. “The simple fact’’, he

continues , “is that there is enough food for

everybody but it’s just unevenly shared.” He

says this is “the central moral message” of

this latest campaign, because “this is one

problem of the world that we could solve if

there were enough political will. We can feed

all the people, it’s just the system that’s

wrong.”
